iPad 3 release date [Poll]

When will Apple release the iPad 3?

Okay iMore nation, we'll keep this one short and sweet -- when will Apple release the iPad 3? As in, not when will Tim Cook or Phil Schiller show it off on the keynote stage (we think that will be March 7), not when can we pre-order, but what will be the actcan we line up, buy it, and get our geeky little hands on it?

Apple traditionally put the iPad up for sale on Fridays, at least they have the first two years with the original iPad and iPad 2. But which Friday?

Will it be the same week as the event, only two days later on March 9? Will they need a week to coordinate, and aim for March 16? Will they want time for pre-orders and wider distribution and go on March 23? Or will they make us wait until the end of the month and hit March 30?

And will it, once again, be U.S. only at first, or will they be more aggressive, like the iPhone 4S launch, and hit more countries, faster?

Vote in the poll up top and share your predictions in the comments below!

iOS 5 to be released as a free update on October 12th

iOS 5 is slated to be released as a free update on October 12th for current iOS users. This is a bit different than in the past where iPod Touch users typically had to pay a fee of $9.95 for major iOS updates.

This probably means the rumored October 14th release date for the next hardware version of iPhone is right on track. Software typically is released officially just a few days beforehand so the new hardware can come with new software straight out of the box.

iOS 4.2 coming next Tuesday, November 16? Delayed?

There are a couple stories floating around the web tonight involving iOS 4.2 and it's release date, with the usually reliable iPhoneHellas saying simply that it will arrive next Tuesday, November 16, and MacStories adding that it's actually been pushed back to the 16th due to iPad Wi-Fi bugs and a new GM candidate will proceed it.

For their part Apple has only ever said "November" when it comes to the iOS 4.2 release schedule.

Could next Tuesday be the day? If so, was it always scheduled to be the day or is it really a delay?

Rumor: iPad Training March 10, Commercial March 15, Released March 26?

The Examiner is claiming Apple will be training Apple Retail Store staff on the iPad starting March 10 followed by TV commercials to air starting March 15 (focusing on iBooks), and will likely be made available for sale March 26. (With overnight campers being rewarded with a "special gift").

The sources are said to be "insiders" and a SoCal Apple Store Manager who wishes (obviously) to remain anonymous.
