Apple No Longer Offering No Contract Pricing for iPhone in the US?

According to the Apple website, it appears like US users no longer have the option to purchase an iPhone at no commitment pricing.ย  In the US, AT&T is the exclusive carrier.ย  A lot of users prefer to purchase a phone at no commitment price and unlock it for use on T-Mobile (and some people just don't like contracts).ย  The AT&T websites still seems to be offering the no commitment price for the iPhone. Apparently you must purchase a no commitment iPhone in store. Doesn't make any sense to us either.

AT&T rolling back upgrade eligibility dates for next iPhone?

We have some good news for those of you who are AT&T customers as it appears the carrier is rolling back upgrade eligibility dates for early adopters of last years iPhone 3GS. I have been keeping an eye on my upgrade date online for the past two weeks waiting for it to change from 11/20 with no luck just yet but a MobileCrunch reader has noticed a change to their account.

AT&T customer? iPhone user? Eligible for an upgrade to the brand-spanking new iPhone 3G?

Yeah, we have no idea either, but in an unexpected and appreciated step towards being slightly less confusing than usual, AT&T has gone and created some website goodness to help everyone find out in three easy steps:

  • Login to http://www.attwireless.com/
  • Click on Phone/Device
  • Click on Upgrade iPhone
  • (We'll leave out Step 4, hold your breath and pray the stars are aligned just so... for now).
