Apple Pay is a convenient and secure way to pay for items, both in retail stores and on the web. But if you don't have a card to add or your bank doesn't support the system, are you just out of luck? Nope. Just as you can with movie tickets and other passes, apps like Square's Cash App now let you add a virtual debit card to the Wallet app on your best iPhone. If you've been wondering how to set up Apple Pay without a credit card, Cash App is one way to do it.

How to set up Apple Pay without a credit card: Add Cash App card to your wallet

You can easily refill the balance on your Square Cash debit card and spend that balance using Apple Pay.

1. Launch Square's Cash App on your iPhone.
2. Tap My Cash.
3. Tap your Cash debit card.

4. Tap Add Apple Pay.
5. Tap the name of the device you want your Cash card on.
6. Tap Next. Your Name and card number will be pre-filled.

7. Tap Agree.
8. Tap Done.
9. Tap Done.

How to set up Apple Pay without a credit card: Remove Cash App card from Apple Pay

Removing your Square Cash card is just as easy and getting rid of anything else in Wallet.

1. Launch Wallet on your iPhone.
2. Tap your Square Cash card.
3. Tap the i in the bottom right corner.

4. Tap Remove Card at the bottom of the screen.
5. Tap Remove.

If you use Square Cash and want your funds to be directly deposited in your bank account, instead of staying in your Square Cash account, you can enable the automatic cash out feature and send all your monies directly to your bank, instead of holding it in your Cash account.

Square Cash is a peer-to-peer payment service that is hugely popular and holds its own against such competitors as Venmo and PayPal. When it first launched, funds were instantly deposited into a person's bank account (for most people), which was awesome. However, Square updated its service to keep funds in your Cash account until you manually transfer them into your bank using the "Cash Out" button.

The Cash app currently gives us two options; Cash out immediately, which costs a one-percent fee, or cash out in one to three business days, which is free but takes longer.

If you don't regularly use Square Cash, you might forget that you have money, hundreds of dollars even, that you need to transfer. When you finally do remember, it might be at a time when you really need the money, but don't necessarily want to pay the instant transfer fee.

Buried in the settings section of the Square Cash app is the ability to set up automatic cash outs, so all of your peer-to-peer transactions will be deposited to your bank account, instead of remaining in the app. You can set up instant transfers, which still costs a one-percent fee, or 1-3 day deposits.

It's not the sweet magic that Square Cash started out with, but it's better than forgetting that your roommate's rent is sitting in the wrong account. Here's how to enable automatic cash-out.

If you use the Square Cash app, which is the easiest way to send and receive money, you can find the automatic cash out feature in the settings section.

1. Launch the Square Cash app on your iPhone.
2. Tap your Profile in the upper left corner.

3. Scroll down and toggle Auto Cash Out on.
4. Select whether to have money deposited instantly (for a 1% fee) or 1-3 Days (free).

If you change your mind, you can disable automatic transfers by following the same steps and toggling the switch off.

1. Navigate to Cash.me from a web browser.
2. Select Account in the upper right corner.
3. Log in with your Square Cash account info.

You may have already been prompted to add your Cash Virtual Card to Apple Pay. If you didn't set it up automatically when prompted, you can add it manually.

1. Launch the Cash app from your Home screen.
2. Tap your profile picture in the upper left corner of the screen.

3. Scroll down and tap My Cash under the Funds section.
4. Scroll down and tap Add to Apple Pay under your Virtual Card.

You can now use Apple Pay to make payments with your Square Cash account.

How to use Square Cash as your Apple Pay payment option on iPhone

When you're ready to make a purchase, you can use Apple Pay at participating locations and then choose Square Cash instead of your default card.

1. Hold your iPhone near the payment reader. Do not rest your finger on Touch ID.
2. When your default card appears, swipe it down.
3. Select the Cash Virtual Card.
4. Rest your finger on Touch ID.

The process to switch to the Square Cash Virtual Card on Apple Watch is similar to the process on iPhone.

1. Double-click the side button.
2. When your default card appears, swipe to the left.

If you decide that you no longer want your Square Cash Virtual Card linked to Apple Pay, you can remove it. You can always add it back at a later time if you change your mind again.

Square has launched a new set of APIs that enable sellers to use the company's payment processing services with their own custom apps. The new "Build with Square" program, Square's initial set of tools include a Register API that allows developers to create customized iOS apps that tap into Square's payment processing. From Square:

Additionally, Square has also released an E-Commerce API that similarly allows sellers to tap into the company's payment processing mojo via their websites.

Interested developers can head to Square's website to sign up for a developer account and begin working with all of the company's new APIs.

The Square app has allowed small business owners to accept credit cards via the iPhone for some time. Now the company has revealed an all new iPhone app, Square Dashboard, that lets those users keep track of sales made via the main Square app in real time.

