Netflix is a popular subscription streaming video service available in the U.S., as well as Canada, Mexico, South America, the Caribbean, United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and the Netherlands. For a monthly fee, it provides all-you-can-watch movies and TV series. Exact content varies by region, but is catalog in nature, not first run. Think of it as re-runs on demand. However, in recent years Netflix has started airing its own original series, such as Orange Is The New Black and House of Cards.

Always a great service, Netflix struggled at the beginning to also be a great app. No longer. With 3 big updates in 2013, include an updated interface, and the addition of Netflix HD and proper AirPlay, it's now both. If you save a show on your iPad to watch later, you can pick up your iPhone and view all your saved shows there as well. Start watching a show on your iPhone but want to finish on your Apple TV? Not a problem. Netflix can save your place and let you pick up on any platform exactly where you last left off.

Aside from movies and TV series, Netflix also features a robust children's section complete with shows such as Caillou, Thomas the Train, and much more. If documentaries are your thing, Netflix has many original documentaries as well as hundreds more from The History Channel, Discover Channel, and many others. Netflix can also suggest content for you based on what you've watched and how you've rated it. You can rate shows, movies, and documentaries on almost all Netflix apps including on the Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad.

Netflix has an app for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, and is built-in to the Apple TV. It can also be watched via the web browser on the Mac.
