Microsoft launches Xbox One Smartglass for iOS ahead of launch day

If you're eagerly awaiting the arrival of a shiny new Xbox One on November 22, you'll no doubt be wanting the all new Smartglass app for your iPhone or iPad. Released today, Smartglass for Xbox One is a completely new and separate application to the existing Xbox 360 app.

Xbox One Smartglass is the perfect companion app for your Xbox One, both in your living room and on the go. Connect and control your Xbox One. Stay connected with the games and gamers you like. And add a new dimension to your console entertainment with the mobile device you already own.

Many of the features of the existing Smartglass app are carried over to the Xbox One version, including the remote control. There are some interesting additions to this new Smartglass app however, including the ability to open apps on your Xbox One either snapped or in full screen view. It also comes with a new look to go with the new console.

Grab it now from the App Store at the link below, though obviously unless you were one of those incredibly lucky souls who had a console ridiculously early you won't be able to try it out just yet. No harm in being prepared though, right?

If only Sony would jump on board and allow control of the new PS4 with their app. It sounds like Microsoft understands people's desire to control anything and everything with their phones.

Wow! iOS integration! I like how other companies integrate iOS but apple doesn't integrate other companies.

Still debating but most likely going PS4 this time around instead of both like last time.

I went to my local Target expecting a plethora of PS4s since the reports were an abundance of stock... They only received a small shipment and haven't been replenished. Hopefully MS can take advantage and having the services ready pre launch is a good sign.

Wow, Sony and Microsoft are really duking it out. Now, each of them has their own companion app to go with their console. This time I think the Xbone has the edge for more functionalities than the PS4 app.

Does anyone find it interesting that all these companies like Google, Microsoft and so forth make apps for the iPhone. You don't see Apple making apps for windows phone or android.

I guess there is iCloud and iTunes for windows but that's it....
