Monument Valley, the optical illusion-based puzzle game for iPhone and iPad, has proven so popular and so successful that the developers behind it, ustwo, are planning to build out some additional levels. According to TechCrunch:
[Monument Valley] made its development money back within a week — rather than the 12 months Gray and the team had originally hoped it might. "To say it blew our expectations out of the water is an understatement," he adds.
ustwo is now spending some of its unexpected MV windfall on building out some new levels. There's no confirmation on exactly how many it will build yet — although Gray says the aim is to roughly double the gameplay time with a sequence of 'lost scenes'. (Average gameplay time worked out at around 90 minutes.)

Monument Valley's producer John Gray says that the upcoming "lost scenes" levels will be placed in a separate section, away from the main game so that it doesn't interfere with its narrative. The new levels could be released sometime in October or November, but there's no word yet on pricing.
As to a full sequel, Gray said if Monument Valley 2 ever gets done, it's not going to be done for a good while. In the meantime you can download the current game for iPhone and iPad for just $1.99 for a limited time, a 50 percent discount compared to its usual price.
