Apple posts Verizon upgrade eligibility, plans... then removes them

Apple today posted a Verizon Wireless upgrade eligibility checker on their site along with voice/data/messaging plans -- only to pull them down a short time later. While up the information seemed to confirm what we have been hearing about the data plans where there will be unlimited for $29.99 a month and the option to throw the hot spot on there with 2GB extra for an additional $20 a month.

  • 900 minutes with unlimited to 5 selected people (any network) $59.99/month
  • Unlimited $69.99/month

  • Unlimited iPhone $29.99/month

iOS 4 device compatibility - can your iPhone and iPod touch be upgraded?

During yesterday's WWDC 2010 keynote, Steve Jobs announced that iOS 4 will be a FREE update for all devices, and the iPhone and iPod touch version will be released on June 21 (iPad version is still slated for fall). The main features include multitasking, folders, spellcheck, unified inbox with threaded messages, iBooks, Bluetooth keyboard support, and custom wallpaper. AT&T rolling back upgrade eligibility dates for next iPhone?

We have some good news for those of you who are AT&T customers as it appears the carrier is rolling back upgrade eligibility dates for early adopters of last years iPhone 3GS. I have been keeping an eye on my upgrade date online for the past two weeks waiting for it to change from 11/20 with no luck just yet but a MobileCrunch reader has noticed a change to their account.

AT&T Upgrading 6 Major Cities to HSPA 7.2

AT&T has unveiled plans to upgrade their 3G network to 7.2 HSPA in various markets across the US by the end of the year. What cities happen to have all of the luck on their side? Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Miami.

If you don't live in any of those cities don't worry, I will let you all know how it is working here in Chicago. Unfortunately for those who are not so lucky, the wait for HSPA 7.2 will will take a bit longer as AT&T is planning on having 25 of the nation’s 30 largest markets upgraded by the end of 2010. There have been a lot of people out there who are very disappointed with the third generation iPhone — iPhone 3G S. They’re saying that it is pretty much the same phone as the current iPhone 3G, or that the upgrades are not enough to warrant purchasing the new iPhone 3G S. I’m here to say, they're right - the upgrades are not significant enough!
