Apple sues Motorola over XOOM Android tablet design in Europe

No sooner did Apple win a preliminary injunction against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany (which carries over to most of the rest of the EU), then they've gone and sued Motorola over the same trade dress/design infringement grounds for the XOOM tablet. (And a local German company called JAY-tech for good measure.)

First major iPad competitor, Motorola Xoom gets reviewed

Android Central reviews the Motorola Xoom, the first Android Honeycomb tablet

While we were busy getting our big iPad 2 review posted, Android Central was knocking it out the park with a complete Android 3.0 Honeycomb-powered Motorola Xoom review. It's bigger, it's Google-ier, and it certainly has more logos on the bezel, but what did our sibling site think about it?

iPad competitors: Will the true multitasking please stand up?

One of the most persistent complaints levied against the iPhone and iPad were/are the lack of multitasking. This, of course, has always been silly. However, now that BlackBerry QNX PlayBook</a>, Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets like Xoom, and HP webOS 3.0's TouchPad are set to launch, "true multitasking" is again finding its way into the bullet points of competitively positioned slide decks and ad campaigns. It's still silly but it's also more complicated now.

Does iOS offer "true multitasking", does its competitors? Let's take a look, after the break.

Google Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets to take on iPad 2

On the same day Apple and News Corp debuted The Daily, Google held their own event to once again show off Android 3.0 Honeycomb, a tablet-centric version of their mobile OS that Motorola, HTC, Samsung and others will use to compete with iPad 2.

Android Central has literally a ton of coverage up and from the looks of it Google is trying to be a little more desktop about the tablet than Apple has thus far. We'll see Android 3.0 Honeycomb on the Motorola Xoom and no doubt a plethora of other tablets this year. We'll see iPad 2 this spring and just as certainly an iOS 5 event soon as well.

Check out the Honeycomb event video after the break and let us know what you think. Anything Apple needs to pay particular attention to come iPad 2?

Motorola Xoom Superbowl ad targets Apple iPad, shows no product

According to Android Central this is Motorola's big Superbowl commercial for their new Android 3.0 Honeycomb-running Xoom tablet, and it's targeting Apple's iPad by once again trotting out the old canard of Apple fascism. I'm glad AC managed to sleuth that out because I'm not sure many mainstream football viewers are going to have any idea at all what this thing is about.

So have at it in the comments. What will people think this ad is for? Spaceballs

Motorola Xoom brings iPad competition - TiPb at CES 2011

Our good friend Phil over at AndroidCentral managed to capture a video showing off the Motorola Xoom tablet at CES. The Motorola Xoom could bring some real competition to not only the iPad but the iPad 2 as well. Packing a dual core 1Ghz processor, 10.1-inch (1280 x 800 and 16:10 aspect ratio) display, 2-mega-pixel front facing camera, 5-mega-pixel rear facing camera, microSD slot, HDMI out and a whopping 1024Mb of RAM.

The Xoom will run Android Honeycomb and supports Adobe Flash. Availability is said to be first quarter of this year and exclusive to Verizon. No details on pricing yet.

Strangely, LTE won't come immediately and will require a *

The video is after the break,  make sure you visit AndroidCentral for more details and hands on pictures, then pop back and  let us know what you think of this one in the comments!
