More white iPod touch 5 parts surface

Earlier this summer 9to5Mac and iFixYouri found some white iPod touch 5 front panels floating around, and now teardown site iFixDirect has gotten their hands on something similar. Given we saw the iPad 2 get a white version this year, it only makes sense that the iPod touch would follow suit sooner or later.

Give-away: iFixDirect red or blue iPhone 4 color swap

iFixDirect now offers red and blue color swaps for the iPhone 4, and they not only sent me both conversion kits to take a look at and share with you, but are generously giving away a conversion service to one of you, our awesome readers!

Both colors look phenomenal. The red kit is very vibrant and rich in color and the blue kit is a nice deep blue and not quite as showy as the red. What's interesting about the blue kit is that it is very reflective like a mirror.

UPDATED: What happened to iFixDirect and their white iPhone 4 conversion service?

Last month, I had my iPhone 4 converted to white with iFixDirect, and today reader Mark wrote in to let us know the site no longer seemed to be taking orders. So what happened? They're going through a change of management.

As the new owners of iFixDirect, we are very excited to see what the future holds for this company. We have heard all your complaints, in-fact we are the ones who have been trying to resolve all the issues you may have had in the past. Recovery is a slow process but we are working day and night to help you restore your faith in this business and provide you with the quality service that you have been seeking all along.

I've been in correspondence with my contact from iFixDirect, but don't have much details on the change of management other than that one of the original owners of iFixDirect is now the sole owner and running the business on his own. Their website has been updated to reflect the changes and also teases of two new color swaps - red and blue.

We are hoping to receive more details on when the services will become available and will update you when we know more. So if you were waiting on the service, sit tight. In the meantime, anyone excited for a red or blue conversion?

UPDATE: Looks like white conversions will be starting up again very soon, with red and blue to follow on shortly thereafter. Prices should be broadly similar and if you're wondering -- yes, the TiPb 10% promo code will still work (see the link at the top of the post). A couple more pics after the break, and more details to follow!

UPDATE 2: If you are a customer that has not been able to contact iFixDirect, their new email address is support@ifixdirect.com and phone number is 1-800-441-8817. Any email received from ifixdirect@gmail.com is not them and should be disregarded.

Hands-on: White iPhone 4 conversion from iFixDirect

iFixDirect is an iPhone repair company based out of New York and one of their services is an aftermarket white iPhone 4 conversion. Included in the swap is replacement of the front glass, back cover, home button, LCD screen, and flash diffuser. Additionally, they boast of being the only company that replaces the speaker mesh to ensure nothing can get trapped inside and damage your phone. The conversion takes less than 24 hours and it is shipped back overnight.

When Steve Jobs first announced the white iPhone 4, I was in love and couldn't wait for one to be in my iPhone-loving hands. But my heart was soon crushed when it was delayed at launch. This wound got increasingly worse as the white iPhone 4 was delayed further and further. It wasn't long before the white iPhone 4 became nothing but a mystical device to me - until now. My black iPhone 4 has been converted to white with iFixDirect.

How is it? Photos and hands-on impressions after the break!
