Secretlab, maker of the incredible Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 gaming chair, has today unveiled a brand new cheaper version that the company says is 20% cheaper than its predecessor while delivering “95% of the same premium experience.” 

Dubbed the “Secretlab TITAN Evo Lite,” Secretlab says it has retained all of the most important features and ergonomics from the premium version while removing some of the “luxury” features to bring down costs. 

Full disclosure, the new Secretlab Titan Evo Lite does still cost £389/$449, so while it’s not a “budget” chair per se, it is indeed 20% cheaper than the standard TITAN Evo 2022. So what does Secretlab’s “Lite” offering promise for its more affordable price tag, and how is it different from the top-of-the-range model? 

Secretlab TITAN Evo Lite - on paper 

The TITAN Evo Lite boasts broadly the same design as the regular TITAN Evo, and at first glance, they look pretty much identical. It’s available in five of Secretlab’s best-selling colors, two leatherette finishes (Stealth and Black), and three SoftWeave colors (Cookies & Cream, Charcoal Blue, and Black). 

The Lite model offers slightly less premium versions of the aforementioned leather and SoftWeave covers, with the NEO Hybrid Leatherette and the SoftWeave Plus reserved for the more expensive Evo. 

There’s no small option for users below 169cm or 5’6”, and the Magnetic Memory Foam Pillow with Cooling Gel doesn’t come included. The armrests are 4D adjustable but don’t come with CloudSwap, so there’s no option to change them out for different ones. There is a lumbar support, but it doesn’t have 4-way adjustability. Finally, the wheelbase of the regular model is nylon. (The XL version, however, does come with an aluminum version)

Having extensively reviewed the original TITAN Evo 2022, I can comfortably say that there are no huge omissions here, and Secretlab is right that some of the features from my chair are a luxury. The only one I’d highlight is the memory foam pillow, which is really a necessity for optimal comfort when using the chair. An extra you’ll probably need to buy at some point, if not straight away.

Given the wide range of prices chairs can be, it’s hard to know how much you should be spending to make your home office/lounge/gaming setup great. The Boulies Master Max 24, with some nice features at a low price, tries to straddle that line between too cheap and too expensive and does it admirably.

The Boulies Master Max 2024 can only be bought from the Boulies site for $499 with the Ultraflex PU upholstery coming in Black, Brown, and Blue and the Water Repellant Fabric upholstery available in Charcoal Grey, Como, Slate Blue, and Ash Grey. The stock has not fluctuated majorly since I’ve been watching it and it arrived in just a few days. For how comfortable and strong the chair is, this is a very reasonable price. 

Boulies Master Max 2024: Build quality and ease of construction

Unfortunately, one of the worst parts of the Boulies Master Max 2024 is building it. Aside from the discomfort of lugging heavy chair parts around to connect it, there were two central problems in the build process. First, the instructions in the manual are rather unclear. I didn’t have too much of a problem putting it together as I have built similar chairs but someone relatively inexperienced may struggle. 

Furthermore, a bracing that connects the seat to the cushion at the back is rather finicky and hard to place. You need to change the chair’s position specifically to fit it and, even then, it feels a bit like guesswork. 

There are three central proponents making up the chair: the wheels section, the seat, and the backrest. This is a relatively standard setup for most chairs. Once built, the Boulies Master Max 2024 is a very sturdy chair with a solid frame and nice armrests. There is a little bit of plastic near the bottom of those armrests that gives away a slightly cheaper feel and the top of my left armrest has a small crack not present on the other. This makes my left arm wobble a little more than the right. Outside of this, every other part of this chair has a great feel and build quality. 

Boulies Master Max 2024: Looks and style

The Boulies Master Max 2024 looks great and it has tonnes of unusual colors, allowing you to really customize your space. It is noticeably a bit more on the gaming side than a traditional office chair but not so much that it sticks out in an office setting. 

I found it working at its best in a more casual home office environment, placing the formality of work with the comfort of home. Though the sides of the chair are curved to hold your back, they make the chair stand out in a smooth way. Perhaps more angular than a normal office chair, it adds personality to the design. 

Boulies Master Max 2024: Comfort

The Boulies Master Max 2024 is a very comfortable chair, especially given how rigid the back support looks from the outside. Once you’ve sat down, that support helps to align your back without feeling invasive. Armrests can be moved with relative ease and a lever on either side of the bottom of the chair can adjust height and incline quickly. 

The material on the seat itself feels great to sit on, allowing just enough slack under weight to sink in. This sinking feeling is particularly good after a few hours in the chair as you can customise the height of the lumbar support to fit the groove of your back. It’s quite a big chair which means I, a 6’1 bigger guy could comfortably stretch my legs while sitting. Someone with a smaller frame may consider it a little too large but the comfortable materials should help out. 

Boulies Master Max 2024: Competition

We loved the Secretlab Titan last year and this can be purchased for a very similar price. If you need something a bit bigger and want a ‘gamer’ style chair, this is probably a good choice.  For a lot more, you could pick up the Herman Miller Aeron Chair at $1,275 but for half the price, the Boulies Master Max 2024 is an excellent choice.

Verdict

Though a tough build process may let it down somewhat, the Boulies Master Max 2024 combines a reasonable price point with excellent comfort to provide a chair that fits in almost any environment. 

“Gaming chair” need not equal “primary colored racing chair.” That seems to be the message the Herman Miller x Logitech G Vantum is projecting. A fresh collaboration from the premium office furniture manufacturer and Logitech’s gaming-focussed division, the Vantum instead wants to tick the adjustability and comfort boxes that gamers request while packaging it up in a design that wouldn’t look out of place in a fancy office.

It comes together in a seat that’s very comfortable, happy to accommodate people of all sizes, and with a slick design that doesn’t scream “GAMER!” at the top of its lungs. The Vantum commands a high price tag, but does well to make its high cost feel well-earned.

Herman Miller x Logitech G Vantum: Price and availability

The Herman Miller x Logitech G Vantum is available now, price at $995 / £845. That’s expensive for a gaming or office chair, no doubt about it. But it’s also far more affordable than other Herman Miller chairs, which usually command an asking price north of $1000. That’s despite the quality on offer here, which doesn’t feel as though it's scrimping on the premium that the brand usually delivers.

And keep in mind that you’re getting a 12-year warranty here too — you’ll usually see a 3-5 year warranty as standard for a chair, depending on the brand. So there’s presumed longevity and support factored into that price too. Still, a great chair can be bought for just a few hundred dollars, too. So weigh up your options before dropping close to a grand, however good the Vantum has proved to be — there are lots of great cheap office chairs out there.

Herman Miller x Logitech G Vantum: What’s good?

The Herman Miller x Logitech G Vantum gaming chair is a real looker. Rather than the racing-chair aesthetics of your usual high-end gaming chair, the Vantum instead is far more refined and sophisticated. 

Three colorways are available — an all-black option, a red and black option, and a white and black option. 

All three have discrete red accents where their adjustment dials sit. Mixing mesh fabrics with hard matte plastics, the Vantum’s rigid plastic frame has an almost skeletal look, with just the “bones” of the chair’s back frame present, rather than a full shell covering the rear side. 

It gives the impression of a much lighter, less imposing piece of furniture, letting it more easily fit in a standard office environment than your average, ‘loud’ gaming chair.

It’s as easy to set up as it is lovely to look at, too. It ships in a very large box, but that’s because, thankfully, it comes almost fully assembled.

There’s just three parts that need slotting together — the wheeled feet with a gas-powered shaft, the seat and backrest, and the headrest — and no tools are required to connect them. It’s just a matter of sliding the components together, and you’re good to go, taking less than five minutes. Short of being fully assembled, it’s the easiest office chair I’ve ever had to put together. 

When completed, the seat weighs 16.7kg, a good weight for keeping the seat in place without being so heavy as to be a drag to move.

The Vantum opts to put its user in an “active, forward-leaning” position by default, intended to make you more alert for “better reaction time and increased focus” — important traits for the pro gamer, but just as useful for the would-be slacker struggling to keep their engagement up when working from home. It’s good for your posture too, straightening your back out and encouraging you to lift your chest and keep your chin up. 

Ample padding (making use of polyurethane foam) is in the seat and headrest, while the polyester mesh backing (made from 100% post-consumer recycled materials) includes a suspension backrest with adjustable lumbar (your lower back) support and thoracic (the upper and middle parts of your back) support.

Adjustment options are plentiful and very pleasant to sit with. Tilt, tension, and recline can all be adjusted with a recline range of 19 degrees (between 98.1 117.1 degrees) giving you some lean-back flexibility. It won’t go completely flat… but that’s what beds and couches are for…

Under the seat on the left-hand side is a red knob for adjusting how far back the chair can tilt, through six numbered steps, while a red knob on the right lets you adjust how much pressure is required to get that lean back, through seven numbered steps. I loved that these were specific, numbered steps, letting me precisely find and record the combination that I found most comfortable. It’s particularly helpful if you’re sharing the seat with someone else with differing tension preferences.

Onto the seat, and its wide 20-inch cushion should be comfortable for a large majority of people. There’s an extra inch on either side between the end of the cushion and where the arms start, giving a little leeway for those needing a roomier fit. Those armrests can raise and lower, as well as their surfaces moving left, right, forwards, and backward smoothly, and have a gently sloping finish too, making it easier to place your arms when resting with a controller in your hands. They’re wide and spacious, and easy to adjust.

To lift the seat there’s a lever under the right side of the seat, while a handle on the bottom right lets you adjust the seat depth too. At a maximum of 17.5 inches, the seat depth here is a little tighter than most gaming chairs, so factor that in depending on your comfort expectations.

Lumbar support is not height adjustable, but its two-point flexi pressure points mean it does well to hit the right back spots regardless. Turning either of two red knobs on either side of the lumbar support adjusts its tension. The thoracic support doesn’t offer any adjustment but does well to sit from the middle of the average back to between the shoulders — if it doesn’t suit you, it can be removed.

As for the neck and headrest, that sits on a rigid, locking arm. Though height is tricky to adjust because of how stiff its slot is, tilting the headrest is easy and hands-free — pushing back slightly with your head and neck lets you easily find the sweetspot for keeping your chin up and face forward. I tended to use it more as a neckrest than a headrest, with its curve a good fit for the nape of my neck.

It makes for a very comfortable chair, and one that does its best to support you in having good posture for as long as you’re seated in it. You’re well supported from the lowest point of your back right through to the tilt of your neck, with the seat firm enough to keep you from slouching, while soft enough to let you sit for long periods of time without feeling sore. The mesh fabric backrest is very breathable too, meaning you’ll never feel like the chair is heating up behind you, even on uncomfortable warm summer days.

Herman Miller x Logitech G Vantum: What’s not so good?

This probably says more about my posture and slime-like core strength than it does about the Vantum chair, but if you fancy a good ol’ slouch, this chair really doesn’t make it easy for you. It’s actively trying to make you think about your posture at all times, and works to keep your back and neck in a healthy alignment as best as it can. That can hardly be held against it — but when you’ve just come last in your fourth Call of Duty deathmatch in a row, you might wish you could jelly your way down into a ball a bit.

