Skype iOS app updates bring HD video calls to iPhone 5s, new iPads

Both Skype and iPhone and Skype for iPad have been updated, adding higher-quality video calling on more recent Apple devices, as well as chat notifications. Skype for iPhone now supports two-way video calls on the iPhone 5s, while the iPad app supports this on the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display. Both apps also support push notifications for Skype chats. Chat messages will also now sync faster across devices.

You can grab the updates for both apps from the App Store now.

I hope it will finally be a reliable IM platform. So far Skype has been a mess on mobile.

This is a great update. I stop using Skype for this very reason. I may have to give it another chance. Thanks for the update!

Great update! Although I wish they had included older devices into the mix.
