How are you typing on your iPhone?

Which way do you prefer to type on your iPhone? There are a lot of options -- horizontal or vertical keyboard, two hands and double thumbs or one hand holding and the other poking. If you're using iPhone 4, have you changed the way you type to avoid covering the lower left hand corner?

Let us know your primary or preferred typing method in the poll above, and if you switch things up for certain apps, or have any special tricks to make the text fly, let us know the details in the comments.

How are you typing on your iPhone?

Right now: portrait, one hand, thumb typing. When both hands are free: portrait, two hand hold, two thumbs. When I need to lay down some text: Think Outside Stowaway bluetooth kb.

Usually portrait using two thumbs though I can go one handed. Rarely do I go landscape. Is there a point to this poll?

I always thought that typing with two hands and two thumbs in landscape would be easiest. However, I find that doing this in portrait is faster, more comfortable, and allows me to be more accurate.

Portrait keyboard, one hand holding tightly, one finger poking, one eye watching signal bars fall, one ear hearing simultaneous speakerphone call drop, one hand making throwing motion, one iPhone4 flying towards wall, one dent forming in wall, one display fracturing.

Left hand holding, forefinger and middle finger of right hand typing. -- I'm a Tap Tap Revenge player, that's why.

I was a big advocate for wanting landscape typing on the iPhone. I now find myself constantly using the orientation lock to prevent landscape typing!

I associate landscape typing with high school girls and their qwerty flip phones - texting the day away.

I hold mine with my right hand and type with my right thumb. If I switch to landscape it turns into both hands and both thumbs.

Portrait with index finger. I'm very fast and find landscape slows me down, the finger has too far to travel.

I do the majority of typing in portrait and with my thumb if the hand that's holding the phone. Some people see me type and they didn't think typing on an iPhone could be so fast and easy. Sometimes I don't even look at the keyboard and i cab type accurately. For instance I cab type in my password on the lockscreen and not look at it. I guess I've memorized the spaces. Since purchasing my first iPhone I've never had any qualms about typing on the iphone, and I thought it would be a horrible experience but on the contrary I love it!

Portrait, two hands two thumbs... but now that Dragon Dictation has been updated with in-app SMS I don't type anymore.

Portrait with two hand holding and two thumbs typing. Landscape is to skinny and wide for me. Ends up being slower. I think I'm faster in portrait on the iPhone keyboard than the Blackberry 8800 I had. It took a bit of a press to push on the Blackberry thumb-board keys. With iPhone, you just zoom through.

I hold the phone with my left hand and type with my right index finger and left thumb. It's kind of weird but it works pretty well. At first I wanted landscape so bad. But I actually hate it now. I agree landscape is for teenage girls. I thought it would be easier to type and give you more space between or on buttons but the difference is barely negligible. I think I can ftype faster on my iPhone than I can on my pc. It's a close at least.

Landscape, 2 thumbs. For whatever reason, I cannot type with 2 thumbs in portrait - it's as though my thumbs are too fat (and I have quite small hands!). Whatever. I'm with Dexter - I'd love a landscape lock!

I use both portrait and landscape, two hands two thumbs. I still manage to get words wrong... every time. Its been almost a year too, sigghhh

I prefer landscape two handed, but I can type in portrait with one hand and one thumb (either hand), or hold with right hand and use left index finger for accuracy. I don't make any position change for iPhone 4 antenna 'cause I've got a case on it.

Both orientations. Portrait with iPhone 4 resting on 4 fingers typing one thumb or holding with both with two thumbs and phone resting on fingers. Landscape with two thumbs standard video game controller grip

Normally I use two hand and two thumbs for speed, but if I'm multi-tasking, I use one hand and one thumb, so I have a free hand.

Most votes on "Portrait keyboard, two hands holding, two thumbs typing" ?! I've never typed like this. When I have two hands available, I switch to landscape. If in portrait, I use only one finger to hold/type.

Portrait mode with two thumbs typing. I feel like I type this way because this is the way I learned since I started out with the first gen iPhone. I think if landscape mode had been around when I started using the iPhone I would be using it.

Portrait: 2 hand/ 2 thumbs or portrait: 1 hand/ 1 thumb. Landscape: 2 hands/ 2 index fingers or 2 thumbs.

So, we had to suffer an entire year under iOS 3 for the 20% of people whining for landscape. Praise Jobs we now have portrait lock.

What do you mean how do you hold it with both hands and type with two thumbs? There's a buncha ways, but i support the bottom with my pinkies an type with both thumbs