The arms of the chair are full of adjustment points, and can be placed exactly where you’d like them — unless you didn’t want arms on your chair altogether. While I appreciate the fact that the chair comes almost fully assembled straight out of the box, having the option to remove the arms would be useful for anyone with a lower desk that might not be able to otherwise slide the chair snugly underneath with its arms attached.

Similarly, raising the height of the neck support is quite difficult — it takes such force to raise or lower it that it’s difficult to fine tune precisely where it sits, a shame given how easy it is to tweak basically every other element of the set up.

And finally, there's the price. As far as Herman Miller chairs go, this is relatively affordable, and you shouldn’t discount the value of having a 12 year warranty attached, either. However, any office or gaming chair over the $300 mark in the current economic climate is unavoidably pricey. It justifies the price tag with a premium experience, but it’s worth checking out our best budget office chairs list if your bank balance is a bit more modest.

Herman Miller x Logitech G Vantum: Competition

Competition is fierce in the gaming chair space, and often much more competitive when it comes to pricing than what the premium-directed Herman Miller gear points towards. We recently review (and loved) the updated Secretlab Titan Evo, which comes in at roughly half the price (depending on configuration) and is supremely comfortable. It leans a little more toward standard gaming chair aesthetics, but comes in colorways that aren’t too noisy. The Cooler Master Caliber X1C is cheaper still at around the $400 mark and can lean back completely prone if that flexibility is important to you.

Herman Miller x Logitech G Vantum: Should you buy it?

Herman Miller x Logitech G Vantum: Verdict

I’ve been sitting at the Herman Miller x Logitech G Vantum every day for a few months now, and I’ve really fallen in love with it. It has great style and adjustability, and its efforts to improve my posture are appreciated — it’s like having someone checking in on me at all times, keeping me from curling over. 

Though I’d have liked removable arms as an option, and an easier-to-adjust headrest height, all other customization points are within easy reach and well-designed to make finding a seated sweet spot very easy. It’s not a perfect fit for larger people, and you’ll need a bank account balance on the larger side too. But for those that fit the bill, you’ll get many good years of service from the Herman Miller x Logitech G Vantum.

The Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 is one of iMore’s most highly-rated chairs. It’s big, comfy, and extremely well-built. It’s the newest chair in the Secretlab line, avaialble in an incredible number of colors and materials. It’s also not cheap. The Titan Evo starts at $439, and then goes up to $1099 for the top-of-the-line Napa Leather option, making it one of the more expensive gaming chairs on the market. It's also available in three size options. There are small and regular size options that both cost the same, and then an XL option that costs $50 more than the smaller ones. The version here is the XL. While you definitely get what you pay for, is it possible to get a similar experience with one of Secretlabs older chairs?

The Secretlab Omega 2020 is still a fantastic chair. In my review, I scored it four and a half stars, the only real shortcoming being that it’s not quite for my body shape or others like me. Otherwise, materials, patterns and build quality are also excellent, and you can grab one from $389 up to $459 for add-ons and premium materials. Because it’s one of Secretlabs older models, it’s reduced in effectively a permanent sale. That’s a fair amount less than the newer Titan Evo — but is the upgrade worth the extra, or should you stick with the older model?

We’ve put them head to head to find out whether you can save some money on the old one and get a similar experience, or whether you should spend the extra dollars. 

Titan Evo 2022 VS Omega 2020: Build and materials

The Titan Evo is made out of some of the best materials around. The fabric used on the surface of the chair has to be touched to be believed. It’s soft and textured, with some lovely give to it. It also feels strong, as if it could take some punishment. The PU leather is also impressive, feeling as close to real leather as I think it’s possible for fake leather. There’s oodles of metal all over the place. The metal wheelbase in particular is very impressive, spreading out large enough to not fit easily through most doorways in my house.

The chair feels like a tank. A big, comfy tank. It’s certainly built like one — for the most part. The only thing that feels a little funky on the chair is the 4D armrests. It's cool that they can pan around in all different directions, but there’s a wobble present that takes some of the luster away from what is otherwise a spectacularly well-made chair.

It’s an issue that’s not present on the Omega 2020. While there is a little give in the armrests, they otherwise feel phenomenally stable. The rest of the Omega 2020 is similar to the Titan Evo 2022. The materials are again fantastic, the PU again feeling uncannily like real leather, and the metal making the chair far too heavy for one person to lift up the stairs. It does fall down in one key area compared to the Titan, however.

These are both chairs with phenomenal levels of tilt. The back falls back far enough to let you stare at the ceiling, and the seat base tilts even more, effectively letting you lay down flat. It’s an impressive feat — and one that feels better on the Titan Evo. The Titan Evo feels more strength in the tilt mechanism. The Omega, while sturdy, has more give to its tilt mechanisms, and it can feel a little scary going backward.

While the armrests are a little rattly, the sturdiness of the tilt mechanism on the Titan means it wins out this round.

Winner: Titan Evo 2022

Titan Evo 2022 VS Omega 2020: Ease of use

While there are loads of levers and nobs on the Titan Evo, they are all easy to learn and even easier to use. They all feel sturdy, and are within easy reach, even on my enormous Titan Evo XL. There’s a lever that unlocks the tilt function under the left side of the chair, a lever that controls the height of the chair under the right side, and a handle that tilts the backrest on the right side. The two levers on the underside are both plastic but have a pleasing feel to them and the action is positive and easy to click into place. The lever for the backrest has a lovely almost car-like handle on it, making swinging the backrest back super easy and convenient.

There are then two wheels on the backrest itself. These control the adjustable lumbar on the backrest, and both feel excellent to use. There’s one on either side, with one controlling the height of the support and the other controlling the depth. The armrests also feature loads of buttons and switches. There are two metal switches that unlock the armrest height adjustment that move with a satisfying ‘clunk’. These are on the outside of each armrest and are easy to adjust. There’s then a button under the armrests on the inside of the chair, and they control how close the armrests are to you. These, again, click nicely and the armrests move with a smooth slider. The final buttons are on the end of the armrests, and they control the swivel and forwards and backward movement of the rests. These are also metal, and feel great to the touch.

All these controls may seem overwhelming, but you quickly get used to what all of them do. It’s as easy to use as any other desk chair, with intuitive controls that are all easy to reach.

Things are a very similar story in the Omega 2020. The controls to manipulate the tilt and height and the armrest controls are identical, all working and feeling as good as the controls on the Titan Evo 2022. It does lack the lumbar adjustment nobs, but that's only because it lacks the lumbar adjustment of the bigger chair. Either way, the controls on both are equally as sturdy and easy to use —  so this one is an easy draw.

Titan Evo 2022 VS Omega 2020: Comfort and features

The Titan Evo 2022 is, to put it simply, one of the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in. The seat base is wide and fairly shallow with plenty of room for my generous frame. The seat cushion has enough give to be comfortable, but stiff enough that you don’t immediately sink to the hard cushion base of the course of the day. The bucketing on the backrest is excellent and keeps you in place no matter how fast you might spin around on the spinner. The armrests are supportive and, while plastic, comfortable enough not to notice the hardness of the material.

The most comfortable part of the chair is the adjustable Lumbar support on the backrest of the chair. With the nobs mentioned above, you can make the support more or less pronounced, and you can change the vertical position as well to make sure it’s in the right place on your back. It can be a little tricky to dial it in, but when it’s there it’s great. The whole package adds up to be a desk-bound throne that keeps you comfy throughout the day.

The Omega 2020 is also comfortable, but not as comfortable as the Titan Evo 2022. See, mileage may vary with this one. The cushion material is similar to that of the Titan, but the racecar-like bucketing on the seat digs into my legs as I sit on the chair throughout the day. In this regard, the chair isn’t as comfortable to me. For those with less posterior girth, however, things will be a lot more comfortable. The slimmer seat cushion has all the same softness and stiffness benefits as with the new one, and that bucketing will do more to keep you in place during long sitting sessions. For me, it’s simply ‘not it’. For others, it could well be the one.

Perhaps it's because of the size options that are available on the Titan Evo. My XL is designed to fit taller and larger frames, while the Omega is designed for smaller ones. You can of course get the regular and small sizes in the Titan Evo that are closer to the Omega in size, but they lack the severe bucketing - so, to my mind, they are likely to be more comfortable.

The Omega does lack some of the other comfortable features of the bigger chair. There’s no adjustable lumbar support on the backrest, and the armrests are a little harder than those on the Titan. It also doesn’t go quite so far up on the back, and the head pillow that comes in the box doesn’t adjust quite as well as it does on the Titan. Don’t get me wrong, the Omega is still a super comfortable chair, but the Titan just feels a little more so.

Titan Evo 2022 VS Omega 2020: Look and style

If you’re looking for something more simple, then the Titan is the way to go. It lacks some of the over-the-top styling queues of other gaming chairs, opting instead to be smoother and less ‘in your face’. My version with the SoftWeave fabric looks great, and slips perfectly into my workspace. Beyond that, however, there’s not much to comment on.

The Omega goes a little further. I simply adore the way this thing looks. It's like a racing seat on a stand, replete with bucketing and shaping. Mine also has one of the very cool special designs on, in particular the K/DA All Out design. It is stunning. There’s glittering thread embroidered into small character logos and KDA on the backrest. There’s more almost fractal-looking embroidery on the backrest and seat base, as well as shards of holographic PU that shimmers in the light. It looks amazing and feels like it’ll last, too.

These designs are available on the Titan Evo, but the shape of the chair is still less intricate than the Omega. The Omega is everything all at once and looks great doing it. If you want the comfort of the Titan and the louder design, however, you can do that. I wish my chair had the design, but alas, no such luck.

Between the two, I have to say that the Omega looks better than the Titan. It’s a gorgeous chair even without the snazzy design on it, but that design just elevates it further. Want something that doesn’t shout super loud about itself? The Titan Evo is the way to go. Want something that stands out? The Omega is the way to go.

Titan Evo 2022 VS Omega 2020: Extras

In the Titan’s box, you get a couple of extras. The neck pillow is big and super soft, with magnets in the back to make it easy to adjust up and down at the top of the backrest. Secretlab's pillows are always great, and this one is absolutely no different. Apart from the little tool kit you get as well, however, that’s pretty much it. While you can swap the covers of the armrests out, you don’t get any extra ones in the box.

You can buy some extras, and they’re pretty great. I’m currently enjoying the Technogel armrest covers. They’re a thin layer of gel covered with a PU membrane that are super soft and really makes resting those elbows really comfortable. I am told the PlushCell memory foam armrest covers are also brilliant, with the same memory foam and soft fabric you’ll find in the cushions, albeit attached to an armrest cover. You can buy a lumbar cushion from the website as well, although it's a little thin.

Instead, I am lucky enough to be able to nab the Lumbar cushion from the Omega. You can buy it online, but it comes in the box with the older chair. It is a wonderful cushion. Just the right thickness, and covered with a super soft microfibre fabric. It’s thin enough that I still get the Lumbar support from the built-in adjustments but thick enough to be really comfortable.

