Faster than fast

With its screen off, you'd be forgiven for thinking the iPhone 6s hasn't changed all that much from its year-ago predecessor, save for a color tweak. But just as you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, you shouldn't overlook this year's iPhone on appearance alone: Almost every internal component has seen an upgrade, and that "same-old" exterior design? It's tougher than last year's model, with better materials. Combine that with Apple's latest version of iOS and iPhone 6s-exclusive software features, and you're looking at an entirely new device hidden within the shell of its predecessor.
The S is for significant

Tick tock. S-year. Enough already. None of that has mattered since 2011. When it comes to the iPhone, each year, every year, Apple sprints flat out. This year that includes a new casing, new glass, new chipset, new cameras, new radios, new interactivity, and the list goes on and on. Apple's tagline is "the only thing that's changed is everything" and they mean that sincerely. That not only makes the iPhone 6s Plus new, it makes it exciting.

Small enough to get you in the door

Apple's current iPhone 6 lineup starts at $199/$650 for 16 GB, goes up to $299/$750 for 64GB, and tops out at $399/$850 for 128 GB, on- and off-contract. That's how Apple segments for low, middle, and high-end. It has nothing really to do with storage size or price though—Apple can and has done the same thing with screen sizes, processor speeds, or even product colors—it's just something most people look at in a store and understand. More costs more.
