Apple will closely guard Apple Watch sales numbers in new reporting method

Starting the first quarter of its 2015 fiscal year, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the company may not break out sales figures for the Apple Watch. By not disclosing exact sales numbers for Apple's nascent smartwatch, a typically secretive Apple would hope to gain a competitive advantage over competitors. Apple would employ a new way of reporting sales and earnings for its Apple Watch by categorizing it into a category marked "other" along with a few other products.

Facebook posts Q2 2014 earnings: $2.9 billion revenue, 1.32 billion monthly active users

Facebook has just reported its Q2 2014 earnings, showing growth in revenues, income and user numbers. As for the financials, Facebook saw a 61 percent jump in revenue over Q2 2013 to $2.91 billion, with net income also jumping to $791 million, a boost of 139 percent over last year. Operating income, operating margin and EPS were all up substantially from last year.

Verizon Wireless's Q1 2014 results see $21 billion in revenue and 539,000 postpaid subscribers

Verizon's first quarter results are in, and mirroring rival AT&T, they saw some rather impressive growth. Verizon as a whole saw $30 billion in revenue, but even with their substantial non-cellular businesses, Verizon Wireless accounted for a whopping $20.9 billion of that income. That's an increase of nearly 7% from this quarter last year, though growth through their retail outlets was slightly lower.

AT&T posts $17.9 billion in revenue, adds 625,000 postpaid customers in Q1

AT&T reported its first quarter 2014 results, showing impressive growth in revenues, handset sales and customer acquisition for the quarter. While AT&T operates businesses outside of its wireless division, we're going to focus on this portion. For the quarter, AT&T posted $17.9 billion in revenue including handset sales, up 7 percent year-over-year, leading to $5.1 billion in operating income, up 8.1 percent.

On the customer side, AT&T added 625,000 postpaid customers, its largest first quarter gain in five years. It also added 693,000 "connected devices," but saw prepaid customers dip overall in the quarter mostly due to the loss of over 200,000 reseller subscribers. Of those additions, 311,000 were for postpaid smartphones, while 313,000 were tablets.

T-Mobile announces Q3 2013 results, 540,000 iPhones sold, could have sold more!

Today is Q3 2013 earnings day for T-Mobile, and generally speaking things are looking good. Subscriber numbers are up again thanks in no small part to the Uncarrier program, and iPhone is doing pretty well in magenta. Headline numbers are 3.6 million smartphones sold with iPhone making up 15% of that. A bit of rough math puts that at around 540,000 iPhones sold on T-Mobile for the quarter, wherein we saw a new product launch towards the latter stages.

Apple seeing good growth in China, iPhone sales 25% up year-on-year

For the first time this year, Apple launched the new iPhone in China on launch day, and hand-in-hand with that growth for the area is definitely up. Chinese growth overall was 6%, and iPhone sales were up 25% year-on-year despite some pretty horrendous – and well publicised – supply constraints on the new iPhone 5s.

It's earnings day for Apple, and beyond just numbers it's also one of only a handful of days in the year we get to hear from such dignitaries as CEO Tim Cook and CFO Peter Oppenheimer. T-Mobile sees increased revenue and subscribers in Q2, iPhone doing well on the 'Uncarrier'

T-Mobile has today released their Q2 2013 financial results and it shows a good quarter for the 'Uncarrier' and its iPhone sales. While specific numbers of iPhones sold since T-Mobile first started selling it in April aren't clear, it does account for a pretty good percentage of new customers and upgrade sales.
