The Facetime camera on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is getting some cool new stuff for selfie aficionados to look forward to. The camera is 5MP, and features True Tone flash in a unique way: by using the display. To use flash with the Facetime camera, Apple has opted to go with using the screen on the new iPhones to get a bright, less harsh flash.
Apple says that the new iPhones feature a new display chip that allows for the screen to temporarily go three-times brighter for flash. Even cooler is that the phones will check the ambient lighting before the flash goes off to better match your environment. Because the flash is coming from a bigger surface are, the results should be much less harsh, which would be a nice improvement over current flash technologies.
