Should you upgrade to the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus?

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus: Should you upgrade?

When new iPhones are introduced one of the toughest decisions to make is whether or not to upgrade to the latest and the greatest. If money is no object, it won't matter. If you're due an upgrade on contract, it comes down to whether or not the new features in the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus are compelling enough to be worth $200 or $300 or more to you. If you're not due an upgrade, or if you don't buy on contract, then that decision escalates to $650, $750, or more. So what are the pros and cons of upgrading to the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, and when does the cost get overwhelmed by the value? Let's take a look...

Should you get an iPhone 6 or Android, BlackBerry, or Windows Phone?

Should you get an iPhone 6 or and Android, BlackBerry, or Windows Phone?

Apple has released the brand new, top-of-the-line, flagship iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. But is either of them the right phone for you? While everyone here at iMore certainly believes the iPhone is absolutely the best phone for most people, most of the time, we're lucky that every major platform now has one or more great phones for us to choose from as well. The iPhone may have the best overall user experience, the highest quality apps and games, the widest range of services, the biggest selection of accessories, and the best customer support, but there are also things the iPhone doesn't offer that other phones do, like physical keyboards, high power cameras, digitizers, or simply no Apple logo anywhere near them. So, how do you know the iPhone is for you?

What iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus storage size should you get: 16GB vs. 64GB vs. 128GB?

16GB vs. 64GB vs. 128GB: Which iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus storage size should you get?

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus come in three different storage options — 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB. Choosing between them is one of the hardest decisions for most iPhone buyers. Camera and video capabilities keep improving, App Store apps are getting larger, and the functionality of our iPhones keeps getting better. All of this comes at the price of storage space. This is why choosing a storage size that matches your particular use case is so important. The last thing you want to do is get the dreaded out of space error after only a few months of owning your new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. Luckily that's where iMore comes in! From start to finish, we can help you choose the most cost effective storage option based on how you use your iPhone!

What color iPhone 6 should you get: Silver, gold, or space gray?

Color is one of the most visually distinctive — and personal — things about a new iPhone, which makes it one of the most important choices you'll have to make. Originally there was only one color, aluminum and black, but Apple eventually went to black and white, and now they're offering three choices for their high-end iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus: silver and gold, silver and white, and space gray and black. If you're on the fence about which color you should get, here's what you should consider.

What iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus carrier should you choose?

Once you've decided you're getting a new iPhone 6 Plus or iPhone 6, and picked your model, capacity, and color, you still need to choose your carrier. Apple announced $299 on a two-year plan for the 16 GB iPhone 6 Plus, and $199 on contract for the 16 GB iPhone 6, and it's safe to assume North Americans carriers will stay in line with that. Other carriers...? Well, we'll see. So which carrier should you go with? We've chewed through the plans and coverage, and here's what we've found!

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus insurance: Should you buy AppleCare or something else?

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus insurance: Should you buy AppleCare or something else?

Many new iPhone owners find themselves wondering whether AppleCare+ is worth it or not. More importantly, is AppleCare+ the best option when it comes to protecting your iPhone. When getting a new iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus that's a decision you'll need tomake. Like any other kind of insurance, iPhone insurance is far from one size fits all. So if you aren't exactly sure what type of warranty you need, we can help you decide what best suits your personal situation.

How to sell your old iPhone so you can buy the iPhone 6!

How to sell your old iPhone

If you're itching to buy a brand new iPhone 6 the minute it hits store shelves, one of the best ways to pay for it is to sell your old iPhone. No matter what price point you're going to end up paying for your new iPhone, the proceeds from selling your old one definitely help lessen the impact. Whether you've got an iPhone 4 that desperately needs replacing or something even newer, we can guide you through all the steps you should take in order to get top dollar for your current iPhone.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus buyers guide

If I want to get the 128GB iPhone 6 Plus on Sprint's "iPhone for Life" program, is it $300 down, or an additional $12.50 per month for the lease?

I have a Nexus 5 and really like the size plus the notification light so I'm trying to decide if I want the 6 plus. I can't really go back down (very small amount) to the regular 6 so the 6 plus would have to be it. I thought the Note 3 was big, but the 6 plus appears to be bigger, at least in height.

was going to jump on the iPhone 6+ 64GB but it is larger than my Oneplus One which is quite a large phone. Might need to rethink...

I'm going with the iPhone 6 with 64GB. Any idea when preorders will be up on the Apple site tomorrow? Have they traditionally gone up around the same time every year?

I usually get a new iPhone each year. So, I would only keep the standard Apple Care. I do fear iPhones are prone to theft though. So, what would I do to protect myself?

This is by far the most comprehensive collection of information for all of the carriers I have seen anywhere so far. Well done, thank you!

