OnStar's RemoteLink App slings remote directions to your car, keeps tabs on fuel

When Chevy finally launched the Volt plug-in hybrid electric car, they also kicked out an app with in-car communications and monitoring subsidiary OnStar to integrate owners' mobile phones with the vehicle. Similar to the MyFord Mobile app that Ford put out to integrate with their own Focus Electric, OnStar RemoteLink being shown off at CES 2012 hooks into the OnStar system onboard the vehicle, allowing the owner to remotely monitor the fuel levels, and in the case of the Volt, also check in on how the battery is charging, plus set off-peak charging schedule. RemoteLink also can plan routing on the phone and send it remotely to the car, saving you time the time of generally tedious address inputting when in the car.

Apple posts iOS 4.3 GM seed for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch

Apple has posted the iOS 4.3 GM (gold master) build 8F190 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch on their developer portal. While Apple TV was included in the iOS 4.3 betas, no GM has been posted for it at this time.

Unless there is a show-stopper level bug found in the GM, this is likely the same build that will be released to the public on March 11 alongside the iPad 2 in the US.

UPDATED: Is there a difference between iOS 4 GM seed and final release?

UPDATED: Well, Game Center is gone in the release version,

We keep getting asked if there will be a difference between the iOS 4 GM (gold master) seed released to developers at WWDC 2010 and the final GA (general availability) version that'll be released to end users sometime today.

Maybe. Other than the former being intended for developers and the latter for end-users, we don't know though we guess they'll be fairly close (so apps developed under the GM don't run into problems under the GA). Apple could have found and patched a few trivial bugs, removed debug code, or made a few non-app impacting tweaks. The GM seed may also be read differently in iTunes and not prompt for future updates (i.e. 4.0.1, 4.1, etc.) the way the final release will. Or they could be binary identical.

iOS 4 GM jailbroken one day within release

The Gold Master of iOS 4 that was just released yesterday after Steve Jobs WWDC keynote has already been jailbroken by msft.guy. This was accomplished by using some hackery along with the Dev Teams's existing Pwnagetool.

The Dev Team has stated that they do have a working jailbreak for the final iOS 4 but we will not see that until June 21st or shortly there after so it may be wise to hold off on this particular hack. But if you are feeling brave and just have to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS running the iOS 4 GM then feel free to give it a try using these directions here.

Video after the break!