In fact, for extras you get in the box, the Omega wins out. That Lumbar cushion comes along with a still relatively adjustable and consistently excellent neck cushion in addition to the small tool set that you can use to not only build but adjust small parts of the chair. Apart from the armrests, you can buy pretty much all the same add-ons as you can for the Titan, including new wheels that are better for different surfaces. You know I love my Titan Evo, but the Older Omega 2020 has this one.

Titan Evo 2022 VS Omega 2020: Value and availability

The Secretlab Titan is not cheap. It starts at $439, and goes all the way up to a $1099 Napa leather version. The version I have is the Softweave in the Cookies and Cream decoration which costs $589. That is, for lack of a better term, an expensive chair. For what you get, it’s well worth the price, but it is a tough price to swallow.

It is also supremely available. There are loads of designs, with only a few out of stock. There are different finishes, including a PU leather, the aforementioned softweave, and Napa leather, as well as an Exotic officially licensed Lamborghini option. If they go out of stock, they are frequently brought back, and you can preorder out-of-stock options to make sure you get one.

The Omega on the hand is a fair bit less expensive. It currently starts at $389, and you can choose between a few different decorations and materials. My version is the K/DA League of Legends special edition, which comes in at $459. That’s a PU leather version of the chair. While the chair is slightly cheaper, however, you’ll find that because it is now end of line, there are far fewer options to choose from as the chair is no longer being built. You’ll save money, yes, but you’ll get fewer designs to choose from.

In this case, the Titan pulls out slightly ahead. The chair may be more expensive, but you’ve more options to choose from, and you still get excellent value for money. If you want to save money above all else though? Then the Omega 2020 is the way to go.

WINNER: Titan Evo 2022

And the winner is…the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022

Before talking about why the Titan is better, it’s well worth reminding ourselves that both of these are fabulous chairs. The Omega, despite being slightly older, comes very close in build quality, and even does better when you look at what stuff you get in the box. It even, in my opinion, looks better than the Titan. Honestly, if you’re looking to save a little money when you’re buying a desk chair from Secretlab, then the Omega is a great way to do it.

It does, however, trip over occasionally when you compare it to the Titan Evo 2022. The Titan is far more feature-packed, with more lumbar adjustability in the back and with sturdier feeling hinges and tilting. It’s also more comfortable for people of all shapes and sizes. If the bigger XL chair would be too big for you, you can opt for one of a range of different sizes from the XS for kids through an S and regular size. The XL will cost you a lot more, so if you can fit in the regular, it’s worth the saving. 

The Titan beats out the Omega in most ways, including comfort and build. It also, in my opinion, presents a better value package, and it’s easier to get a hold of. While both of these Secretlab options are excellent, the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 is the better gaming and desk chair.

Secretlab's chairs are well known for being absolutely phenomenal. The Titan Evo 2022 is one of iMore’s highest-rated products, with high praise given to comfort, build quality, and looks. The Omega 2020 may not be the newest in the Secret Lab stable, but it's still an incredible chair that can be had for quite a bit less money than other chairs in the line.

I’ve been testing the Secret Lab Omega 2020 for quite some time now, and my rear end and back can both tell you that it’s a fantastic option if you’re looking for a top-of-the-line gaming chair for a little less than you might pay otherwise. Over the Holiday season, this chair has also seen more price drops, so it’s well worth heading over to Secret Lab’s website and taking a look at the 2020 family.

Secretlab Omega 2020: Price and availability

You can head on over to Secretlab's website to find yourself the perfect Omega 2020. There are some options that are out of stock, like the standard SoftWeave versions, but there are plenty of cool designs to choose from in the PRIME 2.0 PU leather. 

The chair starts at $389 for some of the esports versions, and you'll pay a little more for some of the character chairs. The chair that was reviewed is priced at $459.

Secretlab Omega 2020: Looks and build

The Omega looks like a racing seat. A properly bucketed chair that drips with that gamer style, it’s almost like it’s been pulled from a very expensive sports car and plonked on a desk chair stand. It comes in a couple of finishes in the form of PRIME 2.0 PU leather or more premium Napa leather, although the latter comes at a higher price. There are also some really cool designs you can grab, with League of Legends, World of Warcraft, and even designs based on your favorite Esports teams.

The Omega in question here is decorated in the K/DA All-Out colorway, and it looks pretty fab. There’s glittering silver stitching all over the chair, embroidered into shimmering holographic PU that looks absolutely incredible. Can you see it when you’re sitting on it? No. But every time you go to get a drink or you walk past your battle station you’ll see it and smile. The quality of these designs is very good, and I can imagine that the stitching and inlays will last a good long time.

Materials are equally impressive. The PU that the chair is covered in is soft and comfortable and feels more like leather than most plastic alternatives I’ve laid my fingers on. It feels durable, and perhaps most importantly for those of us who like a glass of juice at our desks, it’s easy to clean too.

The metal of the wheeled stand is very solid, and the wheels underneath are smooth and agile. Moving the chair around on them is easy, and the whole stand feels phenomenally well-built - even if it was put together by me.

Secretlab Omega 2020: Ease of use

On that point, putting the chair together was simple in concept, but a little tricky in execution. It’s by no means impossible - but you’ll want to make sure there’s someone around that can help you out.

It’s tricky because all the bits are reasonably big and bulky. The tools that come in the box are excellent, and once you’ve got everything where it needs to be, screwing it together is really a doddle. It’s holding things in place that’s difficult, even with two people. Once it’s all put together, however, using the chair is extremely easy.

There are two levers that tilt the chair and raise and lower the hydraulic stem that sits directly under the seat. One lever unlocks a mechanism that means the whole chair can swing back, somehow still staying stood up on the wide wheelbase. The other lever raises and lowers the chair so that people of different heights can be accounted for. I found both of these extremely easy to use, although you have to be sure not be leaning back when you unlock the tilt function lest you wish for a surprise as you lurch backward. 

Sending you backward further still is the little lever on the right side of the chair base itself - imagine where your car seat's recline lever is, and you’ll find the exact same on the Secret Lab Omega. Pull the lever and the backrest of the seat swings backward, reclining backward even more degrees, effectively letting you completely recline in the chair. Is this necessary? No. Will I ever use it more than once? Also no. Is it really cool? Yes. Very.

The armrests are equally cool and easy to use, with many directions of travel. A lovely metal lever under each makes the rest rise and lower, so that you can match it to the height of your desk. There’s also a little button that lets you rotate the rest slightly in either direction, with a satisfying ‘clunk’. Under the armrest on the inside of the chair is another button that you can use to bring the armrest closer to you, and further away if you need more space. All of these buttons and levers feel great to use, and they function perfectly too, with each movement feeling useful, and more importantly, imminently useable.

While there are an incredible number of options available at your fingertips when you’re using the chair, none of them feel overwhelming. You soon learn what each lever or button does, and you won’t find yourself looking to raise the chair only to swing yourself backward by accident. Those functions are all very smooth too, and they feel phenomenally well-built. While I may not be using the ridiculous amount of tilt available, having so much just means it's easier to dial in my most comfortable position.

Secretlab Omega 2020: Comfort and accessories

In the box, there are a range of extras that make the chair more comfortable. Firstly is the head cushion, which slips over the chair's headrest with surprisingly effective elastic straps. You can slide the cushion to your preferred height so that you can keep your neck comfy while you’re sitting down. The cushion is soft, but firm enough that it doesn’t instantly give way the moment you put pressure on it. Supportive and comfortable are the operative words here.

Then, there’s the lumbar support cushion that also comes in the box. It's another slab of memory foam and it is fantastic. It’s perfectly spongy, but, like the neck cushion, firm enough to be supportive. There’s no way to fix it to the chair, but it’s kept in place by your back when you’re sitting in the chair. While it’s a little annoying to get into place, it also means it's endlessly adjustable - which is always helpful.

All these bits that come in the box, in addition to the endless amounts of customization, make the Omega supremely comfortable. There’s plenty of support provided by the severe bucketing, and the adjustment means that almost anyone can get comfortable.

I say almost because for some it may not work quite so well. If you’re taller, for example, it may not be perfect. The backrest is tall, but not enough to reach the right point in the neck for those that are blessed in the height department. At its highest point, the chair might not go high enough to relieve pressure on your legs, and you might feel a little cramped. 

Equally, if you are slightly heavier set, then you might struggle a little. I do - I find the bucketing in the seat portion of the chair to be a little too much for my generous thighs, and over the course of the day the stiff padding digs into my legs. For those of average height and girth, the Omega is likely going to be pretty much perfect - but for some of us, the larger Titan will be better.

Secretlab Omega 2020: Things I didn’t like

There’s really not much here to not like in all honesty. It’s a slight bother to put together, with heavy parts that while you can assemble solo, really require help, and slipping the screws into their holes can be tricky. Really though, that's nitpicking, because construction is, for the most part, straightforward and easy to follow on the excellent instructions.

Price is perhaps the biggest bugbear that you might find here. While it has a relatively high price compared to some budget offerings, it competes with a number of less accomplished options that don't have the same build or features. At $459 for the version I have here, you're getting one of the best desk chairs out there for the price, with a cool custom design embroidered into it - but if that's just too much to spend, then you'll have to look elsewhere.

The armrests are a little wiggly, but that comes with their incredible amount of adjustability. All in all, while there are small technical niggles, nothing sticks out as egregiously problematic - if you buy this chair, you’ll be very very happy with it.

Competition

Most of the competition for the Omega 2020 comes from Secretlab itself. There’s the Titan 2020 which is a little bigger, wider, and more expensive, and then there’s the Titan Evo 2022 which comes in a few different sizes. With latest version, the Titan Evo 2022, you’ll pay a great deal more, but you’ll also get a chair that blends the strongest points of the Titan 2020 and the Omega 2020 into one neat package. If you want to save some money, however, the Omega is the way to go. As said before however, if you're a little bigger, then one of the bigger Titan Evo 2022 models or the Titan 2020 are the best options.

The offerings from AndaSeat are equally tempting competition, and in our review, we rated them very highly. AndaSeat actually used to make racing seats for cars, so that may sway you in their favor - although for my money, and the fact that there are loads more designs and finishes, I’d go for the Secretlab Omega 2020 over something like the AndaSeat Dark Demon or similar.

There’s also Boulies Master Series which we recently reviewed, scoring it very highly. It comes in at a slightly lower price point, and has many of the same features as the Omega to boot. In the long run, however, that extra you’ll pay for the Secretlab goes towards a more comfortable seat cushion and more premium build and materials. It’s definitely worth the extra.

Should you buy the Omega 2020?

You should buy the Secretlab Omega 2020 if:

• You're of average height and build.
• You like the Secretlab aesthetic but don't want to spend loads.
• You like severely bucketed seat cushions.

You shouldn't buy the Secretlab Omega 2020 if:

• You want a cheap gaming chair.
• You are on the taller or larger side.

Secretlab Omega 2020: The bottom line

As if we didn’t love Secretlab enough already, the Omega 2020 simply makes them glow a little more in our eyes. It’s super well built, comfortable, and stylish (particularly if you’re into Kpop bands based on League of Legends characters). It is slightly more expensive than some, but its the perfect way to join the Secretlab fold.

