Apple starts selling the iPhone 5 unlocked online in the U.S., at retail in Canada

As of today you can walk into an Apple Retail store in Canada and walk out with an unlocked iPhone 5. That's something that was only possible via Apple Online orders until now, likely to prevent the type of scalping activity -- the same people lining up everyday to buy unlocked iPhones only to resell them overseas -- that caused problems with previous Canadian launches. Not to be left totally behind, the U.S. has also started selling the iPhone 5 unlocked, but only via Apple Online.

So, if you still haven't gotten your iPhone, and you want to walk into an Apple Store and walk out with an unlocked one, and you live in Canada, today's your lucky day.

Apple Retail Stores opening at 8am for new iPad launch on Friday, March 16

Apple has announced that the new iPad will be going on sale at Apple Retail Stores on Friday, March 16 at 8am local time in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK; along with Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

MacRumors and Heylookitsseric are both claiming Apple will be updating their Apple Store app to allow customers self-service checkout for off-the-shelf items like iPhone and iPad cases at Apple Retail.

Apple Online makes it easier to order an iPad 2

The Apple Online Store was down earlier today, and while we didn't get any red iPhone 5s, we did get some feature improvements, including an easier way to order just the iPad 2 you want.

Choose a color, black or white
Choose a model, Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + 3G
Choose a network, AT&T or Verizon in the US (if you chose Wi-Fi + 3G)

As you choose, your order is summarized and you can tap to continue on and place it. It's definitely an easier way to order, especially on an iPad.

The only real surprise is why it's taken Apple so long to make their site more intuitive and friendly.

White iPhone 4 shipping in 3-5 business days

As promised the white iPhone 4 finally showed up on Apple online last night and is currently available with a 3-5 business day shipping estimate (as opposed to the mere 24hrs for the black iPhone 4). Apple might be prioritizing current stock for Apple Retail, carrier stores and resellers like Best Buy so anyone heading out to get one today doesn't come home disappointed.

So if you've waited this long and 3-5 more days don't matter to you, place your orders and watch for the delivery truck. If you want it today on the other hand, you'll have to head on out to the store! Either way, let us know what you're getting

Appe Online in the US has posted their once-a-year sale prices for Black Friday and as expected, iPad, iPod touch, and iPod nano as all being discounted. Come tomorrow you'll be able to save $15 on a brand new iPod nano, $21 on an iPod touch, and $41 on an iPad.
