Smartphone Experts S&C retractable cable for iPhone and iPad - accessory review

The Smartphone Experts S&C retractable sync and charging cable for iPhone and iPad [$4.95 - iMore Store Link] is for those who abhor long cables that always getting caught, tangled and the imposing clutter, the SmartPhone Experts S&C Retractable Cable for iPhone is the way to go. Small and lightweight, you can take it with you everywhere and charge/sync your iPhone through the USB connection on your laptop or computer with ease.

The Smartphone Experts S&C Retractable Cable for iPhone expands to a length of 2 ft. and has a locking feature which allows you to choose which length you would like the cable locked at. A light tug on the cable and it retracts back to its wound state. When wound, the Cable is only 4.5 inches long, making it very easy to bring with you. My regular usb S&C cable was always a tangled mess when I carried it loose in my briefcase. A good deal of time and effort was spent on untangling the cord from whatever it had become attached to. With the Smartphone Experts S&C Retractable Cable for iPhone, charging and syncing my iPhone is a snap, just take it out of my briefcase and plug it in and when I am done a quick tug and is thrown back into my bag. The cable is quite well constructed and after a month of use it is still working like new.

I would recommend getting this for everyone who charges and syncs their iPhone. I absolutely love this Cable and at $4.95 it is practically free (appeals to my Scottish side).

Smartphone Experts S&C retractable cable for iPhone and iPad - accessory review

I have several of these from poundland shops here in the UK. I've also seen them at trade fairs for £5, and eBay for around £3-4.
£1.00 is a bargin though and they have not let me down in appox 12 months use.

I've had one of these before - it cost me about £1 on ebay with free shipping!
it lasted about 12 months and then broke. Given how long it takes the much more expensive apple cables to strip apart and break, I'd much rather buy one of these a year and save on the clutter... Even if you manage to lose one of these, it's no problem given the price!

Any word on a black one? Currently my iPhone is hooked up to my car radio via USB cable but the cable is super long and the extra slack just hangs around my shifter.. definitely not what I want, but I don't want a bright white cable either.

Reviewing a cable? "and it successfuly charges ur iPhone" this company reinvented the cable... 10 stars!!!

Scosche makes the same cable in black, it is available on Scosche sleekSYNC Retractable USB 2.0 cable for iPod and iPhone ( Black ), however it is currently $16.19 ( 4 of 5 stars ) and therefor substantially more expensive than the S&C Retractable cable in the above article. Scosche also makes this cable in white as well as other retractable cables. The above S&C cable looks to be a good buy and after this email I'm going to order a two of them, one for the home office and one for the car. Good luck. BTW, there are many different makers of the retractable cables, just be careful as the quality of the cable and the mechanism varies, read the user reviews, usually a general consensus will steer you in the right direction.

This is what I've been looking for! I usually do a loose butterfly coil of my cables... or just throw it into my bag and try to untangle the mess when I need it =)
This is a butterfly coil, if you're wondering what it looks like:

I have one these cables, and they're so useful! In fact, they're so useful that I've decided to start stocking them on my site!
The problem with buying this on eBay is that you can't guaruntee the quality, especially for £1!

I bought two of these and they seem to do the trick. However, the one they show in the video review has the thin, Apple style connector, while the ones I received have the fatter, generic style connector.

Echoing what Butch says... I received a non-Apple like connector which doesn't fit the Apple bumper case. The connector on mine is much fatter which works fine... just not with a case.

you can always tell the quality of USB cables by looking at the thickness of the cable. thicker usb cables have higher quality ,:,

i was all ready to purchase this then found out it is NOT compatible with the Apple iPhone 4.
