Mailbox 2.0 brings Auto-swipe, Dropbox sync, and more!

Mailbox, the smart email app now owned by Dropbox, has been updated to version 2.0 and it brings with it a couple of notable improvements. Namely, Auto-swipe lets Mailbox try to learn from your gestures in order to predict your common actions. And, of course, Dropbox now handles all the heavy storage and syncing lifting. There are also bug fixes and performance improvements aplenty, so if you're a Mailbox user, Dropbox user, or just want to try — and trust! — email with more server-side smarts, check it out!

Mailbox beta coming soon to OS X

We'll admit to being fans of the Mailbox app for iOS, and now our fandom might just have to expand to Mac OS X as well. Today Dropbox, who bought Mailbox a year ago, announced that they are bringing the mail client to OS X in beta form.

Mailbox update adds support for iCloud, Yahoo! accounts

Mailbox has been updated to version 1.7, adding support for iCloud and Yahoo! Mail accounts. Mailbox does not yet support mail aliases from non-Gmail accounts, however.

Mailbox updated with cloud search, account specific signatures, and more

Mailbox, now part of Dropbox, has been updated to version 1.5 and that means you can now search not only local messages, but all the email stored up on the Gmail cloud. If you have multiple accounts, you can now also assign unique signatures to each and every one of them, and if you have Google's Chrome browser installed, you can choose to open links in that rather than Apple's built-in Safari.

Mailbox users; link your Dropbox account for an extra 1GB free storage!

Here's a handy tip for Mailbox users to get some extra, totally free, storage in their Dropbox accounts. Mailbox was acquired by Dropbox not too long after it launched, and has since seen updates to add integration for Dropbox attachments. Now though, it seems the Dropbox connection goes a little further, as noticed by The Next Web:

Mailbox update adds landscape view for iPhone and Gmail aliases

Mailbox, the popular third-party Gmail experience for iOS, has been updated with a couple of cool new features. Following the recent addition of portrait view for the iPad, there's now access to a landscape view on the iPhone so you can read your messages in the wider view. Also, with support for alias accounts now added, Gmail's "send as" feature opens up in Mailbox.

Latest update to Mailbox adds a portrait mode for iPad

A quick heads up for Mailbox users that the latest update that has been pushed out to the App Store brings portrait support for the iPad. Strangely, when Mailbox finally gained iPad support, it was only useable in landscape view, but that has now been rectified.
