Apple Store-within-a-store coming to a Target near you

AppleInsider reports that Apple will be bringing mini "store-within-a-store" setups to 25 different Target locations around the country.

The initial opening would be a small start, given that Target, the second-largest discount retail chain in the US, operates 1752 stores in the US. Apple has opened 359 of its own retail stores globally, 245 of which are in the US.

Apple is likely just testing the waters with Target, which should ultimately help expand their reach in the retail space. Apple already does this at the largest electronics retail outlet, Best Buy, with around 600 mini "Apple Shops" that have been met with great success.

Play your favorite classic puzzle games with Puzzle Love for iPhone

Puzzle Love is an iPhone app equipped with 5 different puzzle types: Sudoku, 5x5, Target, and Wordbuilder.

I've spent a little time with Puzzle Love and I must say - the UI is beautiful! It's no secret that I'm a sucker for a pretty interface, and Puzzle Love has surely grabbed my attention. Now, if only I could be better at something other than Sudoku.

iPad 2 marked as discontinued at Target?

iPad 2 have been marked as discontinued at Target according to a source who sent TiPb the above screens. Though these only show the 16GB iPad 2 3G on both Verizon and AT&T as being discontinued, our source maintains none of the current SKUs are long for Target's shelves.

That implies that we will not be ordering more, which implies a new iPad is forthcoming rather soon (October-ish, say). Either that or Target's exiting the iPad business, which seems unlikely. A lot of the cases have gone clearance too.

iPhone 4 prices cut at Target and Radio Shack

Target and Radio Shack are dropping their prices on the iPhone 4. A lot of retailers typically do this to clear out inventory in anticipation for a new iPhone. We've seen it happen every year thus far.

If you're in the market for a new iPhone and don't care about waiting for the iPhone 5, you can get an iPhone 4 at Target for $149 (16 GB) and $249 (32 GB). Radio Shack also has a promotion this week cutting the prices to $169 and $269. If you trade in an existing iPhone, you can get an additional $100 off at Radio Shack.

As always, these prices will require you to sign a new 2-year agreement. I'd personally hold out for the iPhone 5 but if you aren't willing to shell out over $200 for a new phone, this may be the deal for you.

iPad now available from Target, Amazon

As expected Target has begun selling Apple's iPad, and if our inbox and subsequent searches are to be believed, online retail giant Amazon has joined them.

Like our early screenshots showed, Target is offering the complete line of iPads. Amazon is only selling the Wi-Fi iPad though 3rd party resellers may or may not have the 3G model available (the page was showing some, then popping up errors, so your luck may vary).

Apple moved millions of iPads via their own Apple Retail and Apple Online stores and getting them onto the shelves (real or virtual) of more and major outlets can only help them sell more.
