Pixelmator 3.1 adds Mac Pro optimizations, more

A new version of the popular Mac image editor Pixelmator is now available for download from the Mac App Store. Among the improvements in this update are optimizations for Apple's new Mac Pro, improvements to Layer Styles and more.

Mac Pro optimizations in the new release enable both GPUs to be used simultaneously for effects. 16-bit per channel color images are supported, image auto saving is computed in the background while image composition is being rendered, and more.

Even if you're not using a Mac Pro, you'll see many other enhancements as well. You can now select more than one layer with styles and change the opacity of the selected layers at once; you can apply styles on a new layer after you've painted with the Paint Bucket or Pixel tools; and much more.

Many effects have been added back in, RAW image file format support is improved and more - you can get more details from the Pixelmator web site.

I can not say enough great things about this app. They know their primary target, ensure everything is covered, and then throw in amazing, more "pro" features. All for $30.

I download the update earlier... Even though I was weened on Photoshop, Pixelmator is such a wonderful app. So happy to see updates for apps like this. They just get better & better.

Great app, great tutorials on their website, and it does everything I need and more. Highly recommended for casual and power users alike, especially those who can't afford or justify the cost of PS.