Sure, you can spend a little less and get something like the Boulies Master Series or one of the Anda Seat family, but the extra cushions and improved build are well worth the extra. Just remember that it might not be quite as good for you if you’re tall or slightly wider - something like the Titan 2020 or the Titan 2022 may be more your style.

I've been reviewing gaming chairs for the last three years and have assembled and tested dozens of seats in that time. There are three major things I look for whenever I test a chair: How good the lumbar support is, how comfortable the chair is to sit in, and how durable the chair is. In my experience, many gaming chairs tend to hit two of these three things, while the truly exceptional gaming chairs manage to accomplish all three successfully. 

Over the last two weeks, I've been testing the Boulies Master Series gaming chair. Boulies offers it in either Ultraflex PU leather (faux leather) or a soft water-resistant fabric. I chose to review the blue PU leather version as I find this material easier to clean if something accidentally spills. Regardless of your choice, both material versions of the chair come in some beautiful colors. 

While the Boulies Master Series gaming chair offers excellent adjustable back support and looks great, there are a few things that aren't as good as I'd like.

Boulies Master Series Gaming Chair: Price and availability

The Boulies Master Series gaming chair has an MSRP of $389.99; however, at the time of writing Boulies is offering a deal at just $359.99 for this chair. It is available in either Ultraflex PU leather or a soft, water-repellent fabric. A few different colors are available for either fabric option. Unfortunately, this chair is unavailable at major US retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, or Walmart and thus must be purchased from Boulies website.

While not the cheapest gaming chair on the market, it's also not the most expensive one either. For what it offers, it is very well-priced. Remember that you get what you pay for, and often the more you spend on a gaming chair, the more conveniences and comforts it offers.  

Boulies Master Series Gaming Chair: What's good

The best gaming chairs on the market offer quality materials that will last a long time, provide excellent back support and are also comfortable to sit in. Boulies does a great job at meeting most of these aspects. It's also relatively easy to put together, which is helpful. However, the box it arrives in is rather heavy, so you might need help getting it into your home when it gets delivered.

A set of tools come in the box to help make assembly easy. The included instructions also have pictures to make it easier to know what to do, but they could have been written a little more clearly. I was able to get the gaming chair assembled within an hour, but some parts of it would have gone faster if I'd had someone helping me since it was hard to hold certain bits in their proper location and screw them in at the same time without them falling out of place. 

It became very apparent while I was pulling the various parts of the Boulies Master Series gaming chair out of the box that this chair is made with some high-quality materials. It features a five-star aluminum base, but the chair has a steel frame and is covered with some of the softest PU leather I've ever felt. Altogether, the chair feels sturdy, like the material, and will last for a long time.

The chair reclines back very far, to the point that you'll want to have the tilt mechanism locked in place, or else you might tip backward like I almost did when I first put it all the way back. Just note that the PU leather that covers this chair squeaks pretty badly whenever I recline as the seat cushion and backing rub together. But lying down in it is rather relaxing. 

The 4D adjustable armrests slide forward, backward, side-to-side, and up and down. The tops of the armrests are also made of soft depressable rubber, which feels great on my elbows. It's straightforward to get these armrests into the perfect position, whether I'm sitting up straight or reclining.

A dial on the chair's right side increases or decreases the pressure the internal lumbar support offers. This works amazingly and does away with the awkward back pillow so typical in many gaming chairs that usually does nothing but makes you sit too far in your seat. I quickly found a pressure level that made me sit straighter while also feeling relatively comfortable on my back. Of course, if you'd rather not have any lumbar support, the dial can pull the internal mechanism far enough that you won't feel it. 

Similarly, I was happy that the neck pillow sits at a perfect level for me and is very soft to the touch. It's very smooth to lean back on and is reasonably close to working well with the lumbar pressure I use. Of course, if you don't like the pillow, you can easily remove it by slipping the elastic off the top of the chair.

Boulies Master Series Gaming Chair: What's bad

For some context, I am five-foot-six inches tall and weigh 180 pounds. This chair is narrower and shorter than many other gaming chairs I've tested, which makes it an excellent compact choice for people with limited space. I was surprised that I fit easily enough into the narrower seat and back cushion, but I couldn't sit as quickly with one leg tucked under my other leg and resting on the shorter seat, as is my habit. It has a maximum weight limit of up to 300 pounds, which is more than many others on the market and can help it work for more people. However, it's not an excellent choice for taller people.

My husband is six-foot-five-inches tall and so I asked him to sit in this chair to see how well it would work for taller folks. The backing was rather short for his long frame and he felt that the seat cushion wasn't long enough to comfortably support his legs as well. Additionally, he had to remove the neck pillow as it pressed uncomfortably into his shoulder blades. So, if you're a taller individual, this chair probably won't work for you.

On another note, I previously mentioned that I was initially blown away by how soft the PU leather material covering it felt. However, I was disappointed to find that despite the soft feel on my fingers that the chair cushion is rather stiff to sit on. I'd like it better if the seat cushion in particular wasn't so hard as this makes it somewhat uncomfortable to sit in for long stretches and partially negates the relaxing feel of the adjustable lumbar. Other chairs I've tested have been able to accomplish straight sitting while feeling comfier.

Boulies Master Series Gaming Chair: Competition

My favorite gaming chair is the AndaSeat Kaiser 3 XL, which I've reviewed. It's more expensive than the Boulies Master Series, but it offers a more comfortable sitting experience. The chair is taller and wider to accommodate average to more prominent persons better. Additionally, in addition to being able to adjust the internal lumbar pressure, this chair's lumbar support can be adjusted vertically. You can raise and lower the lumbar area to fit your body better. 

If you want something a bit easier on the wallet, the AndaSeat Phantom 3 has an MSRP of $350 and is very comfortable to sit in. It can only handle up to 220 pounds, but it's sturdy and will look great in any home or office. 

Boulies Master Series Gaming Chair: Should you buy it?

You should buy this if...

• You want a chair with adjustable lumbar support.
• You'd like to choose between faux leather or fabric material
• You want a sturdy gaming chair 

You should not buy this if...

• If you are taller than average. 
• You want a chair with a softer seat cushion.
• You're looking for a budget gaming chair. 

Boulies Master Series gaming chair is an excellent choice for most folks. The adjustable internal lumbar support helps you get the correct pressure for your needs. Being able to recline back and adjust the 4D armrests also makes it easier to find a position you like best. However, this chair isn't perfect. 

The seat cushion, while not horrible, isn't as soft as others. As a result, it might feel too stiff for folks sitting in it for long stretches. Additionally, this is a shorter and slightly narrower chair than others I've tested. While that makes it fit into more compact places better, it won't accommodate taller folks as well, even though it has a high weight limit of 300 pounds. Still, it's a great chair overall and will look excellent in any home or office.

I've been reviewing gaming chairs for years and have used dozens of them in that time. Many people think that gaming chairs aren't nearly as comfortable or as good for your back as office chairs are, but that really only refers to lesser-quality options that sell for cheap and by extension are made cheaply. Considering that I spend a significant portion of every day sitting at my office desk, it's important for me to have a comfortable chair that helps me sit with good posture. There are dozens of office and gaming chairs on the market, but some are significantly better than others. Since I've put together dozens of gaming chairs over the years, it's easier for me to determine when a chair is worthy of purchase. 

Over the last two weeks, I've been testing the E-Win Calling Series Gaming Chair by using it during my eight-hour shifts at my computer as well as during gaming sessions. While it does have some flaws, it's a very sturdy chair overall that can work with a large number of people.

E-Win Calling Series Gaming Chair: What's good

As with most gaming chairs, this one comes with separate parts that you must assemble yourself. The instructions that came in the box weren't in English nor did they have the most helpful illustrations. If I hadn't already put together dozens of gaming chairs over the years this probably would have confused me. 

That being said, if you've never put a gaming chair together before, this assembly process will likely be frustrating for you. As it was, the familiar process was relatively straightforward and only took me about an hour. 

PU leather enfolds the metal frame and foam for a chair that is soft to the touch and comfortable to sit in. Some cheaper office chairs will use lower-quality materials that will peel off over time, but this felt like it will hold. I'm currently fostering two kittens and have two grown cats of my own. Despite the numerous times this feline quartet climbed around the chair, no significant claw marks were left behind. 

This material is also very easy to clean, so if you happen to spill food on it, it won't sink into the material like other fabrics. It's been very hot over the last two weeks, so I did find my skin sticking to the chair a bit, but that's the tradeoff when it comes to PU leather versus fabric.  

The chair is made sturdy thanks to a metal frame and an aluminum star base. It feels stable and solidly built. E-Win's website claims that this chair can hold up to 400 pounds, but the Amazon listing says 330 pounds. I'm more inclined to believe the manufacturer's website, but regardless, both capacities are high and will serve the vast majority of people.

The one problem I foresee for larger folks is the wing-style cushion. I'm five-foot-six inches tall and 200 pounds. As it is, I hardly feel the rising sides when seated at my computer, however, people with larger thighs might feel pressure pushing in on them. But that's always the case with the wing-style racing cushion.

A lever under the chair allows me to raise or lower the overall height. I was surprised by how tall it could go, forcing me to strain my feet to reach the floor when fully extended. In that way, it's also a good fit for taller people. For my personal purposes, I was fine to keep it at its lowest level while at my office desk.

With the help of the right-side lever, I can also recline the chair as far back as 155 degrees. It's not actually parallel to the floor this way, but it feels like it to me. Shortly after assembling the E-Win, I sat down, reclined, and nearly fell asleep. It felt that comfortable for me.

The armrests have three buttons on them. One near the front shifts them forward and backward. A second one just under the resting area slides them sideways. Finally, a third one on the base raises and lowers them. This being the case, no matter what reclining angle I put the chair at, I always found a comfortable position for my arms to lay in. 

E-Win Calling Series Gaming Chair: What's not good

It's a truth universally acknowledged that lumbar and neck pillows on gaming chairs usually aren't the most comfortable thing. This is especially true of less expensive seats but was also the case with the E-Win gaming chair. 

I removed the lumbar pillow soon after I first sat in the seat as it protruded awkwardly into my back and didn't feel comfortable at all. It actually made me sit far too forward in the seat at an odd angle. The base seat doesn't provide lumbar support without it, but I felt like my back was supported well without the lumbar pillow in place. But that might not be the case for everyone. 

When I first removed the neck pillow from the packaging, I had high hopes for it. It's very soft to the touch and the dual texture looks very sleek. However, when attached through the holes in the headrest, the pillow sags in such a way that I don't even touch it when leaning back, making it useless. Unfortunately, I found there is no way to adjust the length of the neck pillow straps, so I couldn't tighten it to a better position.

Sometimes when a gaming chair has an uncomfortable neck pillow, I click the straps into place around the headrest above the holes rather than through them. However, these straps were not long enough to do that. So basically, even with the neck pillow in place, it was like it wasn't even there unless I reclined back almost parallel with the floor.

It's possible this was just a flaw of the neck pillow I received, but it's equally possible that they are all like this. I'm five-foot-six inches tall, so if you're shorter than me and the pillows are all like this, then the pillow might work for you, but if you're my size or taller, there will likely be an issue.

