iOS 4.3.3 untethered jailbreak available now!

The Dev-Team has announced the release of the iOS 4.3.3 untethered jailbreak. Those of you holding off updating until this was released can now go ahead. The untethered jailbreak is still based on the exploit created by @i0nic for iOS 4.3.1. That is now three firmware releases in a row without Apple fixing the exploit; that is a first!

PwnageTool 4.3.2 is now untethered!

As you can see from the tweet above, the Dev Team has updated their popular PwnageTool to support an untethered jailbreak under iOS 4.3.2. You now have the option of using either PwnageTool or redsn0w to jailbreak iOS 4.3.2.

We have experienced some issues with jailbreaking iOS 4.3.2. Some users say they have had issues as well while others are perfectly fine. I'm personally staying on 4.2.1 for now since I have no compelling reason to upgrade.

iOS 4.3.2 untethered jailbreak (mostly) released

redsn0w 0.9.6rc13 is here and it brings with it the promise of an untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.3.2 devices including iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3 and 4, and iPad 1. iPhone 4 will be coming as soon as a fix is made, and iPad 2 is still waiting on a new exploit (yes, we're sad too.) According to the Dev-Team:

Only a few weeks after the 4.3.1 untether created by @i0n1c was released, Apple pushed out firmware 4.3.2. Thankfully, it appears Apple didn’t have a chance to fix the hole used by @i0n1c’s untether, so he ported his code over to 4.3.2’s kernel. Today’s redsn0w has been updated to include it.

i0n1c confirms current untethered jailbreak works on iOS 4.3.2

i0n1c has just confirmed via his Twitter account that the exploit behind the current untethered jailbreak is still working and alive on iOS 4.3.2. Apple has not patched it. He is currently running the jailbreak on his original iPad. Odds are that this will work for all devices minus the iPad 2.

Our newest jailbreak ninja, Cody, recently let you know how to untethered jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 via redsn0w but since then, how has it been? I personally haven't had time to upgrade to iOS 4.3.1 and re-jailbreak. Cody however has voiced that he has had a lot more springboard crashes than he did under the previous iOS 4.2.1 greenpois0n jailbreak.

Dev-Team releasing Redsn0w and PwnageTool iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak tonight!

The Dev-Team will be releasing the official tools for an untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak tonight. Both Redsn0w and PwnageTool will be available within the next 24 hours and will support all iOS devices including the iPhone 4 and latest generation iPod touch, but will not yet be compatible with the iPad 2.

redsn0w iOS 4.2.1 untethered Jailbreak "backup plan" released to beta testers [updated]

The iOS 4.2.1 untethered Jailbreak via redsn0w beta we posted about the other day is now good to go for testers. Again, this is not an untethered Jailbreak release it's just a beta that's buggy but, with testers' help and feedback, should get better and quick. Quoth the Dev Team:

With Comex not able to finish his planned iOS 4.2.1 untethered Jailbreak in time for Christmas, MuscleNerd and the iPhone Dev-Team are pushing ahead with a redsn0w "backup plan" and are looking for a few good, qualified testers.

To keep things manageable, this will be a Mac-only test program. We also request that any volunteers NOT need the ultrasn0w unlock (in case things go very wrong).
