Slacker Radio signs new deal with ESPN, will stream live sporting events

Slacker Radio announced this morning that they have signed a new deal with ESPN that will allow them to stream live sporting events in addition to the ESPN Radio shows already offered. The live coverage will kick off tonight with the BCS Championship title available to all Slacker listeners via the web player. Future live programming will be available to Slacker Radio Plus and Slacker Premium Radio subscribers.

UPDATE: Hoax! Howard Stern leaving Sirius for $600 million iTunes deal?

There's a crazy rumor floating around the web that Howard Stern, a popular radio personality who's been in the business for 35 years, will be leaving Sirius Satellite Radio after his contract ends in January to pursue a possible deal with Apple. The rumored deal calls for a $600 million 3-year contract for an internet broadcast show distributed through iTunes, and could be made available to Apple TV owners as well.

Slacker let us know that they're pushing out a new version of their iPhone applications, which should hit the App Store any time now [Free - iTunes link]. What so streamers have to look forward to?

Aside from the massive song library and the usual enhancements and interface streamlining, there's larger album art view, recently played stations folder, an option to disable sleep mode, and for Radio Plus subscribers -- song lyrics,
