Google introduces new cross-platform messaging service, Hangouts, available now!

Much rumored leading up to Google I/O, Google has today introduced their all new, cross-platform messaging service, Google+ Hangouts. Just a day after BlackBerry announced BBM for iOS, Google is bringing their offering and it's available to download from the App Store now.

Follow the Google I/O 2013 Keynote with Android Central!

What a week in mobile we're seeing. First Nokia, then BlackBerry, and today it's over to Google. Our buddies Phil Nickinson and Jerry Hildenbrand from Android Central are on the ground in San Francisco for Google I/O 2013. Today is go time, with Google's three hour long monster keynote due to kick off this morning, afternoon or evening depending on where abouts in the world you are.

Editor's desk: Orlando live!

See that picture up top? That's me trying to figure out a) which flight I'm about to miss, b) which event is next, and c) how I got stuck in the Matrix. And why's that? Because this week marks the first in what will no doubt be several crazy summer weeks in mobile and at Mobile Nations. For my part, I leave for Orlando today to join Kevin Michaluk and what feels like most of the CrackBerry nation for BlackBerry Live 2013. I'll be there in my Mobile Nations producer capacity to help broadcast and record not only CrackBerry Live TV -- we'll be streaming straight from the show floor! -- but also to continue working on #TM13...

Editor's desk: Google I/O, Twitter-pocalypse III, 300 + 1, and more!

It's July 1 and that means it's Canada Day here in the great white north -- or The Wall, as HBO fans would now better understand it.

Canada Day, for those unfamiliar, celebrates the 1867 signing of the British North America Act, which united Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Upper and Lower Canada (Ontario and Quebec). Suffice it to day, there's been barbecue and parades already, and there'll be fireworks soon, so for the second week in a row I'm going to Nickinson this and keep it brief-y.

Google takes shots at Steve Jobs and Apple, forgets rubber and glue rule

Google used their Android 2.2 Froyo launch today to bring the fight squarely to Apple and Steve Jobs, saying in essence they created Android because they feared a future where one man (Steve Jobs) and one company (Apple) controlled the mobile space.
