Instapaper updates to support iOS 7, adds sorting and filtering

Instapaper 5.0 is now available, sporting several improvements, including sorting, filtering and an iOS 7-ready design. This is also the first release of the app by Betaworks since they purchased Instapaper from Marco Arment in April. The major changes have come only to the iPhone for now, with iPad optimization coming soon.

The first big additions to the app are sorting and filtering of the Read Later list. Articles can now be sorted by date, article length, popularity, or they can be shuffled. Filtering lets you organize your articles by reading time, giving you the right amount of content to read for the time you have available.

Videos are now handled better, from parsing to playback. A new Video tab has also been added to the Instapaper menu to make video easier to find. Additionally, the Sepia theme has been improved, and a darker splash screen has been added for better reading at night. Finally, Instapaper has been translated into thirteen languages, including Spanish, Russian, and Japanese.

Instapaper 5.0 is available as a free download, and costs $3.99 for new users. It requires iOS 5.0 or later.