Thanks to the high-quality faux-leather materials used and the strong aluminum build, I am confident that this office chair will last for a very long time. The two-texture design is also very chic and gives the chair a classy look. The PU leather is soft to the touch and very easy to clean in case of food spills. Some areas had gotten creased in transit, but this didn't negatively impact the overall feel. More importantly, this PU leather material won't easily crack or rip as some inexpensive chairs do. 

After six months using the TITAN Evo, I can happily report that this is the finest gaming chair I have ever had the pleasure of using, and would recommend this to absolutely anyone as a strong investment in their gaming setup. As a long-time user of the 2020 Omega chair, I was thrilled to find out that Secretlab had combined it with its Titan chair to create the 2022 TITAN Evo. The new chair is truly the best of both worlds, and now boasts even more customization than before.

Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022: What I like

I'd had Secretlab's 2020 OMEGA chair for well over a year, and I'm happy to report that a lot has changed for the better. The 2022 Series Secretlab has combined its OMEGA and TITAN chairs into one model. It's slightly wider and larger than the previous model, making for a more comfortable and spacious experience. The new TITAN Evo comes with a 4-way adjustable lumbar support built into the chair itself and can be adjusted for height and depth for maximum comfort.

The armrests are swappable thanks to CloudSwap technology, and Secretlab was kind enough to let me try some very cool Technogel Armrests. They just pop into place with magnets and be changed in an instant. I've also been using Secretlab's newer Plushcell Memory Foam Armrests. Both of these add-ons are a paid upgrade to the chair, but both are decidedly more comfortable than the stock armrests that come with the chair as standard. Having used both, I'd have to recommend the Memory Foam in terms of comfort and feel. The Technogel armrests have a sleeker design and really help to keep you cool when you're gaming at a high intensity, however I found that after a while the PU coating does start to wrinkle a little bit.

Magnets are also deployed in the headrest, truthfully one of my favorite upgrades. The headrest is no longer attached by elastic but held by a very sturdy magnet in whatever position you need. The headrest also has a lower profile than the previous one, which is again more comfortable.

Plenty of what I loved about the old chair remains. The build quality of Secretlab's remains unrivaled when it comes to gaming office accessories. The combination of aluminum, premium plastics, and, in my case, SoftWeave fabric makes this chair a true one-of-a-kind experience. I also found this model a little easier to put together than my last one, although that might just be down to experience.

The TITAN also has a vast array of configurations, so you can sit in any position. The back will lie almost flat with 165 degrees of incline, and you can also lean back the entire chair for more laid-back gaming sessions. The levers that control these feel much sturdier and more effective than in the old model, and Secretlab has also shortened the hydraulics, so the smaller versions of its chair suit more people.

The only thing I can say about the TITAN Evo is that it is the nicest and most comfortable chair I've ever sat in. The materials are all of stunning quality, and I've experienced almost no fatigue despite the fact I spent a lot of time sitting down. Thanks to the headrest, adjustable armrest, adjustable backrest, and very comfortable foam, this chair is really just a dream when it comes to premium comfort. The website even has a sizing guide to make sure you pick the perfect-sized chair for your height and weight.

The TITAN Evo is also really customizable; it comes in three sizes and three types of upholstery. The NEO Hybrid Leatherette from my old chair is very comfortable, and the SoftWeave in my new one was a pleasant surprise in terms of quality feel and comfort. I've also noticed that overheating while sitting is much less of a problem with the more breathable technology. Secretlab also has a very premium NAPA Leather, although this is much more expensive than the regular models. There are eight different SoftWeave colors, including the pictured Cookies and Cream. There's a staggering 34 leather variants, including special editions for multiple Esports teams, games like Cyberpunk 2077, and even Game of Thrones.

Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022: What I don't like

In truth, I don't really have anything bad to say about the TITAN Evo. My only minor gripe is that I really liked the lumbar pillow that came with the old chair, and the new lumbar support that's built-in was a bit of an adjustment. The 2022 version has a Lumbar Pillow Pro that you can tack on, but it costs $79. The new pillow is designed to complement the built-in lumbar support, so it has a much lower profile. Having used this for a good while, I can confirm that the Lumbar pillow is very comfortable, and looks and feels tremendous, but it's also expensive.

Like all hefty gaming chairs, the TITAN Evo is a bit of a hassle to put together. It requires two people, but the chair has all the prerequisite tools you need to get the job done. Even Secretlab's included toolkit and custom screwdriver deserve credit; that thing is awesome, and the reward for your hard work is a very solid gaming chair.

The main drawback to all of this luxury is the price. Secretlab's chair will run you north of $499 in the U.S. and £399 in the UK. The CloudSwap Technogel armrests alone are an extra $69/£55. The premium NAPA leather version I alluded to earlier costs $949. The Secretlab TITAN Evo is very expensive and will definitely give users pause for thought before buying. I can happily report that the TITAN Evo is hands-down the best gaming chair you're ever going to buy and will likely last you a decade or longer.

There are some cool upgrades if you own a 2020 version, but I honestly can't see too many people making the jump purely based on the price. I think the whole package justifies the price, given the premium and how long you'll be using this chair. But I'd love to see Secretlab just be a tad more generous with the pricing, especially with some bundled accessories, even if it's just the cleaning spray or some wipes!

There are admittedly hundreds of office chairs out there to choose from, but I'm very partial to Anda Seat's offerings since they are very comfortable and reliable, not to mention classy looking.

Though on the pricey side, it helps me to sit up straight while still being comfortable and offers some really awesome conveniences. Last I checked it was on sale for $450. It comes covered in either PVC leather or linen fabric and there are nine colors, but those options differ depending on which material you choose. It's on the pricier side of gaming chairs, but it also offers some features you won't see in more economical choices.

It comes unassembled, but the box includes all of the tools you need along with an illustrated instruction booklet to help you get everything together in no time.

Anda Seat Kaiser 3 XL gaming chair: What's good

When I first removed the Kaiser 3 XL from the packaging, I was surprised to find that there was no included back pillow. But then I learned that the back cushion has adjustable lumbar support built right into it. By turning the nobs on either side, I can adjust the height and firmness of the lumbar support to better fit my body shape. This allows the back support to meld into the chair in a subtle manner that really felt comfortable while making me sit up straighter rather than being a lumpy pillow that doesn't do much.

A fun little thing that also makes the chair look cleaner is the magnetic pillow. Instead of requiring you to thread elastic straps through the holes, it just holds itself in place and has never once tried to fall off while I've used it. Plus, it's one of the most comfortable pillows I've ever used, filled with comfort foam and covered in some kind of incredibly soft microfiber material. It's honestly one of the only neck pillows I've willingly kept in place on a gaming chair.

There are two levers underneath the chair: one for locking or unlocking the tilt function and the other for adjusting the chair's height up and down. In my experience, the chair gets plenty tall to fit with a standard desk or table. I can also adjust the armrests using one of the three buttons on either side to make them slide forward or backward, up or down, side to side, or in and out. With all these adjustment options, it's easy to get the armrests in a position that works best for me and my desk. I also had my husband, who is 6 feet 5 inches tall, try out the chair. He informed me this was one of the only chairs he's tried that has high enough armrests so he doesn't have to slump to either side in order to rest his arms comfortably.

I also appreciate the soft jelly tops on the armrests that feel comfortable on my elbows and forearms. The only thing to be aware of is that the jelly top part of the armrests is held in place by magnets and can easily be removed if enough force is used to pull up on them. However, you likely won't be trying to pull up on them in such a way that they can pop off.

The five-star wheelbase is made of metal and the chair itself feels incredibly sturdy. Using the included lever, I can recline the chair back and lay almost parallel to the floor around me. However, if I do recline all of the way, I must make sure to lock the tilt mechanism in place first to prevent my center of balance from toppling the chair.

Anda Seat Kaiser 3 XL gaming chair: What's not good

Considering that this is supposed to be the XL gaming chair, I was a bit disappointed by how short the seat cushion is. I had my husband sit in it and he felt like there wasn't quite enough room before the cushion stopped and his long legs were no longer supported. However, he did appreciate that this had a more traditional seat cushion design instead of the race car bucket seat that digs uncomfortably into his thighs and is often found in other Anda Seat gaming chairs.

The only other significant thing to note is the high cost, but that was probably the first thing you noticed. Anda Seat once made seats for Mercedes and BMW vehicles and the high-quality craftmanship is still found within the company's gaming chairs. Whether or not you feel like it's worth it to purchase a premium gaming chair when there are so many less expensive options out there really depends on your personal preference. But I will say that you will not regret the Kaiser 3 if you choose to go with it. The PVC leather is soft to the touch, the lumbar support feels great, and it looks good too.

Honestly, one of the Kaiser 3XL's biggest competitors is its sibling, the Anda Seat Fnatic Gaming Chair, which I've also previously reviewed. It does have that bucket seat design I warned about previously, however, it stands taller and offers a longer cushion that might accommodate taller folks better. Plus, it has a weight capacity of up to 441 pounds.

Now if you're looking for something that won't put quite a dent in your wallet, you should consider the Anda Seat Phantom 3. Another favorite of mine that I've personally tested, it costs roughly $150 less than the Kaiser 3 but it's very comfortable and comes with removable neck and back pillows. But note that it cannot handle more than 220 pounds.

Just be aware that if you're on the taller side, you might find the seat cushion a little short, but at least it doesn't have that bucket seat design that digs into your thighs. Additionally, you'll want to make sure that the weight capacity works for you. Other than that, this chair was crafted to impress!

As with most gaming chairs, the Anda Seat Phantom 3 weighs a considerably amount and comes in a large box, so I needed help bringing it into my house. Assembly went very smoothly and only took about 30 to 45 minutes. All of the tools I needed to put the chair together were included in the box, along with a very handy illustrated manual that made everything clear. Additionally, this was the first Anda Seat chair I've ever put together that already had the armrests in place, which made setup go faster.

Once assembled, it can recline back very far to the point that I believe I could comfortably take a nap if I wanted to. The armrests adjust up and down and the chair also extends upward or goes downward with the use of the lever located under the cushion. That way, you can get the chair in just the right position to serve your needs.

According to a Healthline article from 2019, the average American man that is 20 years old and up weighs 197.9 pounds with the average height being 5 feet 9 inches tall. That being the case, this chair is on the verge for many adult men and would likely be better suited to women and teens. I myself am five-foot-six-inches tall and find this chair to be just perfect for me. However, me husband who is six foot five inches doesn't fit so comfortably.

The Phantom 3 has a few slight differences from other Anda Seat gaming chairs, but these work together to make a very comfortable seat indeed. For one thing, the head pillow is incredibly soft and gives way to pressure, so I don't mind it being attached to the chair. I tend to be a wrestless sitter, so it's important for me that I can stretch and adjust my legs. The Phantom 3's seat cushion is more flat than other Anda Seat chairs so I'm not as limited with where my legs can go.

