The timer, which works on both the iPhone and the Apple Watch, will estimate cooking times based on a particular recipe. There are five categories available, chicken and pork, eggs, seafood, steak, and vegetables. Each category has a number of different recipes to choose from.

In your chosen recipe, you can choose how much of something you're going to cook, and how well you want it cooked. From there, the app will give you an estimated cooking time. Press the "Start Smart Timer" button when you start cooking. Once you get started, you can pause, rewind and cancel the timer if you need to. Epicurious will also give you a "last tip" for cooking that particular item.

You can grab this update for Epicurious from the App Store right now.
