Sony lawsuit drives iPhone Jailbreaker Geohot to rap! [NSFW-L]

I think Sony's lawsuit over hacking the PS3 might have driven iPhone Jailbreaker Geohot over the edge... and right into rap! Can he throw down? Watch the video after the break and let us know if he's Geohot... or not. (Sorry!)

Hate his 'I can do whatever I want' lifestyle. It is essential that the PS3 stayed locked for the protection of other customers.
There's a reason why the PSP is a synonym of piracy and cheating. Soon the PS3 will become that as well, thanks to Geohot and other hackers.

HSaturn says:

just because people can do something doesnt mean they will of course there are some idiotic people who thinks because they can win a game cheating they are the ssssht but then again you cant blame it on him

Jeff Higgins says:

Waaaaaaaaaa. Cry about it some more @ryan.

Ty says:

What? Are you serious? Hack it! Open up the possibilities. You don't have to hack yours and for that matter--he is not advocating getting games illegally. Stop that crying, baby!

BBCurve9300 says:

I'm not against Jailbreaking the PS3, that allows for a world of possibilite but the major problem that comes along with jailbreaking is hacking in games and pirating games, if there is a way to stop that from happening I don't think Sony would care to much
and as Ryan said if this isn't monitered quick it will turn into the PSP, I remember playing and not a single game of Socom did not have 1 hacker in it. I love my PS3 and hopefully Geohot will be free and piracy and cheating will stop

Barry says:

@Ryan. You're kidding right? Right?????

H4rk says:

"I hate his 'I can do whatever I want' lifestyle" - This sounds like a Principal Skinner line, Simpsons fans will appreciate the reference.

Glenn#IM says:

Exhibit this in the court room. They will. Be careful what you ask for. I thought jailbreaking in general was ruled on, and not a bad evil unlawful thing.

Jeff Higgins says:

It would only stand to help his (GeoHotz') defence. All this illustrates is that he's a young guy that isn't doing anything revolutionary or malicious; it only helps to illustrate how Sony, a giant megacorp, is trying to crush some kids because of its own failed security.
This is also a very dangerous game Sony is playing. Sony shouldn't have a right to police what people do with the technology that the own. This case might set a precedent whereby the consumer is liberated from the clutches of corporate interests. Apple did the same, more or less, and the results were to entrench the rights of consumers to jailbreak the devices they pay for. If Sony isn't careful it'll lose this suit and set the same precedent.
Furthermore, Sony should probably be spending more of it's money and time on improving it's piss poor security. Sony's legal tactics are comparable to Egypt turning off the internet. You can't stop progress, and once something is known it can't be unknown. If Sony were smart, which collectively I guess they aren't, they create a more stringent security infrastructure on the PSN side of it, and properly vet boxes connected to the network.

Daniel says:

Jailbreaking the ps3 isn't forced on you. He's simply allowing people who want to mod the devices THEY PURCHASED to do so. If you don't want your device to be susceptible to 'hackers' then simply don't participate. But to admonish someone for providing an avenue for the people who do want to exploit their devices is wrong.

Stephen says:

@Daniel You are exactly right!! Geohot even tried to stop piracy in his jailbreak and what Sony is now doing is censoring his website and stopping OUR freedom! Soon we will just be like China if this keeps on going...

bucketofried says:

I think the bigger issue is the ability to hack a ps3 opens up the multiplayer universe to hacking... which in turn leads to cheating and then multiplayer universe apocalypse all in all... remember when Halo was hacked? last time I played it...

Jeff Higgins says:

So, in other words, Sony should hire more security experts to secure PSN, to properly vet boxes connected to the network. These are two entirely different issues: hacking the device you paid for should be a right - just like you have a right to do whatever you want to the car you buy.
However, there are rules concerning what you can do to your car if you want to drive it on roads. This ought to be the parallel logic of this Sony-GeoHot case. A person should have every right to hack or jailbreak their device. They paid for it, it's their property. But, if they want to use the device on the PSN, then they should have to follow the rules.
It's Sony's responsibility to vet the boxes connected to its network - just like Microsoft does. Suing people for releasing jailbreak or hacking information is not an appropriate response. It's a very poor way to compensate for Sony's own technical incompetence.

Daniel says:

The gaming hacking community is thriving just fine without Geohot's PS3 exploit. In fact, YouTube is FILLED with video tutorials on how to mod xbox, PS3, Wii and a multitude of other platforms. Should YouTube face the same lawsuits?

Piper says:

Jeff: you are only partly correct. You "own" the hardware. You only "own" the right to use the software/firmware. Sony owns there OS and the customer buys a license to use that software. You sign or otherwise agree to the terms and conditions of that use. That doesn't include hacking or otherwise modifying said software.

Nick says:

I have no clue why they would sue him. It's just like if u have a car and want to tune it gm isn't going tp sue you over it it's dumb then they shouldn't sell stuff they should rent it. If you buy it it is yours to do with not there's.

GsxRz says:

It's all quite simple...this is America, a land bought and paid for with corporate dollars. If they tell you to use their products the way they tell you to, that's just what your supposed to do. I mean come on, look around people when a single mother is fined millions for downloading music do you really think these company's's all about the bottom line, and if a community is exploiting any means that takes away from their profit then their gloves come off

Jeff Higgins says:

Hopefully consumers will wise up and stop buying PlayStation. It's a sub-standard system anyway, besides Gran Turismo (which is fast becoming a sub-standard sim racer), I don't understand why anyone would buy it in the first place. It's well known that it's an awful development platform. Why not do developers a favor and switch to the Xbox 360, which is known to be an extremely developer-friendly platform.

Chip Chipperson says:

Sony is headquartered in japan....

Thorasgar says:

I only have a Wii and am not a huge gamer, but as I understand the current situation everyone should be happy. Want a open hacked system. Great you got it, just cannot play online. PSN is a service Sony has every right to police, restrict, drive into the ground, charge for, make free, whatever they want.

I love that when the commenters want the jailbreak, geohot is every bad name in the book, and a useless guy. Now that he's having fun with a lawsuit, people are "awe this is great". People are two faced.

Rene Ritchie says:

I could so totally out rap Geohot...
...just saying.
Awesome though. :)

DJ Ritchie Rich that's ur new rap name

Crunch says:

I wanna see Rene outrap the can probably write very clever lyrics, but his rap is good. I was surprised.
It would have been funny if his mom had come in mid-way through his song. haha
Anyway y'all, don't be a player hater...hate the game yoo...:D

This is the bomb. Nice rap.

Wellington says:

The kid's got more talent than we knew! LOL
Nice! They should just sign the kid and see what he can offer them. LOL

Lee Chen says:

Absolutely marvelous! Geohot ought to be immediately considered for hiphop music video cameos. Intelligence fighting against the Machine is so much more, uh, intelligent than simpleton, belligerent savages pulling the same tired, old crotch-grabs in courtrooms (ala Sony the Corporation).
Geohot for President...!

Me, I can only lay down the funk with my Bass!

Is there anything that guy can't do?

fastlane says:

Yeah, he can't sing. Which is why retards rap instead. I wouldn't play that video for a free iPhone 5.

Dantv says:

I can't tell you how much I hate people like Geohot.
Boy would I kick his a** if he were here!

Crunch says:

Jealousy will get you nowhere, son.

Tweger01 says:

I really admire what he is doing, however, if he wants people to respect him as an adult, he should act like one. This video is showing how immature he can be, not boosting his PR standpoint.