Many gaming chairs have some kind of side casing that cover unseemly but necessary screws to keep the chair looking nicer. Instead of requiring you to screw anything, the Phantom 3 has side casings with magnets on them that hold onto the screws on either side of the chair. I'm a little torn about how I feel about this. Assembly-wise, this made the process go a lot faster since I just had to slip them in place. However, I've already had a time or two where I attempted to move the chair to a new location and had the casing pop off in my hand. That being said, if you don't really touch these plastic coverings, you won't have a problem with them.

On another note, the back pillow that comes with the Phantom 3 wasn't my favorite. I was hoping it would be more in line with the Anda Seat Fnatic's back pillow which feels perfectly molded to my body. However, the Phantom 3's back pillow protrudes a little too much into my back, so I don't like using it. Fortunately, both the neck and back pillows can be removed quite easily and the chair feels comfortable without them there.

The Jungle 2 arrives in a large box that weighs a considerable amount. Because of this, I needed help lifting it and carrying it into my home. As with all of the best gaming chairs, all of the tools and screws I needed come included. Assembling this chair took me about an hour and 15 minutes, although I was constantly getting interrupted by my curious cats and dog, so it could take less if you're not distracted.

The PVC leather that covers most of the chair is easy to clean. I'm sure that if I spilled any food or drink on it I'd be able to wipe it up in no time. There are also velvet strips running along in areas where my legs or arms are likely to touch the chair. This makes it feel very soft and comfortable to rub against without agitating my skin.

I've reviewed several Anda Seat gaming chairs now, and I am always impressed by the quality of the materials, the sturdiness of the frames, and the comfortable fit. However, this chair feels much smaller than many of the others I've used with the back feeling especially narrow (more on that to come). However, this was the very first Anda Seat chair I've reviewed that comes with a footrest and I have very mixed feelings about it.

Lying back with feet extended does feel nice, but I worry that I'm putting too much pressure on the end of the footrest and might damage the metal rails leading into the chair over time. Anyone with long legs will feel this even more as this puts even more strain on the floating footrest.

To give some context, I'm an average height at 5-foot-6-inches tall and I weigh around 200 lbs. That being the case, the Jungle 2 is a bit small for me. The space on the back cushion where my back is supposed to line up is very narrow and as such, I feel the protruding bumps on either side of the chair go into my back when I'm sitting. As you can imagine, this chair proved even more uncomfortable for my 6-foot-5-inch tall husband who didn't want to sit in it very long. As such, this chair is better suited for smaller people.

Now, if you were interested in getting an Anda Seat gaming chair, there are plenty of larger options out there that I highly recommend.

I love the idea of the footrest, however, I'm not convinced that it will be able to consistently uphold my legs. If you are a person with longer legs, this strain will be even more apparent. Thankfully, you can just remove it if it's not of interest to you.

You can expect to be able to use the Vertagear SL5000 Gaming Chair for many years without deformities since the chair's Ultra Premium High Resilience Foam filling is quite firm. The steel frame comes with a 10-year warranty. This chair has the car-like bucket seat and winged back that you expect from a gaming chair. The coasters are coated with polyurethane (PU) for easy gliding on any hard surface. An industrial-grade gas lift allows you to adjust the chair for height. At 5'4", I've had office chairs that would not adjust low enough for my feet to sit flat on the ground. This isn't an issue with the Vertagear SL5000 Gaming Chair — in fact, it can go lower than I need. The maximum recommended height is 6'4" and the maximum weight is 260 pounds.

You can recline the backrest from 80° to 140°. You can adjust the tilt tension as well. Two removable cushions are included: lumbar support and neck support. Both are firm and adjustable so you can place them precisely where you need them. The armrests adjust in four directions to accommodate just about anyone's size and preference: they go in and out closer or farther from the body, forward away from the backrest and back towards it, up and down, and they twist out from side to side like pinball flippers. The synthetic leather covering this chair is both soft and durable. It comes in a half-dozen different color combinations to suit just about any taste or decor.

Vertagear SL5000 Gaming Chair: What's not good

Truthfully, I'm more of an office chair person, as I prefer a softer seat. While the Vertagear SL5000 Gaming Chair is a comfortable gaming chair, it doesn't feel quite as comfortable to me as a good office chair. That's really down to personal taste, though.

While the chair was easy to assemble, I did have one screw that would just not go in all the way. Perhaps someone stronger could force it in, or perhaps I erred along the way. But I've assembled a number of chairs on my own and never had this issue. This certainly isn't an inexpensive chair.

Vertagear SL5000 Gaming Chair: Competition

What kind of chair you choose to sit in for long periods of time is going to be a matter of taste. While the gamer-style chair isn't going to be my first choice for work (I'm not a gamer), many iMore writers do choose a gaming chair in lieu of an office chair for both work and play. The Vertagear SL5000 Gaming Chair is a high-quality gaming chair that firmly supportive and offers a host of options for customizability such as a deep recline, height and tilt adjustment, removable neck and back cushions, and four-way adjustable arm rests. AndaSeat T-Compact Gaming Chair: What's good

The box the T-Compact comes in is rather heavy so, I needed help getting it into my home. While I was able to assemble this chair on my own within an hour, that time frame might fluctuate depending on how easily you can find the threads for some of the screws to fit into. The included manual helped step me through the process with plenty of informative pictures. Additionally, the box comes with a set of screws and an Allen Wrench, so I didn't need to pull out any of my own tools.

Something I always look for when testing AndaSeat chairs, or any gaming chairs with that bucket seat racecar design, are raised sides on the seat cushion. These raised sides tend to push larger persons' thighs together in an uncomfortable manner, something that my six-foot-five-inch husband has lamented over repeatedly. However, the T-Compact does not have that cushion design, so it's more comfortable for anyone that this might affect. The tradeoff is that this chair cannot hold as much weight as some other AndaSeat chairs out there, but a max weight capacity of 286 pounds when moving around fits the needs of the average person.

Many gaming chairs come wrapped in some kind of faux leather, but this one has soft fabric that doesn't stick to my skin in the summer heat, which means it also won't freeze my flesh in the cold months. The black strips are particularly soft and feel really food against my legs. You'll just have to be careful as spilling liquids on this material can cause stains more easily. This particular chair comes in grey, black, or blue so you can choose the look you like best.

As with every AndaSeat chair, this one offers excellent back support. The back pillow attaches through the holes of the chair and can slide up and down to whatever spot you like for better posture. I personally didn't like the feel of the back pillow, so I removed it but kept the neck pillow in place. It still braced my spine in a wonderful fashion and helped me sit straighter that way. The armrests adjust forward, backward, left, right, and even pivot to the sides. That way you can be sure to find the position that you like most.

I will warn that the first time I started using a gaming chair with good back support it made my back sore until I adjusted. But now I have much better posture than I did before. Just goes to show you how badly I hunched before.

AndaSeat T-Compact Gaming Chair: What's not good

I'm kind of an antsy person and so I often rock my feet on the ground or tip my chair back a little whenever I'm at my desk for long stretches. I noticed that the T-Compact doesn't tip back nearly as easily as other gaming chairs I've tested. This is definitely a minor thing, but something that bothered me nonetheless.

As with many gaming chairs, the T-Compact is a bit on the expensive side. Granted, AndaSeat produces really high-quality products with plenty of conveniences, so I think this price isn't too out there. However, if you're not too keen on spending this much, you might want to wait for one of these chairs to go on sale or look for a competitor's listing.

AndaSeat T-Compact Gaming Chair: Competition

If you like the look of the T-Compact, but want something with more comfort then you ought to check out the AndaSeat T-Pro 2. It also comes wrapped in linen fabric so as not to stick to you on hot days but has a much better lumbar pillow, a much higher weight capacity at 441 pounds, and is easier to recline in.

For anyone who likes a flashier look, the Vertagear PL6000 features racing stripes and comes in a number of different color options. It also offers good back support and features removable pillows.

If you're looking for something that still offers great back support without looking too flashy, the Nexvoo Health Ergonomic Adjustable Desk Chair is a good bet. Plus, it offers health monitoring with the help of its trusty app.

AndaSeat T-Compact Gaming Chair: Should you buy it?

Vertagear PL6000 Gaming Chair review What I like

The PL6000 is a snap to assemble, taking no longer than 20 minutes to put everything together. A large allen wrench is included in the box to help twist the screws in place and get everything set up. Additionally, while the instructions weren't written in English, I was easily able to follow the images to get everything set up quickly.

I especially like that the instructions call to bolt the back of the chair to the cushion in such a way that it hides any ugly metal connections sticking out from the bottom. Many other gaming chairs have the metal on the outside and then have you hide it with an extra piece of plastic, which just makes the chairs look bulky.

The PL6000 is covered in PUC, a mixture of PVC and PU faux-leather. It feels soft-yet-durable and is easy to clean if you accidentally spill something while at your desk. The five star wheel base is made of aluminum alloy with a steel frame that can hold a decent amount of weight and feel sturdy.

The PL6000 has a slightly flashy look to it that comes in seven different racing stripe colors including white, green camo, black, blue, green, orange, and red. I love the bold racing strips and red stitching on the PL6000. It's very nice to look at. Even the wheels match the colors of the main body which works together to create a very pleasant design overall.

The PL6000 is intended for big and tall folks with a weight capacity of up to 350 pounds. Vertagear also says it's recommended for people between 5-feet-9-inches and 6-feet-8-inches tall. While testing it, I definitely noticed that it is larger than many other gaming chairs I've sat in.

I'm 5-foot-6-inches tall and when the PL6000's cylinder is fully extended I can't touch my feet on the ground while sitting in the chair. Even my 6-foot-5-inch husband says it goes higher up than any other seat he's ever sat in and still feels plenty sturdy.

The headrest pillow does dig into his back and makes him hunch, so he prefers not to use it. However the chair is plenty comfortable without it. I find the headrest pillow is in a perfect position for me to use, so I like to keep it on while sitting in the PL6000. The pillow suspenders allow you to adjust the back pillow to different heights along the back of the chair, although it also digs into my back at an awkward angle (as many round lumbar pillows do), so I prefer not to use it.

Vertagear PL6000 Gaming Chair review What I don't like

The biggest complaint I have is with the PL6000. The way the lower back pillow attaches to the chair looks really janky. Kind of like someone attaching a fannypack using suspenders. Since there aren't any holes in the chair's backside, you have to slip the straps under the headrest pillow to keep the lumbar pillow in place. It's strange that such a costly chair would force you to keep one pillow attached by using another. It makes the chair look a little cheap in comparison with other chairs in the same price range.

Additionally, this chair feel rather stiff compared to some of the other gaming chairs I've tested within the same price range. The PUC material definitely feels nice, but there isn't a lot of cushioning on either one of them. If you're looking for a softer chair to sit in, this won't meet your needs.

Lastly, the armrests for both chairs look lower quality than the rest of the chair, but that's unfortunately common in the best gaming chairs. The PL6000's can adjust up and down or slide forward and back so you can get them in the specific position that works best for you.

Vertagear PL6000 Gaming Chair review Competition

If you like the idea of a gaming chair but aren't sure about going with Vertagear, then you ought to consider these other options.

