GIPHY. All the GIFs
Giphy has, hands-down, the largest collection of animated GIFs. It has a great interface that makes it easy to find what you are looking for, even if you didn't know what you were looking for, and you can past GIFs right into messages, emails, and social networking updates with just a click.
Bottom-line: You will always be able to express yourself with one-second, looping clips if you have Giphy on your iPhone.
One more thing: It's all about the cats.
Why Giphy is the best
Has all the GIFs, easy to use.
Giphy's best feature is, of course, that it has all the GIFs. There are hundreds of thousands of animated clips to choose from and they are neatly organized into different categories. You can choose from reactions, actions, emotions, animals, TV shows, movies, memes, and more. There are so many funny ones you might spend so much time giggling at all the GIFs that you forget why you opened the app in the first place. You can also search for GIFs, which means you'll be able to find your favorite Arrested Development moments or Kim Kardashian selfies.
GIFs inside Giphy are also organized by related types and, thankfully, many are tagged. So, for example, if you want see a Goofy GIF, you can tap the tag for Goofy or Disney to see more related content.
Giphy's user interface is classy. When you first open it up, you'll see a list of trending GIFs. When you tap the menu icon at the bottom of the screen, you will see the category section. You can then swipe to the left, you can view subcategories.
If it makes you dizzy to look at a dozen different animations all at once, you can flip a switch at the top right of the screen to pause GIFs.
Giphy has multiple options for sharing GIFs. You can share one directly through text, email, Facebook Messenger, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. If you want to share a GIF via another channel, you can press and hold the the screen to trigger a pop-up that lets you copy a GIF or save it to your camera roll. While in your camera roll, it won't animate, but when you share it, it will come alive.
If you want to have the entire world of GIFs at your fingertips, you won't miss a thing with Giphy.
Best for GIF gaming with friends
I know what you're thinking: GIF gaming? But, it's true. You can play a game with friends (or strangers) using GIFs. It is described as similar to Cards Against Humanity. When you join a new game, you'll be given a word or phrase, which was chosen or created by the judge. Then, you can pick from 10 suggested GIFs, or search for a different one within the app. If you still don't like what you see, grab a GIF from a different app (like Giphy), and submit it manually.
The judge picks his or her favorite GIF response, and that person wins. Then, the game moves onto round two where someone new gets to be the judge.
Bottom-line: GIF gaming may sound weird, but it turns out it can be pretty fun to see what people come up with to respond to your statement.
One more thing: Trending GIFs include winning GIFs and their phrases. Reading the phrase and seeing the response turns familiar GIFs into something new to laugh at.
Best for making GIFs from pics
One common theme amongst most GIFs is that it is a one or two-second image clip that loops over and over again. GifX does it a little differently. Using one of your still images, you can overlay a graphic that loops, making your snapshots into groovy visuals. You can choose from spinning tie-dyes, vector graphics, and an infinite loop of doorways. If you want the effect to take place in a specific area of the image, you can lay down a mask that will make the effect even more intense. For a few dollars more, you can unlock all of the animations and masks and save high-quality versions of your 15-second creation..
Bottom-line: To turn your still photos into creative GIF style animations, check out GifX.
One more thing: You can adjust the size of the GIF animations for such silly antics as putting a winky cat's head on your best friend's body.
Best social networking GIF feed
PHHHOTO - Moving Pictures
PHHHOTO is a unique app that makes GIFs in a slightly different way. It takes a small burst of about 10 photos and then squishes them together in a forward-backward loop so your moving picture is animated. You can add a filter and overlay text. You can than save your PHHHOTO to share with others on a variety of social networking sites, but it also posts to your feed, which your friends can follow. It's like Instagram for GIFs.
Bottom-line: Get into another way to be social online with PHHHOTO.
One more thing: You can start a PHHHOTO party, where you and your friends can post GIFs and comments together in a group, whether you are right next to each other or around the globe.
Best for making use of your bursts
So, you've taken a bunch of Burst photos with your iPhone in order to get the perfect single shot of action. What do you do with all of the leftover pictures? Burstio turns them into animated GIFs. You can play them forward, backward, or in a yo-yoing loop. You can also increase or decrease the speed of animation for extra special effects. If your GIF is too long, you can trim off the back or front to edit the effect. Then, you can share them to your favorite social networking sites, or save them to your camera roll.
Bottom-line: Make use of those extra Burst photos by turning them into GIFs with Burstio.
One more thing: You can export content as full HD videos if you want high-resolution effects.