Square says that the Dashboard app can do more than track sales:

• Your sales summaries: Check your sales, the number of items you sold, and the average sale amounts each day. So if you're hitting it out of the park, you can see that right away.
• Sales comparisons: Compare your sales to last week, last month, or last year. This information is gold when it comes to figuring out when to staff up or down.
• Which items are your best sellers: What are you selling more of — clothing or accessories? You can instantly spot which categories are doing well, and which might need some TLC with a sale or a promotion. You can also sort your items by what's selling, or what's not. If you're serving tons of iced coffee and another heat wave is approaching, it might be time to make some more ice.
• How all your locations are doing: You can choose to see sales data at one location, at all your locations, or at any group of locations. This is a great way to get a quick take on how things are going across the board at any given point in time. It's like being everywhere at once. Except not.

Square Cash, the app from retail point-of-sale developer Square that lets you email money directly to your friends, has been update to let you text money directly to your friends. As before, Square Cash does this free of charge, and you can send a Square Cash text to any phone number to transfer fund from your debit card to theirs.

In addition to the sending of cash via text, version 2.0 of Square Cash is bringing the option to add notes to your payments, import your address book, set a profile picture, manage your notifications, and (with iOS 8) approve incoming Square Cash requests right from the notification.

Square's new online ordering app, the aptly named Order, is now available in New York City and San Francisco. The app allows users to place and pay for orders online at participating business, and then go pick it up in the store.

The process is simple: browse the selection of nearby shops, cafes, and restaurants right from your phone, pick what you want to buy, buy it and optionally add a tip, and then when you get a notification, go and pick it up. No muss, no fuss.

Square Order is available on the iOS App Store for iPhone, and is currently in open beta for Android. The back-end retailer infrastructure for Order was launched two weeks ago, along with offline sales and inventory tracking.

Square is a popular card reader suite for iOS and Android, enabling e-commerce customers to drive more custom through their business and simplify transaction operations. We previously looked at the register for iPad, transforming the tablet into a fully-capable register with credit card support, but today Square is announcing new features – Pickup, offline mode and inventory tracking.

Square Pickup is a new addition to the feature table for businesses. This service allows customers to place orders online (largely done via smartphones) and pick up their goods without having to wait through queues. Sellers pay a small 8 percent processing fee per order, which has been slashed to just 2.75 percent through July 1, 2014 as an introductory offer. As always, setup is free.

Next up is offline mode, which allows sellers to utilize Square's mobile register, including the credit card payment gateway, even when Internet connectivity has been lost. Square would then process payments after a connection is re-established. This mode is perfect for sellers who would find themselves mobile or in a situation where internet connectivity isn't reliable, without paying the premium for hardware.

Lastly, Square todayannounced inventory tracking, which has proven to be one of the most requested features by customers. Inventory tracking, as the name suggests, provides sellers a free way to track item stock when selling both in person and online. Manging inventory in the web dashboard, sellers are able to set up stock alerts preventing them from being caught off guard by low inventory issues.

Square has just announced a new offering which gives you all the hardware equipment you need to start taking payments on your iPhone and iPad. You can select bundles based on what you need and they'll be shipped directly to you. All you'll need to bring to the table is an iPhone and/or iPad.

According to Square, businesses can select one of two bundles. One includes a square card reader, iPad stand, cash drawer, and receipt printer. This bundle will retail for $599. You can also select a cheaper option without the receipt printer for $299. The receipt printer on its own retails for around $260 on Amazon so it's not too much more directly from Square. For many, the convenience of receiving everything together may outweigh that extra $50 that Square is charging.

Guess Your Songs - @Alli_Flowers

Remember the old game show "Name that tune?" Remember how if they told you enough about the song, you could guess it in a single note? Well what if you only had a single note and no background information? What if that tune came from your own iTunes library?

Guess Your Songs is a great new game that you can play on your iPhone, iPad, Facebook, or directly through www.guessyoursongs.com. It uses your iTunes library, and plays you a snippet of a song. It could be a single note, it could be 10 notes - depends on the song - whatever fits into the two seconds you get to listen. Oh, and it's not the beginning of the song, either. This can be a challenge.

Once you listen to your two seconds of music, you get three choices. Guess Your Songs will display the album art (if you have it), and give you three song titles. All you have to do is tap the correct song. This can sometimes be tricky. For instance, I played one round, where I got two seconds of silence. When I looked at my choices, two were classical pieces, and the third had a lengthy bridge with spots that were so quiet they could have been silence. Very difficult to make that call!

The more eclectic your collection, the easier it is to guess correctly. If you have a large collection of music from the same genre, it could prove very challenging!

So challenge yourself to see how well you know your own music collection, and give this a try!

Zeppelin (jailbreak) - @JorjLim

Zeppelin is a very simple jailbreak tweak that allows you to change your carrier icon. Instead of reading "O2" or "AT&T" you can actually customise it to show the actual logo of the company, or even something completely different like the batman symbol, the Apple logo, or even the logo of your favourite sporting team.