The Anda Seat Fnatic gaming chair will last you a long time and is made of some of the best materials. It has a flashy design and can hold up to 441 pounds. Not to mention, the company used to design BMW and Mercedes car seats, so it knows what it's doing. It's what I consider to be one of the best gaming chairs out there.

Anybody who's a Marvel or Avengers enthusiast will definitely want to take a look at the Anda Seat Marvel Series gaming chairs. There are four different designs including Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, and Ant-Man. Each one offers great lumbar support, a solid build, and they're covered in soft leather.

AndaSeat Luxurious Footrest: What I love

There's a lot to love about the AndaSeat Luxurious Footrest. As I've already said, I was really impressed by the AndaSeat Dark Demon's build quality, rugged design, and easy assembly. All of which carries over to the footrest. It comes in just three main parts, and there are only four screws you need to apply to get it set up. Screw the frame to the underside of the footrest itself and then insert it into the wheelbase. Pop in the wheels, and you're done. It's really that simple. Putting together an AndaSeat gaming chair is much easier than other chairs I've used, and the Luxurious Footrest is even easier — big points here for ease of assembly.

When it comes to design and build quality, there's more to like. The Luxurious Footrest is made of sturdy yet comfortable PVC leather and comes with a cool stitched patterned design reminiscent of a racing car seat. The AD+ Mould Foam provides excellent comfort and support for your feet and legs whilst you're reclining, and the aluminum base feels indestructible. This would be a great choice for a household with pets or young children, as I'm certain the Luxurious Footrest could take a bit of a beating if it were asked to.

Beyond design and quality, my favorite aspect of the Footrest is just how useful it is. I play both PC and Xbox games and often find myself waving my legs around underneath my desk, trying to get comfortable whilst I play, propping them up on my subwoofer, sharp wood, or worse, my power cords.

When I first heard about the Luxurious Footrest, I thought it was a bit of a gimmick, but I've been blown away by how much I've used it and how much it has transformed my gaming experience. I've even started playing more Xbox titles just so that I have an excuse to use it. Being comfortable whilst having good posture and support is really important when it comes to gaming, and I've found AndaSeat's footrest has really improved how I feel when I play. By easing lower back tension and helping me relax more, I feel more comfortable than ever before. I can't stress enough how much better gaming in a reclined position is proper support like AndaSeat's footrest provides.

AndaSeat Luxurious Footrest: Room for improvement

Like basically all products, there is room for improvement for the AndaSeat Luxurious Footrest. The footrest is height adjustable thanks to a standard lever underneath the main body; however, I have only really used it at its highest setting. To that end, I would have preferred if there was a little more headroom so it could be set higher.

I really like the Footrest's patterned design, but right now, it's only available in one color. I'm not sure what AndaSeat's plans are, but its various ranges of chairs come in lots of different colorways, so I'm hopeful. I would love to see a few more color options, as the red and black option won't be the first choice for everyone.

The footrest is very easy to move around your setup thanks to its wheels, but these wheels can't be locked, which some users might look for as a feature to secure their footrest whilst they're gaming. Certainly, this is a tradeoff. A more expensive competitor like the Real Leather Footrest from Noble chairs won't move because it doesn't have any wheels, but as a result, it is less easy to move around. A footrest of the future from AndaSeat might well benefit from a tool to lock one or all of its wheels to secure it in place, especially on hard floors with less resistance.

AndaSeat Luxurious Footrest: Competition

Quite a niché product, there's not much to be found in the way of competition for the AnsdaSeat Luxurious Footrest. One alternative I did find comes from Noble chairs, the aforementioned Real Leather Footrest, which costs more than $230 and is advertised as a premium footrest with stitched leather upholstery. As noted, this doesn't come with wheels and is a lot more expensive.

The other option, of course, is to buy a chair with a built-in footrest, one example being the Respawn 11- Racing Style Gaming Chair, another of our picks for best gaming chair, which features an extendable footrest. Certainly, I would prefer the flexibility of a separate footrest, but this latter option requires less office real estate and is cheaper than a lot of other gaming chairs out there.

Anda Seat T-Pro 2 review: What I like

The chair arrives unassembled with 11 separate parts, but the helpful instructions and the included Allen wrench make setup a breeze. It didn't take me more than 30 minutes to put together.

The T-Pro 2 is incredibly sturdy with its steel frame, aluminum wheelbase, and dense foam padding. It's covered in a soft fabric, unlike the usual PVC leather that many other Anda Seat models have. This material looks gorgeous and comes in three colors: blue, grey, and black, with soft black trim going down the sides.

I really like this fabric because, unlike PVC leather gaming chairs, it doesn't feel extremely cold to the touch during the winter months, nor does it feel sticky and sweaty during high-temperature days. The tradeoff is that the fabric is more likely to stain with dropped food or sweat than PVC leather chairs are.

I love the overall look of the chair, including the fine stitched logos and color scheme. While the design is sporty, it looks elegant rather than racecar flashy like many other gaming chairs out there. It could even fit in at a formal office and not seem out of place.

The biggest reason to get a gaming chair is so you can have better back support and comfy seating while sitting at a desk for long periods of time. The T-Pro 2 accomplishes this by supplying great back and neck support.

I absolutely love the back pillow in particular, as it actually fits the shape of my back and is designed in such a way that it slides to the perfect position whenever I adjust the seat angle. It's also soft and filled with memory foam to gently but firmly keep my spine in good posture. Both the back pillow and the neck pillow can be removed if they aren't to your liking.

I do think that the armrests look a little shabby compared to the rest of the chair. However, they're wonderful in terms of functionality. I can adjust them up and down, side to side, front and back, or even make them pivot towards me or away from me. With all of these options, anyone can find the position that feels most comfortable for them regardless of what angle they're sitting in.

Another awesome thing about Anda Seat's XL gaming chair is that it can recline 160 degrees. But it can go even further if I unlock the tilt mechanism and lay back. When seated like this, I'm basically parallel to the floor without feeling like I'm going to fall over. It's incredibly comfortable, and I'm sure I could take a nap like that.

Anda Seat T-Pro 2 review: What I don't like

This chair feels perfect for me, but that's a bad thing in some ways since I'm only five-foot-six-inches tall and not the intended audience.

As an XL gaming chair, the T-Pro 2 is meant for big and tall folks. Since my husband is six-foot-five-inches tall and weighs 260 pounds, I had him check it out to see if it was a good fit. He immediately noted that the seat cushion design was very uncomfortable, and if it weren't for that, this would be his ideal chair.

The cushion's sides jut up and dig into his thighs, which makes them feel sore if he sits in the chair for more than 30 minutes. These vertical cushions also push his legs together and don't allow him to adjust his body as easily while sitting, which can be really uncomfortable during long desk sessions.

This is obviously a bad design that nullifies the advantage of the 441-pound weight limit since there isn't ample room for a larger person to sit comfortably. If the chair had a flat seat cushion rather than a sporty bucket seat, it would be far more comfortable and accessible to the larger folks to whom it's marketed.

Anda Seat T-Pro 2 review: Competition

Anda Seat Dark Demon is another great chair with a more comfortable seat cushion than the T-Pro 2. It can hold up to 350 pounds and still has that sporty look to it.

The Vertagear PL-6000 can hold up to 350 pounds and offers a flatter seat cushion. The padding isn't as soft as Anda Seat foam, but it won't dig into your thighs.

Anda Seat T-Pro 2 review: Should you buy it?

This can be the perfect chair for some and a very uncomfortable chair for others. If you're an average size and are looking for something comfortable that will last you a long time, you should consider purchasing the T-Pro 2. The Kaiser 2 is really easy to assemble. An Allen Wrench is included in the box, so I didn't need to supply my own tools to put anything together. Plus, the instructions are easy to follow. I'm five-foot-six-inches tall and found the Kaiser 2 perfectly suited my size. I especially love the memory foam back pillow, which is shaped to fit my back and easily slides into the correct position whenever I adjust the chair's angle. Many other gaming chairs have round, lumpy back pillows that jut into my back instead of actually feeling good. I will say that transitioning to the Kaiser 2 made my back sore for about a week because it forced me to have better posture. Now that I've adjusted, my body is all the better for it. If you don't like the back and head pillows, you can remove them.

The Kaiser 2 has a steel frame and an aluminum base that can hold up to 441 pounds. My husband is 6-foot-five-inches and has such has a hard time finding gaming chairs that work for him. However, he felt fully supported while sitting in the Kaiser 2 and even stated that the back and headrest pillows could be adjusted to fit his tall frame.

This particular gaming chair can also tip back 160 degrees to be almost parallel with the floor without making me feel like it will fall over. PVC's soft feel and the memory foam pillows made it tempting to take a nap in it. I can also adjust the armrests up-down, left-right, front-back, and even pan them to the sides. Anda Seat Kaiser 2 gaming chair review: What I don't like

Considering that the Kaiser 2 is intended for the big and tall with its large weight capacity, it's strange that it has a bucket seat design. My tall husband found the slightly raised sides of the main cushion a little confining and even made his thighs sore when sitting for long stretches. Being much shorter than him, I didn't have this issue, but it's something big and tall folks should be aware of.

Otherwise, the only complaint I have is that the price for the Kaiser 2 is rather high. However, this is honestly one of the best gaming chair companies out there, being softer, higher quality, and comfier than many I've tested. As such, I still highly recommend it to anyone who thinks it will be a good fit.

Anda Seat Marvel Series Gaming Chair review: What I like

Like any other piece of furniture, the Anda Seat Marvel Series Gaming Chair comes in a large box, with every piece unassembled. You'll have to put it together yourself, but they provide detailed instructions that are actually easy to follow.

However, the chair itself is quite heavy (the product description says it's about 56 pounds), so it is best to have someone else around to help you. This is especially true when putting the seat cushion and backrest together, as the step requires twisting screws in — the two pieces may move around during the process, making it annoying to align the holes properly. But once you put the cushion and backrest together, the rest of the assembly was smooth sailing. Again, it is a heavy chair, so I would still recommend two people. I honestly don't think I would have been able to put this together in a timely manner without my husband's help. Once you put the chair together, getting the headrest and lumbar pillow are easy with the straps, and the armrests are already pre-installed.

After I assembled the chair, I was rather impressed with the overall quality. Just like the Anda Seat Dark Demon gaming chair, the Marvel Series Ant-Man chair is very tough and durable with the steel frame, so this is a great option for those who tend to be a little rougher with what they sit in all day. I've been using it for the past few weeks, and it does not feel like it's coming apart any time soon. I've also bumped it into my desk a few times while spinning, but there are no visible scuffs or scratches yet.

The premium PVC leather is also soft and nice to touch, and the AD molded foam is comfortable for me to sit on for at least eight hours every day. The back support pillow sits a few inches from the seat cushion, and I found that it really did help with my sitting posture all day, without causing any discomfort. I also enjoy the support from the neck pillow, though for me to rest on it all the time, I need to have the backrest leaning forward a tiny bit. That's due to my smaller desk setup (I also have an under-desk elliptical that I like to use while working, so I need to reach that with my feet), but it may not affect everyone, especially if you're taller — I'm only about 5'2.

