LG is adding to an extensive lineup of 32-inch screens with a new 32-inch computer monitor, the 32UK550-B. This screen will support 4K, HDR, and AMD FreeSync technology all at a starting price of $500. That means HDR10, 3840 x 2160 pixel resolutions, and 95% of the DCI-P3 color range all on a screen that measures more precisely at 31.5 inches. It will come factory-calibrated for color with a 3000:1 contrast ratio, 4ms response time, and a 60Hz refresh rate. It uses a VA panel and has 178-degree viewing angles.
The connectivity options include two HDMI 2.0 ports that support HDCP 2.2 for HD and HDR content as well as one DisplayPort input. The monitor will have two 5W speakers built in as well as a headphone jack.
Right now this monitor is only available in Japan, but the $500 price tag is right in line with some of LG's other larger screens. The LG 32UD60-B screen regularly sells for around $500 to $530, and it was as low as $400 last week. That monitor does not support HDR10, though, so LG's new screen might be worth waiting for if HDR content is important to you. Although, you should know the screen's 300 nits brightness level is not ideal for the best HDR.
LG isn't the only company with solid monitor offerings, either. Looking for other 4K and HDR options? Try Dell's 27-inch UltraSharp screen that's on sale at Costco right now. This Acer Predator screen doesn't support HDR, but it does have 4K resolutions, Nvidia's G-Sync technology, and USB ports all for less than $650.
