David Ashman talks LockInfo post iOS 5 notifications

David Ashman is the developer behind LockInfo, the popular notification and lock screen information app for Jailbreak -- and he's just seen Apple add their own version of both those features to iOS 5. So how does he feel about that, and what does it mean for the future of LockInfo?

Check out the video above, shot at WWDC 2011 the day after the keynote to see what he says. (Spoiler: While Apple may fill the needs of casual users, LockInfo is going to make the pros very, very happy for a long time to come.)

LockInfo 3.0 first look [Jailbreak]

YouTube Link

I got a chance to look at the brand new version of LockInfo a bit early so I've put together my thoughts for you guys to check out while you (im)patiently wait for the public release.

For those of you that don't know, LockInfo is a great little jailbreak app that makes up for the poor (read: lack of) notification system Apple has left us with under iOS. I wrote a LockInfo setup and walkthrough a while back and now we're going to look at the newest version of LockInfo by David Ashman.

How to setup LockInfo for iPhone [Jailbreak]

LockInfo is a great app available to jailbreakers that once again fills a functionality gap -- this one making up for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad's poor notification system. Until Apple implements a better solution, David Ashman has done an incredible job supplementing notifications with LockInfo.

Even though LockInfo is an extremely intuitive and powerful app, the setup can be a bit tedious. But when you get it right, you'll be in notification heaven! Hit the jump for a quick guide and a video with some tips for optimally configuring LockInfo.

*As a side note, LockInfo is $4.99 right now, as of November 7, 2010 - that price will go to $7.99, so if you've been contemplating, you may want to jump on the current price. There is also a 14 day trial if you would like to test it out first.
