GelaSkins has been quietly selling some funky iPhone skins for a few years now, but they’ve recently made the big jump to hard cases. You’ll find all of the same high-quality art on their new line of cases for the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 3G. If you’ve got your own images you’d like to use, GelaSkins also has a web tool for putting your own graphics on the some accessories.

This is a sensible move to make, considering the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S is more in need of impact protection than scratch resistance. but of course, you have to be willing to give up some of that slimness and unified design whenever slapping on a hard case. It’s a tough balance to strike, and one I still haven’t settled on personally.

They’re a tad on the pricey side, but damn are they stylish.

Last year we saw Gelaskin leap into Marvel Comics, this year they got their pixel art on with some awesome looking skins from eBoy. They’re also full on into custom skins so if neither Wolverine nor aliasing catches your fancy, you can whip up a Gelaskin all your own.

Dark Horse Comics, purveyors of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8, Angel, Hellboy, among other licensed and creator-owned fare have teamed up with Gelaskins to produce a series of comic and pop-art inspired protective coatings for your iPhone, iPod touch, and laptop.

They were kind enough to send TiPb a sample of the Buffy and Hellboy iPhone 3GS skins, and the art was bold and beautiful, and the product every bit as good as I’ve come to expect from Gelaskins (I’ve been using them for a long time, as those who’ve seen my iPhone 3G with Dragon skin in our videos can attest.)

They won’t protect your iPhone from severe impact, but they’ll keep scrapes and abrasions at bay, (and if an imaginary vampire attacks, maybe, just maybe, Buffy or Faith will jump out and dust them for you).
