White iPhone 4 shelf price shows up at Best Buy

Well folks the mythical and elusive white iPhone 4 is popping up yet again and this time as a shelf price at Best Buy. According to Engadget they received pictures from a Houston area Best Buy which shows a shelf price tag of $599.99 for an AT&T 16GB white iPhone 4 off-contract (same price as the black version).

If you purchase your iPhones or iPads from Best Buy, you may be interested in checking out their new Buy Back program. In a letter sent out to current Best Buy Reward Zone customers, they'll be announcing the new program during the Super Bowl this coming Sunday (third quarter to be exact).

It appears Best Buy will tell you exactly how much they'll give you for your gadget when you purchase it. When you are ready to trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch (or any other gadget for that matter), you'll get a Best Buy gift card instantly for the fixed buy back amount. It's a nice little gesture to loyal customers. Here is part of the e-mail sent to customers:

Best Buy announced today that they will be carrying the much anticipated Verizon iPhone 4 beginning February 10.

The iPhone 4 is an important device for Best Buy and we are excited to help Apple and Verizon Wireless bring it to even more consumers,” said Shawn Score, president of Best Buy Mobile. “Our customers have come to expect Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores to carry the best selection of mobile phones anywhere, and offering the iPhone 4 on Verizon’s network is our latest effort to deliver on that promise.

White iPhone shows up in order systems, available Feb 27?

The white iPhone 4 has shown up in Best Buy and Vodafone Germany's order processing systems with an availability date of February 27.

Of course these hints are always hit and miss as retailers sometimes create placeholder entries based on the same type of rumors you read right here on TiPb so take this with a white iPhone 4 sized grain of salt.

Best Buy offers free Mi-Fi with purchase of iPad and 2-yr contract

If you still haven't purchased an iPad for yourself or a loved on for this holiday season Best Buy is making it a little bit more enticing for you to finally make the purchase.

Now until January 2nd if you purchase an iPad you will receive a free Mi-Fi from your choice of AT&T, Sprint or Verizon. Of course you will have to sign up for a 2 year commitment for the data to use with the Mi-Fi from either of the three companies but if you wanted data anyways why not get the free Mi-Fi to start it off with!

Best Buy giving Apple's iPhone 3GS away for free on December 10th

BGR has received word from a tipster that Best Buy will be offering Apple’s iPhone 3GS to customers for free. This particular offer will only be valid tomorrow, December 10th, and is available to customers who are looking to start new lines, additional lines, or use their qualified upgrades.

So if you are in the market to fetch yourself a free iPhone you might as well take a ride to your local Best Buy retailer tomorrow and pick one up.

Best Buy CEO: iPad cannibalizing laptop sales by 50%

iPad may be cannibalizing laptop sales by as much as half according to Best Buy CEO, Brian Dunn:

Mr. Dunn also said internal estimates showed that the iPad had cannibalized sales from laptop PCs by as much as 50%

It will be interesting to see how much, if at all, they cannibalize iPod and MacBook purchases, and if they're in it for the long haul or the cannibalization stops when most of the people who want an iPad get one.

Apple bumpers arriving, Best Buy giving away free side film for iPhone 4

TiPb iPhone Forum user shaolinfinest let us know last night, and many others have since confirmed, that Best Buy was starting to give away InvisibleShielf protective side films for iPhone 4:

I'm not sure if this has been discussed but Best Buy is starting to receive Zagg kits called "iPhone 4fix" or something like that. Basically Zagg sent us a bunch of invisishield sides to put on customers iPhone 4's and they are free. The only disclaimer on the kit is that it says shield and install is free but install is up to the associate if they want to put it on or not. Before going in, call your local Best Buy if you are like me and don't want to put a case on it. I installed the sides today and it was easy to put on and feels ok so far.

No pre-orders outside Apple Store?

TiPb among others are getting word that, contrary to previous reports, non-Apple Store retail locations like Best Buy and Radio Shack may not be taking pre-orders starting tomorrow.

Look, these things are usually chaos personified, with execs jostling back and forth with Apple, upper and middle management never properly communicating with employees in the stores and on the floor, and everyone and their CSR hearing conflicting stories that change by the minute.
