Stop me if you've heard this one but: the new iPhone is a lot like the old iPhone. In looks, in functionality, in its very essence the iPhone 7 is a device of old ideas, repackaged. The water resistance; the little conveniences like Raise-To-Wake; even the assassination of the noble headphone jack — none of it is truly new to those of us who spend our days neck-deep in smartphones.
But Apple doesn't build phones for tech bloggers (thank heavens) and it has no qualms about re-releasing existing technology in a new and interesting way. The iPhone 7 is the latest product of that strategy – a strategy which has propelled Apple to untold heights — but you need to look beyond the "boring" bits to realize it.
