Pad & Quill Octavo Luxury for iPad and Little Luxury Book for iPhone reviews

Pad & Quill are purveyors of fine, Minnesotan, handcrafted iPhone and iPad cases, namely the Little Black Book, Contega, and Octavo. Last summer we took look at them for the iPhone 4, iPad 2, and MacBook Air, and last month we looked at the updated Contega for the new iPad. But that wasn't all P&Q had up their sleeves for 2012. Not content with their existing Baltic Birch and Spanish leather concoctions, they went back to the bindery and returned with something richer and even higher end -- the Little Luxury Book for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S and the Octavo Luxury for the new iPad.

Incipio Hive Honeycomb dermaSHOT Silicone Case for iPad 2 review [Giveaway]

"The Incipio Hive Honeycomb dermaSHOT Silicone Case for iPad 2 looks interesting and feels great but it doesn't fit exceptionally well around the edges, ruining the overall affect."

The first thing you'll notice about the The Incipio Hive Honeycomb dermaSHOT Silicone Case for iPad 2 is the look. It's covered in more hexagons that a Dungeons & Dragons map. This honeycomb texture isn't superficial either -- it's thick and structural and designed to absorb shock and keep your precious iPad from being hurt by accidental bumps or drops.

White Diamonds shows off artistic, Swarovski encrusted cases for iPhone and iPad

White Diamonds is continuing their line of artistically printed, Swarovski crystal emblazoned iPhone and iPad cases, and at CES 2012, they showed us just what they have in store this year. They fit both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S now, and range from the simple yet elegant Arrow to the more elaborate pink grid.

Once again, it highlights how iPhone and iPad accessories have made the transition from utilitarian protection to fun, fancy fashion.

Incipio underGround Case for iPad - accessory review

If you're looking for a sleeve case for your iPad, the Incipio underGround Case may be for you. It's envelope design gives it an urban feel while offering protection for your precious iPad.

The outside is made from a wool/felt textured material and feels great in your hands. The micro-suede inside gives your iPad a scratch-free environment. The sleeve provides a snug fit, so pairing it with another case is likely impossible.

There isn't much else to say about Incipio underGround case because of it's simple design - which in this case (no pun intended), is a good thing. If you're an iPad user who prefers to use the device in it's naked state, I recommend heading over the TiPb iPad accessory store and checking the Incipio underGround Case out.

Incipio Kickstand for iPad - accessory review

If you're looking for a durable standing case for your iPad, the Incipio Kickstand case may be for you. It is made of rip-stop nylon on the outside and lined with microsuede on the inside.

The Incipio Kickstand is designed with different panels so that they can fold into a triangle, converting the case to stand. Since the inside is made out of microsuede, it has plenty of friction to keep the iPad standing without special notches, hooks, or flaps to keep it in place. Unfortunately, there is only one angle you have the iPad stand at. This fixed angle keeps the iPad standing tall, perfect for setting on a desk and watching movies. If using the iPad on your lap, you will not want to have it set up as kickstand because the angle is too awkward.

Not only is the microsuede great for providing necessary friction, but it's also very soft and at no risk of scratching your precious iPad. Also, the inside of the middle panel has a pocket that is great for holding items such as envelopes, notes, and business cards. Lastly, the Incipio Kickstand has a magnetic closure which allows it to be free of flaps or fancy closures.

The Incipio Kickstand for iPad is available in the TiPb iPad accessory store in three colors: black, light gray, and khaki/tan. If you're looking for a nice standing case that also offers some good protection, I recommending checking this one out.

Speck Fitted Case for iPad - accessory review

The Speck Fitted Case for iPad is a hard shell case with a soft fabric backing. It snaps together from two parts -- the plain black bezel that wraps around the top and outlines the ports, and the textured, pink and black plaid that covers the back plate.

Two part cases are typically more secure but more of a pain to put on and take off. Both of those are true for the Speck Fitted Case, which means it's best suited for people who like to put a case on and leave it on. I'm usually so not that type of person (my job here at TiPb doesn't let me be!) but I like this case so much it's stayed on way longer than I originally expected. I just really like it.

Macally Bookstand case for iPad - accessory review

Looking for an iPad case that doubles as a stand? Overwhelmed by the options? If you desire one that's nice and slim, your search may be over. The Macally Bookstand for iPad is a form fitting, yet protective case that can be used as a stand when in landscape.

The iPad snaps into the Macally Bookstand at each corner. This makes it very easy to take your iPad in and out of the case. It also means that the corners are the only spots on the edge of the iPad that are protected. This doesn't bother me; in fact, I prefer it. I'm a fan of slim cases that show off as much of the iPad as possible, so seeing the aluminum edges is a plus in my book. But if you're of the opposite mindset and want as much protection as possible, this case is not for you.

The front of the case is thin and kind of flimsy, but it holds up really well. About a third of the way from the inside, there is a seem in it which allows it to bend. Bending the front of the case to the back and sliding the flap into the provided slip gives the case a triangular shape. Now you can have your iPad at a nice typing angle on a table or your lap, or stand it up tall for easy viewing. I was nervous that touching the iPad would cause it to fall when having it stand tall, but this is not that case. The Macally Bookstand is nice and sturdy.

The outside of the Macally Bookstand is made from a velvet-like material that feels nice. However, it is prone to collecting lint and dirt. It is fairly obvious on the black one I've been using, but I suspect that it wouldn't look as bad on the gray one. I found that the easiest way to clean it is with an upholstery attachment on a vacuum cleaner hose - it only takes a few seconds.

If you’re looking for a slim stand case for your iPad, check out the Macally Bookstand for iPad available now from the TiPb iPad accessory store.

Photos after the break.

Incipio Executive Foleo for iPad- accessory review

This week I am taking a look at the Incipio Executive Folio black leather case for iPad. This case not only looks good but is super thin. There are no pockets in the case other than the area to slip in your iPad. The flap secures with a tab of leather that tucks into a leather loop.

The fact that this case uses real leather is nice; no "pleather" here. You can smell it as soon as you take the case out of the packaging. The inside is a very soft suede. I feel very safe sliding my iPad in and out of it. Since it is so soft, it slides in smoothly too. Sometimes with these types of cases the iPad won't slide in smoothly and can get stuck on a corner, etc. I have not found that to be the situation here.

The only concern I have with this case is that the leather tab that closes the external flap is only sewn on in two places. It feel that over time, it might easily tear. My case has not torn, but if you watch the video, I show you what I mean.

Overall, this is a slim case that will protect your iPad from daily bumps and grinds. There is not any real padding for falls, but it seems to had handled the daily abuse I was able to give it just fine.

The Incipio Executive Folio black leather case for iPad is available now from the TiPb iPad accessory store.

XGear Folio Carbon Fiber Case for iPad - accessory review

The XGear Folio Carbon Fiber Case for iPad is slim, strong, and sexy, with a suede interior and what feels like a darn-near bullet proof outer shell. In sharp contrast to the plush, old-world, executive leather of the Marware Eco-vue, the XGear Folio is sleek, futuristic materials and textures. It adds considerable protection against scrapes and scuffs, if not as much against shocks and drops.