I usually have my Anda Seat Marvel Series Gaming Chair locked around the 90-degree mark for working, but it can recline back a full 160-degrees if you so choose. The armrests are also adjustable, but the Ant-Man version that I have only allows you to adjust them up or down (2D). The other three versions are 4D, allowing you to go up or down, left or right, and even tilt them at an angle.

The base of the Anda Seat Marvel Series Gaming Chair, at least for the Ant-Man Edition, is a 5-star aluminum base, which helps improve stableness, balance, and durability. The PU covered wheels also roll incredibly smooth and quiet — a huge improvement over the old, basic office chair I was using prior.

Now, let's talk about how this chair looks. The Anda Seat Marvel Series Gaming Chair collection features four iconic Marvel heroes — Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Ant-Man. However, I opted for Ant-Man because of the more subtle color theme, which is black with red accents. An icon of Ant-Man's helmet is emblazoned on the neck pillow, the middle of the chair's backrest, as well as the back of the chair. The back support pillow also sports the Marvel logo, which fits in nicely. I chose the Ant-Man Edition because the other three characters would clash terribly with my current setup, which is not exactly an overall Marvel theme, so I figured Ant-Man's black and red would be a neutral option. However, if you have more of a Marvel theme going on with your workstation or gaming setup, then the other three characters may be a better option to consider.

One of the bonuses of the Anda Seat Marvel Series Gaming Chair is the included floor mat. Yes, every version in the collection includes a matching floor mat, which helps you get your Marvel theme going. The bottom of the floor mat has an anti-slip material, so it shouldn't move around too much. Since it has to be folded up to fit in the box with the chair, there will be creases — this will take time to flatten out fully.

With the Ant-Man Edition, it can hold up to 150 kilograms, or 330 pounds. The Iron Man version can withstand 170 kilograms or 375 pounds, and Captain American and Spider-Man Editions can go up to 200 kilograms or 440 pounds. If you are like me and on the smaller side, then the Ant-Man version should do just fine. But if you need something more, then the Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Captain America Editions should be a better fit, depending on your personal profile.

Anda Seat Marvel Series Gaming Chair review: What I don't like

While I personally really like the Ant-Man chair, I'm a little disappointed that I got the short end of the stick, so to speak, in terms of features. I'm speaking mostly about the armrests — the Ant-Man Edition chair only has 2D adjustable armrests, which means I can only move them up or down. All of the other chairs in the Marvel Series are 4D, while Ant-Man Edition is only 2D. I'm sure that it wouldn't be impossible for Anda Seat to have added this feature for the Ant-Man Edition, but they chose not to, which is a little bit of a letdown. I didn't know this when I chose the chair, so not including a basic feature like that, especially when the chair is at least $400, feels like a punishment for Ant-Man fans or those who just wanted a more subtle Marvel theme.

Also, considering that this is supposed to be a gaming chair, I'm a little surprised that Anda Seat didn't include any extra cool features, like a massaging lumbar pillow, footrest, or speakers, considering the price. My husband got me a pink-and-white colored gaming chair as a Christmas present last year (my first gaming chair), and it came with a USB-powered massage pillow and had a built-in footrest, but it doesn't cost nearly as much as an Anda Seat. So when you are looking to spend at least $400 on a gaming chair, it's disappointing that you don't at least get some extras.

Like I said, these are heavy chairs. While you could put it together yourself if you're strong enough, you may need some help. I don't think that I would have been able to do it without my husband's help, especially the first part where you screw in the cushion and the backrest. So just be warned — assembling this chair may require another person for the best experience.

Lastly, the Anda Seat Marvel Series Gaming Chairs are not cheap. While they look great, you're going to need to pay at least $400 to add a premium Marvel gaming chair to your setup. Of course, there are some cheaper alternatives out there if you search, but they won't look as good and won't have a matching floor mat.

AndaSeat Dark Demon: What I like

The Anda Seat comes in just four main parts and requires only eight steps to assemble. Compared to previous gaming chairs I've put together, it was pretty breezy, and I was even able to do it by myself. With two people, it would have been even more straightforward. The hardest step is the first step, where you'll need to attach the chair's backrest to the base using four screws, two on each side. The holes for these screws are embedded directly into the soft leather of the chair, so are a bit fiddly to work with as they move around whilst you're putting the screws in. Once those are in and tightened, it's plain sailing. Simply flip the chair over and screw the mechanism to the base, pop the wheels onto the five-star base and stick it all together. Armrests come pre-installed, and the lumbar cushion and headrest simply clip into place. As I said, the installation process for this chair was really simple, especially compared to other chairs I've used, so the Dark Demon scores big early points for ease of use.

The first thing you'll notice about the chair is just how absolutely rugged and durable this thing is. In my opinion, the best thing about this chair is its uncompromising toughness and build quality. The chair has a sturdy metal frame and is covered in a mixture of carbon fiber and PVC leather. The chair itself has a steel frame embedded in the seat, designed to ergonomically fit the human body for extra durability. In fact, the chair can reportedly take a static load of a whopping 1500kg (3300 lbs), however, the listed maximum load is 350lbs, which I heartily believe.

As with nearly all gaming chairs, the Dark Demon is designed to look like a racing car bucket seat. Compared to other chairs, it has a very wide design making it ideal for anyone of a more substantial build, or for those who want a little more freedom of movement. It has 4D adjustable armrests that move forwards/backward, up/down, left/right, and even pan so that you can angle them to suit your needs. This means that nearly every user will be able to set the armrests in a way that supports their needs for optimum comfort. The chair's backrest can also be tilted back using a lever on the right-hand side, and you can set it between 90 and 160 degrees, the latter of which Anda refers to as "sleeping mode." Other excellent design features include vents in the back of the chair, used to secure the headrest in place that also stop you from overheating. The wheels are covered in PU rubber, not only are they stable, but can also be used on both soft and hard floors. They won't damage a hard floor and don't make a mad racket every time you move the chair.

The chair provides a really high level of support in a couple of different ways. It has high-density foam padding, which AndaSeat says will offer "years" of comfort without losing shape. The base of the chair is firm, supportive, and comfortable, without being too squishy, the same goes for the backrest.

Support is aided by an optional lumbar cushion and a headrest (both included). These clip onto the back of the chair very easily, and the height of the lumbar cushion is easily adjusted (The headrest is not, which I'll get to). You don't have to use the chair with either of these, but the lumbar cushion is highly recommended as a support for your lower back. Using the lumbar cushion without the headrest would certainly feel strange and wouldn't be a great way to sit, so both are recommended. The head cushion is a lot larger than some options I've seen out there, and again provides a good deal of firm comfort.

Hard on your wallet, not softer on you.

AndaSeat Dark Demon: What I don't like

You might have noticed how much I'm referring to the durability, ruggedness, and firmness of the chair. Whilst the Dark Demon is incredibly durable and provides a lot of support, the trade-off for me is premium comfort. I usually sit in a Secretlab Omega, and there's a big difference in terms of how premium and soft the leather feels. The leather of the Dark Demon is not very soft, and gives the feel of an actual racing car, or perhaps a helicopter, as opposed to a Rolls Royce. If you want a chair that can take anything you throw at it, whilst holding you firmly in place for those hardcore gaming sessions, then the Dark Demon is the perfect choice for you. I would also highly recommend this to anyone who needs a chair that is pet-proof or childproof against bumps, scrapes, scratches, and stains. But, if you want something a little more relaxing for long hours at the office or watching movies, you might want to consider a more forgiving option.

My biggest personal gripe with the Dark Demon comes from the fact that I'm over six feet tall. As mentioned, the chair comes with a headrest cushion that you attach to the chair through the vents in the backrest. Because of the way these vents are designed, you can only put the headrest at one height. I found that at 90 degrees, I couldn't sit in the chair properly because the headrest lined up more with my neck/shoulders than the back of my head. The quick fix is to simply push the backrest down one level using the lever, at which point it became much more comfortable. However, I can imagine that someone even a bit taller than me would struggle to sit comfortably in the chair. AndaSeat's recommended height is between 5'2" and 6'2". Whilst it says 6'10" is the maximum load, I would not recommend this chair for anyone pushing the top end of the recommended height of 6'2", especially not if you want to sit at 90 degrees. You can use the Dark Demon without the headrest to alleviate all of this, but this detracts from the experience quite a bit, and for me personally made the chair awkward to sit in.

There are a couple of other design quirks, the adjustment handle for height and tilt of the whole chair is further back than I would like, and was a little hard to reach. The armrests, as mentioned, can be fine-tuned in any number of ways for the best fit, however, the design includes quite a sharp edge that sometimes catches your elbows, reflecting again the more rugged nature of the chair. It also only comes in two colors, black, or black & red, so if you don't like either of those, you might want to look at Anda Seat's other models. As noted, the chair is $400, this might seem like a lot but is actually pretty standard for a lot of gaming chairs nowadays. Personally, I think the chair's build quality and toughness justify the investment, but others might not want to stretch that far.

The competition

As mentioned, I usually sit in a Secretlab Omega, which I and our friends at Windows Central are huge fans of. The two sit at around the same price point, however are quite different. The Secretlab offers a much more premium comfort feel, and I would recommend that one more for long days at the office or if comfort is your top priority. The Anda Seat, by comparison, is less forgiving, but much more durable in my opinion. I would be far less concerned about damage or wear and tear compared to the Secretlab option. One of the Secretlab's other cons is onerous assembly, as noted, this is not the case with the Dark Demon. The Omega is also much narrower, and hugs you more than the Dark Demon's wider base does, something to consider for those of a stockier build, or who want a bit more wiggle room.

Secretlab also offers the Titan XL for taller customers, and like the Omega, boasts similar advantages in terms of comfort and premium feel. This chair is a good bit more expensive, however, pushing the $500 mark, and requires a spacious desk area and the same patience and finesse when it comes to construction. Given the Dark Demon's height constraints, this or the Omega would definitely be preferable if you're very tall (6'2"+).

For those who don't want to spend as much on any of these chairs, there is always the option of something like the Corsair T1 gaming chair, which has a similar all-steel frame, PU leather, 4D armrests, reclining, and more. At $300, this is still an excellent chair at the lower end of the price bracket.

Anyone shorter than 6'2" will fit the Dark Demon Pretty well. Equally, if a chair with a wider design is needed, this chair is considerably more spacious than some of its competitors.

You want plush, premium comfort for a home office

The Dark Demon's rugged nature and firm support make it less forgiving than its competitors, and there are chairs out there that offer softer, more premium comfort. This is also not a great option for people who want an office chair for long days at work. This is a gamer's chair for gamers.

You are very tall

If you're taller than 6'2", you might well struggle to fit yourself into the Dark Demon without removing its headrest. Something like a Secretlab Titan XL might well be more accomodating.

You don't want to spend $400 on a chair

If $400 is too much to spend on a chair, regardless of build quality or features, then this is obviously not for you. There are cheaper options like the aforementioned Corsair T1, and you can save even more money if you look away from big-name brands or at chairs with fewer features.

If you're a gamer who wants maximum support and a chair that will last a lifetime, the Dark Demon is a great option. If you want a chair for your home office or a nice squishy seat for Netflix, then there are other great options available.
