Beta 5

Apple releases iOS 7 beta 5 - Developers, go get it!

Apple has released beta 5 for iOS 7, which as usual, will contain all manner of bug fixes, performance enhancements, and minor and major tweaks as they continue the long haul towards fall release.

Registered developers can get it now by going to Settings > General > Software Update and doing an over-the-air (OTA), on-device update. It should also be available, in full binary form, via the Apple Developer Center.

Apple releases iOS 6.1 beta 5 for iPhone and iPad

Apple has released iOS 6.1 beta 5 for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. This comes just a day before beta 4 was set to expire, and represents one of the longest gaps between beta releases in iOS' history. Furthermore, beta 5 still hasn't shown up over-the-air (OTA), so rather than the faster, more convenient delta-update-in-place, if you want beta 5 now, now, now, you'll have to download it from developer.apple.com and do a complete update via iTunes or Xcode.

As always, this beta is intended for registered developers so they can try out new application program interfaces (API) and make sure their apps are compatible before iOS 6.1 goes into general availability (GA), presumably sometime in the next couple of months.

(If anyone gets the OTA, let us know. It's spoiled us and made us lazy!)

If you're currently running iOS 5 beta 5 but just can't live without your jailbreak, the Dev Team has already released RedSn0w beta 5. The only catch is, it's tethered, just like the previous beta versions of RedSn0w for iOS 5.

Apple has just released iPhone 3.0 Beta 5 to developers, a scant week-and-a-day after Beta 4. Previously Beta 2 and Beta 3 had been arriving every second Tuesday like clockwork, so was is this a sign of acceleration pre-WWDC, important fixes that needed pushing out faster, or just an early surprise for developers anxious to keep up to date?
