• Speaking of charge cases, TiPb got the tip that some chargers were having trouble under 3.0, but that Apple knows about it and will be fixing it soon in 3.1...
• And lo and behold, they've already gone and released the iPhone 3.1 beta just in time for iPhone Live!
• New features include BT support for Voice Control, Save As for video editing, and more!
• As always, Jailbreakers are warned to avoid 3.1 until the Dev-Team gives the all-clear
• Don't expect an iPhone 3GS jailbreak/unlock any time soon though...
• 3.1 is also good news to users experiencing MobileMe account and random icon bugs

Early word from TiPb commenters and the Twitter show some new iPhone 3.1 features found already:

• Non-destructive video editing means trimming a clip no longer saves over the original video but gives you the option to "Save as copy..."
• Voice Control now works over Bluetooth
• iPhone vibrates when moving icons
• Updated AT&T profile to 4.2
• Updated modem firmware to 5.08.01

Behind the scenes changes abound as well:

• Improvements to OpenGL and Quartz.
• APIs to allow third party apps to access videos and edit them.

Update: Yes, MMS buttons appear to be back for AT&T users, but as with early iphone 3.0 Betas, they're non-functional on standard devices. Whether they survive to the official release this time (they were removed in 3.0 Beta 5), who knows?

Apple has just released iPhone 3.1 SDK Beta to developers:

iPhone SDK 3.1 beta and iPhone OS 3.1 beta are now posted to the iPhone Dev Center. These versions are for development and testing only and should be installed on devices dedicated to iPhone OS 3.1 beta software development. Please read the iPhone OS Pre-Install Advisory and the iPhone SDK 3.1 beta release notes before downloading and installing.

Available now via developer.apple.com, and TiPb once again reminds non-developers to stay clear, avoid potential problems, and wait for the general release.
