A MacRumors forum member going by the handle guigsh posted the above photo(shop?!) in their forums this morning, claiming it was a spy shot of iPhone 5 taken in the office of a French operator. While we've seen spy shots of HP webOS devices under similar circumstances in the past, this one doesn't look much more believable than those [Chinese iClones we've been seeing lately].

A follow-up post from the thread author gives us the following information:

we were able to see it only 2 minutes, pictures forbidden of course, so, we did our best. I just want to share this with the mac community, now trust me or not. Rendez-vous in 1-2 months

No doubt we'll see tons more leaks, and tons more fakes before Steve Jobs holds up the real deal this fall. In the meantime, this one is making the blog rounds so take it for what it's worth -- a very large grain of salt. I'm personally not convinced in the least.

Your turn. Real, fake, or really fake?

Passcoded your iPad but still worried someone could access your personal pictures via the Photo Slideshow button on the lock screen? Luckily, if you don’t want to use the slideshow button, there is a very simple way to remove it. We'll show you how... after the break!

Steps

Before you begin, you need to make sure you have a passcode set on your iPad, otherwise you can't change the selection that turns it off.

Launch Settings

Tap General

Tap Passcode Lock.

Turn the Passcode On.

Once you have a passcode set, the “Photo Frame” option should become active.

Change the option to 'Off'.

The button will not appear on your lockscreen anymore.

That's it! Your private photos are now safer and more secure. Have any other photo tips for us?

Tips of the day will range from beginner-level 101 to advanced-level ninjary. If you already know this tip, keep the link handy as a quick way to help a friend.
Noticed that some TiPb comments have avatars -- pictures of the commenters -- next to the comments? Curious how you can get your own picture up there? TiPb is using the cross-site Gravatar system in our comments and though it does take a few steps to set up, they're simple and painless and we'll show them to you after the break!

Gravatar stands for Globally Recognized AVATar and it basically associates a profile picture with your email address and then any time you post a comment on a supporting site, it automagically adds your Gravatar. No fuss, no mess.

If you've already got a Gravatar, just make sure to use the email address associated with your Gravatar account when you post a comment. If you don't yet have a Gravatar, here's how to get one:

Create a new account

Go to http://www.gravatar.com

Click on Get your Gavatar today, middle right

Click on sign up for free (link above the Email or Username field)

Enter your Email Address and click the Signup button

Check your email for a confirmation message

Click the link in the confirmation message

Choose your username and profile pic

Once your email account has been confirmed, the fun begins!

Choose a username. If the one you like is already taken, try a variation.

Pick a password. (Don't make it something simple, or the same as your username)

Confirm your password and click Signup

When it complains you don't have an image yet, click on the Add one by clicking here link

Choose where you want to get your image from, your computer, an internet link, your webcam, or a previous upload

Crop the picture to suit your tastes and click Done

Choose a rating for your Gravatar (note, TiPb only accepts G rated Gravatars -- we're a family friendly site!)

And you're done!

Bonus tip: Add additional email addresses

If you use more than one email address, for example we used to use @theiphoneblog before switching to the shorter @tipb, you can click the Add an email address link, enter another email address, and confirm it. That way all your comments get associated with your Gravatar.

There you have it, a terrific way to add some personality to your comment posts. If you have any questions or need any help getting setup, leave a comment below. And once you're Gravatar is locking, leave a comment so we can see it!

Tips of the day will range from beginner-level 101 to advanced-level ninjary.
When you wake up Friday morning, don't expect to see MMS working on your iPhone immediately as AT&T will be systematically activating groups throughout the day, starting at 10 AM

When you wake up Friday morning, don't expect to see MMS working on your iPhone immediately as AT&T will be systematically activating groups throughout the day, starting at 10 AM Eastern time. Also don't forget that to enable MMS on your iPhone you must first connect to iTunes and download and install an updated carrier file.

That is, if AT&T's network holds up as millions of iPhone users rush to test the new service. That very thought has AT&T feeling extremely nervous right about now, according to MacRumors:

"early testing has been a little rocky, with AT&T seeing a fairly significant test outage yesterday that has them rushing to beef up their MMSC messaging servers. Estimates among those working on the project are that traffic on AT&T's wireless network will be about 40% higher all day on Friday as iPhone users fire pictures and video at one another."

Guess we will know soon enough...
