Apple calls the iPod nano 7 "renanoed", and if you look at the longer, thinner shape, and the wider screen, it's harder to argue the logic than it is the ad copy. It still isn't running iOS, and Apple has rounded the icons to better visually differentiate it from it's bigger, more computer-like cousins, but it does include apps. And buttons. There's a Home button now, also similar to iOS, and a volume rocker with a pause/play control in between. It also has the new Lightning connector, which is why it can be so thin.

We've just given away three new iPhone 5 handsets and now we want to celebrate the release of the new iPod touch and iPod nano by giving some of those away as well. They're funner(erer?) than ever, and totally renanoed, and we know you want them, so here's the deal!

If you thought the iPhone 5 set a new bar for thin and light, wait until you see the iPod touch 5. Thanks to the miniaturized Lightning connector and the single layer in-cell display, the iPod touch 5 really is entering the realm of ludicrously, turn-it-sideways-and-it-almost-disappears thin.

The iPhone 5 is the thinnest, lightest iPhone ever, but the iPod touch 5 is almost 2-dimensional. Everything comes at a price, however, and so while the iPod touch 5 is even thinner and lighter than the iPhone 5, it doesn't have anywhere near as good internals. The new iPod touch devices announced today at Apple's event will be able to run Siri. The voice-activated virtual assistant has been gradually creeping its way into Apple's other products, and it's good to see it landing on the iPhone's little brother. All of the usual tasks, like launching into web searches, controlling music, opening apps, and checking the weather and sports scores are included. 

Apple has just announced a new iPod nano which is the 7th generation of the hugely popular device. The new nano is larger than the previous model as it comes with a 2.5-inch screen and has physical controls on the side. It has a similar look to an iPhone but obviously it is much smaller and thinner coming in at just 5.4mm thick.
