The Loop was able to speak with Apple Spokesperson Trudy Muller today, who stated Apple saw consumer demand for the iPad 2 launch last Friday to be "amazing".

“Demand for the next generation iPad 2 has been amazing,” Apple spokesperson Trudy Muller, told The Loop. “We are working hard to get iPad 2 into the hands of every customer who wants one as quickly as possible.”

Apple hasn't announced how many iPad 2 units were sold over the opening weekend, but our guess is that Apple sold every single unit they were able to make and if they'd been able to make more, they'd have sold more. It took the original iPad 28 days to reach 1 million units. iPad 2 might easily have beaten that in a day.

What's you guess? How many iPad 2s did Apple sell this weekend?

Apple announced today that sales of Apple TV are expected to top 1 million units this week. The significantly smaller, significantly less expensive Apple TV was introduced at Apple's annual iPod and iTunes event in September and released at the end of that month. With a focus on rental rather than purchase, streaming rather than sync, Hollywood rather than "amateur hour" and Netflix as well as iTunes, Apple's PR on the subject provides some interesting stats but strangely, no quotes from Apple execs:

iTunes users are now renting and purchasing over 400,000 TV episodes and over 150,000 movies per day.

While it took longer than iPhone 4 or iPad to reach the 1 million mark, is this any indication Apple TV might be poised to move beyond "hobby" status? Or will that still take Hulu, HBO, and major league sports deals?

Apple has just announced sales of 1 million iPads since the US debut on April 3, along with 12 million app downloads from the iTunes App Store and 1.5 million ebook downloads from the iBookstore. Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs, is happy:

“One million iPads in 28 days—that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone. Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.”

Apple's iPad Wi-Fi + 3G debuted on April 30 and unofficial tallies have its sales of those SKUs at 300,000.

An amazing debut by any standards, but will growth match that of the iPhone?

Apple PR has announced that:

it has sold over one million iPhone™ 3GS models through Sunday, June 21, the third day after its launch. In addition, six million customers have downloaded the new iPhone 3.0 software in the first five days since its release.

That's a good number of units for the device equivalent of another sequel release, isn't it? It's also enough to get Steve Jobs back up in the quoting chair:

“Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.”

Nice to see that, and congrats to Apple on some impressive numbers.

[Thanks iDavey for the tip!]