When you initially download it it comes with some basic icons; from popular sci-fi series, video games as well as popular brands. However there are endless numbers of bonus packs to download in the Cydia store for free. (It even has their own category in Cydia)

If you want to really have simplicity, you can even set it to "none" to have nothing there at all.

One of the good things about this tweak is that you don't even have to respring when you change an icon, so you can switch between them on the fly without having to worry respringing your phone.

Square Register for iPad - @iMuggle

I've been using Square as the main method for taking credit card payments for PXLFIX since last summer. I love the ease of use, idiot proof interface, and low fees. As much as I've always enjoyed being able to take a credit card wherever I was, whether in the office or on a consult, I've felt like Square could add a bit more customization.

Square Register is exactly what I'd been wanting to see them do. I can now have a beautiful virtual shelf showing all our services and repairs, I can favorite certain items that get used more than others, and add photos for each item. I also like the fact that I can choose whether or not an item is taxable. In the state where my business is located, we don't yet have to charge tax on labor so we have to break that out on invoices. Square makes it easier than ever. Just toggle tax on or off for any individual item.

I've been playing around with Square Register since it came out and I have to say that it's one of the best options for small businesses that don't want to be anchored to one point of sale or commit to several monthly fees. You can sign up for Square for free and receive a reader for free as well. Square Register is also a free download via the App Store.

USA Today - @Gmazo1

I'm a News junkie - I always have been. First thing in the morning - after I read my emails and check tweets from the night, i fire up two or three news apps to see what's going on in the world. I have vacillated between my iPad and iPhone - but usually turn to the iPad for one app - USA Today. AFter checking the front page of the New York Times, this has been my go to app.

Now, USA Today has been updated for the iPhone and it is awesome. They did a complete redesign of the iPhone app; the sections are in big, bold colorful letters on the left hand side. In each "category" you can choose from lots of options. Being a sports nut, I really appreciate the ability to see Top Stories, Scores and each sporting league right there for easy perusal.

I also like that the settings menu is built into the app. I can manage my alerts, choose display options and get support via email or twitter. There is even a handy weather widget on the front page that can be set to multiple locations. All in all, this is a great upgrade and has made this my new "go to" news app when I am just looking for quick stories - not in depth analysis.

Shazam - @Bla1ze

I'm getting old. My memory for the names of songs and tunes I like is no longer as good as it once used to be. For example, watching the iPad announcement I sat there wondering what the name of the song they played while showing off the new stores was pretty much for hours, even though I knew I had heard it before. I gave up though, and headed off to the app store to find an app that would know instantly. I found Shazam, played a few seconds of the song, Shazam sent it to the cloud and immediately gave me the answer I was looking for -- We are young by Fun featuring Janelle Monae. Shazam is free and available in the app store, right now.

iPhoto for iPhone and iPad - @llofte

One of the announcements during Apple's iPad event was iPhoto for iPhone and Mac. When rumors first started surfacing about this, I'll admit that I wasn't too thrilled because I've never been a fan of iPhoto for Mac. I'm happy to report that I'm actually very impressed with iPhoto for iPhone and iPad.

The new iPad - @reneritchie

What? Stop looking at me like that. It had to be done! The new iPad packs an ridiculous amount of technology into a sleek, sexy package for an unbelievably low price. It's such a design, engineering, and logistical achievement that I'm guessing Apple's competitors likely went into collective apoplexy after watching the event on Wednesday and are probably still on pure oxygen.

2048x1536 Retina display pixels in a 9.7-inch display is crazy. It's more than your 1080p television at a tiny fraction of the size. 4G LTE networking is fantastic for those with coverage, and the Apple A5X chipset looks to be quad-core graphical monster. It's even got a 5mp version of the iPhone 4S' fantastic iSight camera built in.

And it's almost the same size as the iPad 2, and the same price. If you haven't gotten a tablet yet, it's a great time to start. If you have an original iPad, it's a great time to upgrade. If you have an iPad 2, it's a good upgrade provided one or more of the features fixes a real problem you've been having.

Square is already well known for the way it brought credit card transactions into the hands of small businesses and sole traders. Now it has gone one step further and announced its latest creation which is a register app for the iPad. The new app aims to replace a traditional POS (point of sale) cash register with an iPad.

The app which is called Square Register will be offered for free and Square will make its money through its existing revenue stream of taking  2.75% of every credit card transaction made using its service. The app also contains a highly impressive analytics application which will allow any small business to assess sales data and then tailor all aspects of their business to maximise sales.

Looks like Mophie, makers of the Juice Pack Air, are going to be offering their own take on the iPhone credit card reader accessory, and software app. We should hear more at CES, but with rumors of Apple offering their EasyPay system beyond the Apple Retail Stores, and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey's Square coming to market, next year could be big for mobile money-taking.
