Prototype of Amazon's smartphone leaks out, could make iOS 7 parallax look tame by comparison

Today we're getting our first look at what may well be Amazon's first foray into the smartphone arena, courtesy of a scoop from BGR. What we see here is a prototype, BGR writes, and clearly shows some of the interesting hardware features. A series of cameras on the front of the 4.7-inch device are said to be of the infrared variety, used to track your face and eyes to change how things look on the display, giving a 3D effect without the usual 3D hangups.

Could a KindlePhone and FireTube lure you away from Apple? (If they're ever made... or shipped in your country...)

Ever since Amazon launched the Kindle Fire line of tablets, rumors of swirled about them making Kindle phones using the same embedded Android base and store-front centric interface. Amazon not making a free Kindle Fire phone, but...

Over the weekend - while everyone here at iMore worked feverishly to prepare for tomorrow's iPhone event - some noise surfaced about Amazon working on a phone, and one they could give away for free. Amazon has since denied the rumor, which is interesting from the "no comment on no comment" company, but the idea itself is worth some exploration...

Amazon rumored to be designing its own smartphone to challenge the iPhone

Amazon is once again rumored to be in the process of developing its own smartphone to challenge the dominance of Apple's iPhone. According to Bloomberg:

Foxconn International Holdings Ltd. (2038), the Chinese mobile- phone maker, is working with Amazon on the device, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans are private.
