iWork suite now available for the iPhone and iPod touch

Looks alright, but since i dont have an iPad, I dont really want to get this for iPhone for $10. If they end up making a single app for iPad, iPhone AND Mac, then I will get it.

Umm..... so did they fix some of the issues like no presenter notes in Keynote? Or, compatibility issues with the OSX versions? How about footnotes in Pages?
And.... will Keynote on iPad display presentations through an Apple TV? That's what I really want to know. :)

Just reading the app description... maybe they do now have presenter notes. Can anyone confirm that? Do they come through from the OSX version? Thanks.

They added presenter notes in Keynote a few updates ago, and the compatibility issues are almost gone. (I haven't experienced any compatibility issues in a long time, but I know of a few cases where it still exists.) Not positive about footnotes in Pages, but I'm pretty sure it hasn't improved. Finally, Keynote doesn't yet support AirPlay, but I have to think that's coming eventually.

Thanks Jason, that is all good to hear! I was expecting to hear about these things in an update, so I had been waiting to see the new feature list. I suppose some of these things were a bit embarrassing, so they just quietly fixed them? Anyway, I'm REALLY glad to hear about presenter notes. It might be time to buy it now. :)
re: compatibility issues - what I'm mainly talking about here are the feature differences between OSX and iOS so that you had to watch what you designed on the OSX version or it would get stripped out on the iOS version (and then, worse, if you modified on iOS, you'd lose the stripped stuff when going back to OSX). If they have have eliminated most of this in some manner, that would also be great to hear. Please let me know. :)
re: AirPlay - yes, that one would be BIG!

Hmmm...maybe Apple is getting some of the smaller announcements out of the way to make room in the keynote for the big one...iP5

yep just keep telling yourself apple THEMSELVES have said what will be announced at the WWDC and guess "come the next generation of OSX and IOS" meant no hardware there releasing lion and IOS5 and don't think about it being in the "and one more thing" as you think that they would unleash the much expected next generation of a flagship product as a sidnote!?!?!? you i rene and everyone who listens to the apple rumours knows there no ip5

Free update? it's showing that i have to pay £5.99 for the iphone versions?!
When they updated iMovie etc, my ipad just picked up and marked it as "install"

It's a free update. Must be a glitch in the system because it showed that for me too, but when I tapped the button, it told me I had already purchased it, and I could download it for free.

It's interesting that TiPb never came across a rumor about this, but kept repeating the same one over and over.

OK, it seems I might have spoken too quickly at least in part. I've been waiting for a new version, when it seems Apple has been sneaking things in quietly through previous small updates. Looks like things aren't quite so bad any more... might be time to jump in... finally!

I looked at these apps in the appstore and was a bit put off by so many of the not-so-possitive reviews, and by the fact that there are so many of them already. Is it this bad, or are a lot of these from beta testers?

iWork is WAY better than any of the other office suites. I have all the others and iWork is awesome.

You bring up something important. I’ve seen mini-reviews comparing iOS office suites, but never a thorough, feature-by-feature, point-by-point of how the Apps compare with each other and desktop programs such as Microsoft Office. I expect the iOS Apps to not be as feature rich, but exactly what are they missing?

I want to get these but at 10 bad boys each? That is a little much. Maybe 4.99 each but not 10. All they need now is iPhoto. Perhaps this might be announced on Monday.

I don't think $10 is bad if you're going to really use it. For example, if you do presentations often, being able to give them from an iPad or iPhone is certainly worth $10 (Keynote). I don't have a need for something like Pages at the moment, so I just won't buy it. Same, generally, with Numbers... though that might be handy so I can access my Numbers docs while on the go.
re: iPhoto - That would be great.

I've been waiting for this since before the iPad came out! iWork is my office program of choice on my Mac and I haven't been a big fan of the conversions that happen in docs to go or quick office. Now I have numbers across all three of my devices.......finally

Did you pay for iWork on all platforms? I have paid for it on Mac, iPad & now would like to get on iPhone. What do I need to do?

This is great. Free update for the iPad version, still worth the money if you'll use it - well above any other office Apps on iPhone.

This is the best iPhone news in a while. I've been waiting for this since the iPhone came out. I do a lot of work on my iPhone 4. Thanks Apple.

This is exciting to me because, this shows they do not need to use this as added fluff for the WWDC next week, normally Apple would add this into IOS5 but this shows they have enough exciting stuff already...

I use Microsoft Office for work and laptop but use iPhone. Can I use Pages/Numbers/Keynote? If so, how is it diff than QuickOffice? Thanks and sorry if the question seems amateurish.

Conversion is relatively seamless. Text may appear different at times, and some templates in Pages do not convert completely. However, the iWork suite overall puts Office to shame.

I havent used it on my iphone yet, but from personal experience Pages and Numbers works great on my ipad and can export in either pdf, or xls or word formats also

The one disappointment is that you can't edit (or even view) in landscape on the iPhone. Huh? What's up with that Apple? I consider landscape even more important on the smaller screen of the iPhone.

After reading more about this, looks like QO is the winner, especially if you use MO for desktop. QO is $4.99 for all three and QO Pro is $9.99 which includes Dropbox and other cloud syncing. iWorks would cost $30. If you have iPhone and iPad, then Apple deal is pretty close. If just iPhone, QO is way to go.

I've downloaded it through iTunes on my Mac but when I try to drag and drop on to my iPhone on 4.2.1 it will not allow me to install.
Instead I get the following error: -
"The app "Pages" was not installed on iPhone "X" because it requires a newer version of iPhone software."
anyone else getting this error or having any other troubles installing the app?

Wifi sharing?? Is this new? I can send a keynote presentation via iTunes sharing without having to connect my iOS device to the computer... Has this always been possible?

This update has been long overdue.
Can now organize files into folders, just like iPhone or iPad home screen-click, drag and name.
iPhone app is an added bonus. Now get multiple devices to sync via MobileMe and you really have something.
