TP-Link has announced a new collaboration with Intel that will put some of Intel's technology in the TP-Link Archer C2700 Wi-Fi router. It will be the first of TP-Link's routers to use the Intel Home Wi-Fi chipset, and it will harness that power to deliver powerful signals to several devices at the same time. The C2700 will be an AC2600 dual-band Wi-Fi router. It can deliver speeds up to 800 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and up to 1733 Mbps on the 5GHz band.
Think about all the devices in your home that use the same Wi-Fi every day. I can name seven different devices off the top of my head and I have a small family. The more people you have around, the more they are all using the Wi-Fi at once. This router will combine features like the new Intel chip, MU-MIMO technology, Beam-forming, Airtime Fairness, and Link Aggregation to spread the bandwidth around and give everyone the fastest possible speeds. Some of TP-Link's current routers, like the Archer C2300, use features like this, but none will be as fast as the new C2700. It will also work with smart home systems like Amazon's Alexa and IFTTT.
You will be able to use the TP-Link Tether app to easily setup and manage your router. You'll also find USB 2 and 3 ports on the router to share media through your network. Releasing later this year, the Archer C2700 will cost $169.99. That's a decent price for the features this machine will come with, but TP-Link does have less expensive options like the Archer A7 that are also fast and reliable.
