Apple’s App Store crashes through the 40 billion apps download mark

Apple has just announced that its App Store customers have downloaded over 40 billion apps. It shouldn't be that surprising when you consider that Apple has over 500 million active accounts using the App Store and December 2012 alone saw a staggering two billion app downloads.

BBC iPlayer update coming today, will finally allow on-device downloads

The BBC will finally release an update to its UK only BBC iPlayer app that will bring downloads to your iPhone and iPad. The current version of iPlayer will only allow you to stream content to your device which has always been very limiting, especially if you are travelling. The news comes from The Guardian and the update should go live sometime today.

How to access iTunes Movies in the Cloud from your iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV

Movies in the Cloud is the latest addition to iTunes in the Cloud, the iCloud service that let's you re-download previously purchased iTunes content on your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Mac or Windows PC. Apple reaches 25 billion iPhone and iPad app downloads

The countdown is over. The 25 billionth app has been download from the App Store and one lucky person (hopefully an iMore reader!) has won a $10,000 iTunes gift card. This milestone has been reached just shy of 4 years after the App Store's launch on June 10, 2008. Not bad!

No word on who the winner is yet -- if it's you, what do you plan to spend all that iTunes cash on?

Apple Begins Countdown to 25 billion App Downloads

The App Store has been around for nearly 4 years, and it is approaching 25 billion downloads. (That's 25,000,000,000!)

To celebrate, Apple is doing a countdown and giving away a US$10,000 (or equivalent) iTunes gift card to the person who downloads the 25 billionth app.

iPad App Store passes three billion app downloads

ABI Research has a new study showing the iPad App Store has hit three billion downloads since it debuted in 2010.

The iPhone took as long as two years before being able to achieve this level of downloads, while the iPad made it within nearly a year and a half.

This represents roughly 19 percent of all iOS App Store downloads combined, which is a significant slice of the pie in terms of Apple's mobile ecosystem.

iPhone activations see huge spike on Christmas day, significant increase in App Store downloads

Apple's iOS device activation numbers saw a huge spike of around 353 percent on Christmas Day. In addition, app sales jumped up a full 252 percent after millions of people opened their new iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and iPod touch and headed straight for the App Store.
