One of our sources has confirmed that AppleCare+ will be offered on iPads starting today for $99. It will cover accidental damage up to 2 replacement incidents with the same $49 deductible.
iPads equipped with 4G are showing up in Apple's inventory ahead of the iPad 3 event according to a 9to5Mac source. This would mean that 4G would not only be for US models, but international models as well. This lines up with our recent prediction that the iPad 3 would indeed be equipped with LTE.
Right on schedule, Apple has shut down their online store for an update, complete with their usual cutesy post-it note. Since we're expecting the iPad 3 to be announced the afternoon, it's likely that they're just getting things ready to showcase the new products.
Apple's iPad 3 / iPad HD event kicks off today at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT from the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. Apple rarely provides live streams for their events and hasn't announced one for this event either. If they do, we'll post up the details as quickly as possible.
iMore will be doing a special edition iPad Live podcast during the event, following the news, and adding our own commentary, context, and color. We'll start up 15 minutes or so before the keynote. We'd love for you to join us, so get in early to reserve your spot in the chat room. You can find it at http://www.imore.com/live.
We'll also be getting all the big announcements up on the main page just as fast as inhumanly possible, so you can follow along via RSS, Twitter or Facebook.
If you've still got some time on your hands, do what I did -- watch Apple's iPad 2 event from last year. What better way to wait for what's next then revisiting what came just before.
It's the eve of Apple's highly anticipated iPad 3 event and Apple has snuck in a new "Catalogs" category into the App Store. The new Catalogs category is not yet available from the categories tab of the App Store, but you can see it in the description of some apps like Catalogue by TheFind as seen in the photo above.
The long-in-beta iOS 5.1 software has a Gold Master (GM) candidate, build 9B176, and has passed quality assurance (QA) testing by Apple and their carrier partners. According to Will strafach of Chronic Wire:
Tomorrow, Wednesday March 7, 2012, at 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm GMT Apple will be announcing the next generation iPad, and perhaps a whole lot more. We'll be doing a special edition iPad Live podcast with yours truly as well as Simon Sage, and guest appearences from the Mobile Nations crew, including Phil Nickinson and Kevin Michaluk. We'll be following along with the event and providing our usual mix of up-to-the-minute commentary, witty color, and expert analysis. Our live chat will be in full effect, so you can comment right along with us!
Phew! That March 7, 2012 announcement date rumor turned out to be accurate. Apple will indeed be unveiling their next generation iPad in San Francisco next Wednesday, and that will not doubt dominate the news, and our attention, for weeks to come. In the meantime, there's a lot of other great stuff going on hereabouts...
Apple's iPad 3 event is schedule for Wednesday, March 7, 2010 at 10am PT, and from the looks of these pictures, they're wasting no time in getting the Yerba Buena Center all gussied up for the big day.
