Tweetbot adds support for Instagram Video. No, seriously!

Gotta love the guys at Tapbots who seem to be able to go from zero to new features in no time flat, even if the new feature just happens to be Instagram Videos which has barely launched and is still, arguably more curiosity than product. Tweetbot 3 for iOS 7 loses the textures, adds the physics, and keeps all the personality

When iOS 7 was announced, one of the most frequent questions in the Apple design and development community immediately became - what will Tweetbot do? The thing about Tweetbot, and all of Tapbot's apps, was the way they looked. The personality. That was achieved through heavy, textured design. And iOS 7 was the opposite of that. All the personality was in the physics. And that's just where it's gone in Tweetbot 3 as well.

Tweetbot adds support for Instagram Video. No, seriously!

Gotta love the guys at Tapbots who seem to be able to go from zero to new features in no time flat, even if the new feature just happens to be Instagram Videos which has barely launched and is still, arguably more curiosity than product.

Since Twitter and Instagram haven't been seeing eye-to-eye on media embeds for a while now, Tweetbot continues to enjoy better support for Facebook's photo -- and now sharing -- network than the official Twitter app, and that Insta-gap is only growing. If you're already using Tweetbot, grab the update now. If you haven't tried it yet, you've got one more reason to try it now!

How to use Twitter lists to replace Google Reader

Twitter is not only a great place to converse with others that have the same interests as you, but to stay current on all kinds of news. Since Google Reader is getting canned this summer, lots of folks are left to find other ways of keeping up with news feeds. If you don't fancy learning a new app or finding another RSS service to take its place, you can use the Twitter account you already have to stay up to date on news via the lists feature.

Here's how.

Thou shalt have no brand before Twitter

Tweetbot just updated to support Twitter's 1.1 API, and to partially support Twitter's new interface display guidelines. Come March 5, the old version of the app will stop working, and if you want to keep accessing Twitter, you'll have to do it with the new app, with it's new, more standardized look. Tweetbot won't be alone. Right now, every Twitter app designer is likely wrestling with the same problem -- how to conform to Twitter's new guidelines without losing what makes their app distinct, how to compromise without sacrificing what makes them special.
