The Motorola EQ5 Wireless Speaker for iPhone 3G/3GS  and iPod Touch is one awesome Bluetooth stereo speaker setup. Looking for a good speakerphone? I have been searching for the perfect complement to my iPhone; an external speaker that sounds great, small, portable and asks like a phone. What did I find? The Motorola EQ5 (part of the Moto Rokr brand) portable stereo Bluetooth system. You might remember I reviewed the Blueant stereo speaker in the past; I really liked it and the missing piece for me was the ability to have great sounding stereo sound. Guess what? I have found it in the Moto EQ5. Read after the break to learn more!

The Moto EQ5 is small and light. Its Dimensions are 4.6 x 2.55 x 0.59 inches; totally pocket-worthy if need be (it is almost the same size as the iPhone actually). The face of the device has the usual suspects including volume up/down and play/skip controls. The bottom of the device has a rubber grip around the edges and a built-in kickstand to prop the device to a convenient 45 degree angle. The On/Off switch is on the bottom a USB port on the left for charging and 3.5 jack for connecting to non-Bluetooth players. Oh, and let’s not forget the bass ports on both sides for some sweet sounds…

I have carried this speaker with me everywhere; the car, my desk, kitchen, you name it. This device is really useful. Imagine taking a speaker base and making it portable. That is what you get with the Moto EQ5. The sound is fantastic. Not being an audiophile, I can’t find room for complaint, but some more discerning audio listeners may. For what the device is, you can’t go wrong.

Of course there is the bonus of the device being wireless, and you also can answer and make phone calls with the Moto EQ5 as well. The device uses the same noise-reduction and echo-cancellation technology as found in other Motorola headsets. The battery life on this device has been stellar. I was MIA for a couple of weeks, returned to my Moto EQ5 and it worked for another 6 hours before needing a recharge.

I am really trying hard to find any distinguishable take-away from this device, but it is almost perfect from every perspective. This has to be one of my favorite iPhone accessories of all time; I absolutely love it.

iPhone 3G S comes with typical shiny white Apple headset buds, but for the first time these earbuds sport the new “remote”, which includes volume controls and more.

Apple previously introduced iin-ear headsets with remote and mic for the second generation iPod touch (and aluminum MacBooks) in September 2008, but clearly labeled them as not-compatible with the iPhone 2G or iPhone 3G because the “remote” part was useless.

What a different a generation makes.

Now the full control scheme introduced with the 4th gen iPod shuffle is available to iPhone 3G S owners with one notable difference — holding down the center button activates Voice Control.

Today is a good day to be a iPod touch 2G owner. Particularly if you have been waiting for an untethered jailbreak method to appear. The Dev Team put up a post late last night on their blog:

The iPod Touch 2G is now another member of the “pwned for life” family. It has a fatal flaw in its bootrom that means you will always be able to pwn these devices no matter what firmware updates come along. This is the full, untethered jailbreak, something that iPod Touch 2G users have not had before today.

The iPhone dev team have posted a tethered “redSn0w” Jailbreak for the 2nd generation iPod touch. They are providing it with expert-only instructions, and a strict warning that they won’t be providing ANY support for it (if you ask for help, it means you shouldn’t be using it, and they’ll literally ban you from their site).

However, they also say they’re working on an un-tethered Jailbreak, which will hopefully be both much easier to use, and enjoy some level of support.

If you’re a supra-command-line ninja, however, and absolutely can’t wait, go get it now…

If anyone checked out ESPN.com late last night they would have been smacked right in the eye with quite possibly the biggest iPod Touch Banner Ad Ever. After releasing the new iPhone “game changer” commercial during the baseball playoffs, it looks like Apple is focusing on expanding the iPhone/iPod Touch product line by reaching sports fans. Good idea? I don’t know maybe Apple is thinking they can turn sports fans into Apple fanboys..

Either way, that thing was BIG. Dare I say life-size. There was no way anyone going on to ESPN.com could miss it (unless you have ad blockers). Effective? Yes. Annoying to scroll down to read the news? You betcha. Newsworthy? Hey it’s the weekend..

One of the big missing features on the iPhone is support for wireless bluetooth stereo, also known as A2DP. Naturally, the iPod Touch lacks the same, since it lacks a Bluetooth chip altogether. …Or does it? Yes, it does. See, as MacRumors notes, the legendary disassemblers at iFixit took on the iPod Touch 2G and found a little chip called the Broadcom BCM4325 — a chip typically used to provide WiFi or Bluetooth. There’s already a separate WiFi chip, so Bluetooth is the natural assumption.

ZOMG, right? Well, no — Engadget put the hammer down on the rumor and our childlike sense of wonder by pointing out that 1) the chip’s presence doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s actual Bluetooth support in there and 2) that what the chip probably really does is interact with Nike+ (it’s built-in, see), since Nike+ uses a “proprietary 802.11 protocol” that this Broadcom chip is almost surely able to work with.

In other words, move jog along, nothing to see here.

Okay, so we pretty much all now know what the iPod Nano 4G will look like, but what about the iPod Touch 2G? If iLounge‘s sources are right — surprise, surprise — the upcoming refresh will see it slightly thicker but more tapered, just like what happened to the iPhone back in June. What else?

What appears to be an antenna enclosure is shown on its rear top left, with the same headphone port and Dock Connector port arrangement at its bottom. Notably, the drawings show what appear to be volume controls on the left side, addressing a key concern of iPod touch users; the added thickness might be attributable to changes in the battery.

Or how about that rumored GPS? No? Not so much?
