Nine regional carriers getting new iPhones on October 1

Nine regional carriers in the U.S. have announced that they will start selling the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c starting next Tuesday, October 1. These carriers are:

  • Appalachian Wireless
  • Bluegrass Cellular
  • C Spire
  • Cellcom
  • GCI
  • MTA
  • Nex-Tech Wireless
  • Ntelos
  • Strata

Other regional carriers have also said that the new phones will arrive on their networks in the near future, though the exact date isn't specified. It's possible that they could also be part of the rollout on October 1. Anyone planning to pick one up? If so, on which carrier?

Nine regional carriers getting new iPhones on October 1

I notice that US Cellular is not one of the carriers listed. I mainly jumped from them to get the i5 on VZW. They said they were getting it this year, maybe the holidays?

USC is said to be updating their computer systems late last week/earlier this week allegedly to support their iPhone launch... it may be imminent - just not announced yet.

Good news! As usual, USC is last one to the sandbox, but at least they have FINALLY showed up [with their iPhone]! When I asked last week, the rep stated that they were simply updating their billing system [hence no bill for 48 days] and had no date as to when the new phones would be released.

I need to switch back to USC soon (moving to an area that only USC has good service in). I know they are switching to a shared plan (same as Verizon’s apparently) and I found this post by a USC employee on a fan site:

New plans out October 6th hopefully and iPhone to follow shortly after (maybe at same time?). I’m targeting the Christmas season for switching my wife and I over (crossing fingers on finding a good deal).

US Cellular is in deed updating it's billing system, the word is that it is specifically for the iPhone. Service in the area that I live in has gotten so bad that my family , after over 20 years of service with US Cellular, has jumped ship to Verizon. I wouldn't waste my money on an iPhone on US Cellular. The service is spotty and regional. We drive to Raleigh, NC on a regular basis, where US Cellular has no service, and our only saving grace is that, in addition to our US Cellular phones, I have a Blackberry Z10 on AT&T and my wife has a Verizon Droid Razr Maxx HD.

Live in Kentucky so I'll be going with bluegrass cellular . their coverage is excellent in the rural areas and along the interstate. My wife's iPhone gets about 33MB download
