Omni Group offers Mac App Store customers upgrade pricing on their future releases

There is no out-and-out upgrade pricing model as such for the Mac App Store – it's something we've talked at length about before – but Omni Group has come up with a simple method to offer their customers the chance for cut-price software upgrades. OmniKeyMaster is a free app available from their website, that searches for Mac App Store licences of their products and creates an equivalent license for their own web store.

OmniKeyMaster is a simple app that finds App Store copies of Omni apps installed on your Mac, then generates equivalent licenses from our store - for free. This gives Mac App Store customers access to discounted pricing when upgrading from the Standard edition to Professional, or when upgrading from one major version to the next. Another benefit: since they don’t have to wait in an approval queue, our direct releases sometimes get earlier access to new features and bug fixes. OmniKeyMaster lets App Store customers access those builds, as well.

While this no longer allows you access to a Mac App Store copy of the apps in question, it does at least get around you having to pay full price for a new release. When some of their apps retail for $200, the chance at upgrade pricing is even more enticing. It's not necessarily the solution for everyone, but it's a solution nevertheless. Are you using an Omni Group product from the Mac App Store? Will you be using this to switch over?

Check out a short video of OmniKeyMaster in action below, though apologies it doesn't seem to work in the iMore app.