Is the protruding camera as annoying as I suspect it is? Four years of having a flat back on an iPhone and now it's going to rattle left and right when used lying on a desk. Grrr.

Just ordered my iPhone 6 from the apple store app! They are going quick guys! Ordered the space grey 64gb model! I think the 4.7 size will be perfect for me! Used the htc one m8 for a couple months and I am comfortable with that size fir me 5.5 might just be to big! But of course that's just me! Also decided to buy it outright as well! Did the math between this and in upgrade here in canada and in the long run it will be actually cheaper for me to do the outright purchase!

I ordered my 6 at 02:30 PT (good that I'm on Eastern time!), from the iOS Apple Store app, no problems. RENE: Here's a good topic for the next story. What I would like to know is, in the next couple of years - what are Apple's plans for the 4-inch size? I know a lot of people resist the trend toward bigger phones, so now that the 5S/5C are bottom-of-the-line, for 2015, are they planning on introducing new phones in the 4-inch size? Or are they going to end up with solely 4.7 to 5.5-inch sizes? Are they hoping that the Apple Watch will provide a path to small-form-factor device access that will answer the "I want a small phone" market?

I was decided to take 6+, but now having second thoughts. It's really big phone, my main use for iphone is comunication, messangers, Spotify, so larger battery means more music, but larger phone means harder to use one hand when typing. I just hope 6+ is not that wide and sits nicely in avarage hand. I have some friends who took big Samsung Notes and they regret since they're too big and not very comfortable to carry. IPhone 6 is so light and slim, it's perfect comunication device, but I'm still tempted by higher ppi, better battery, and software enhancement.

I ordered a 6+ and a 6.
I need to see them side by side and get a sense for the size. I plan on returning the one I don't like. I've used a note 3 before and while I loved it for movies, tv, and reading while travelling etc... It just seemed too big as a daily work phone (conf calls, emails, texts, etc...)

Sh*t I know I'm going to end up keeping both lol

I did the same thing and ordered both - if the 6+ seems "silly big" then it goes back. However if I do like the 6+ then the regular 6 wont go back but my wife will take it instead of doing a return. This way we can hand down both of our 5s to our daughters...

How to buy an unlocked iphone 6?
The Tmobile model is contract free, but is it sim-free/unlocked ? Or does it require unlocking from Tmobile?

No one seems to be bringing up the storagage space, 16gb...in 2014?! Another extra 100 for storage and I have to pay $400 for a 64gb 6 plus??? Come on apple. That is truly ridiculous. I want the 6 plus too and been dying to switch back to the iPhone but, seriously, I don't want another Samsung but I need more space than that for that amount. Just an honest rant. I'm sure some could relate.

I'd like, I think. the Six Plus, but I'm not sure if it will fit in my breast pocket. If not, I'll stick with my FiveS.

I have a question that I can't find a definitive answer from someone who actually held the phone (Rene looking at you). Does the iPhone 6 wobble when it is put flat on a table? I have seen countless articles stating this as a fact only to read on and find out that this person did not actually hold the phone and is only making an assumption based on the lens. It seems a logical assumption, but an assumption none the less. And if so, how noticeable is it. This is absolutely not a deal breaker for me, I already ordered a 5.5 for my wife and a 4.7 for me. Just wanted to know.

I'm gonna play the waiting game and wait to the initial wave passes (unless I somehow miraculously hit the Lottery) before I jump the gun and upgrade from my blue 32gb iPhone 5c. I ended up settling for the 5c last year after many attempts from my carrier, Best Buy, WalMart, RadioShack, and Apple.com failed to snag a 64gb 5s in Space Gray.

At the moment, I'm currently eyeing a 64gb iPhone 6Plus in Space Gray. Here's to hoping in a next couple of months once, all of the fanfare dies down some I can reward myself with an early birthday/xmas gift and snag my 6Plus.

I cant afford none of them. Here from Bangladesh, its quit impossible to get one. But I love reading the buyer guide. I wish I could buy one. :-(

silly america :)

So much great info here. You're right, there are a lot more choices than anything Apple's put out before.

I have been stumped on whether to get 6 or Plus, so I made a fun little "decision tree" thing. Here it is, if it might help others! http://wp.me/p26kfi-wP

So much to choose from, not even counting the Watch!

Super helpful.

It's a thumb stretcher, but I figured out at least 4 ways to use the big iPhones with 1 hand (http://wp.me/p26kfi-xf). 2 are by apple and 2 we've all been doing anyway, even with the 5.

Also, if you're having trouble deciding which (or whether) to get one, this decision tree (http://wp.me/p26kfi-wP) seems to be helping a lot of people. Hope it's helpful for you.
