Ahead of the Met Gala fundraising event, which takes place tonight in New York City, Apple design chief Jony Ive spoke at a press event about the fusion of fashion and technology, the theme of this year's "Manus x Machina" Met exhibit. In particular, Ive spoke about Apple's work in driving both arenas.

From AppleInsider:

"Our goal has always been to try to create objects as beautiful as they are functional," Ive told a group of assembled journalists. Ive is one of the Apple-sponsored fundraiser's four hosts, along with Vogue's Anna Wintour, pop megastar Taylor Swift, and actor Idris Elba.

Ive has spoken on the intersection of technology and fashion before, having opened or spoken at a number of events with that theme in recent years. With last year's launch of the Apple Watch, Ive and his team made their most direct effort to bridge the two industries.
